I got my first little buddy here. His name is Commodore. It was love at first sight. All the shots, etc were taken care of already and I did not have to pay a lot.

He was so tiny and now he's 9 years old and so big and fluffy!

Thank you Anti Cruelty Society for bringing us together!

I took a stray kitten in because he had a respiratory infection. I was previously told that the kitten would be fine with just some medication. Not even 4 days later, they euthanized him. He was only 6 weeks old. PLEASE DON'T TAKE ANY SICK STRAYS IN. THEY WON'T GIVE THEM A CHANCE. They'll just euthanize them.

Sadly, we had to put our dog to sleep. The staff members were compassionate and caring. They treated our dog nice and made sure to tell us in detail how the process was like. Our friend was sedated to make him comfortable. I know that they also do so much good for other pets too and I truly admire all the good work they do to make sure these animals are feeling special and finding good homes. Thank you!

I've had a great experience here. I've adopted 3 ...

I've had a great experience here. I've adopted 3 cats over the last 20 years from here and they were all great. A week ago I adopted an older cat (see pics). He was frighted in the shelter and they had him in Charlottes Corner (where the cats aren't caged, usually older ones). He was terrified as his former owner died and he'd been in the shelter since September.

Anyway, I got him home and he got really sick, an upper respiratory infection that a lot of cats from shelters get due to stress. As he's older (they said 10 years) he was having a really difficult time, no eating and no drinking for three days. So I called the shelter and they immediately had me bring him in for fluids and a vitamin shot. They offered to keep him there but they preferred me bring him home so I did. He kept getting worse so I called again. They took him back and stated he'll be there for a week. They also did blood tests and they weren't sure he was going to make it (actually still not sure). I was able to go back yesterday and visit him in the clinic and he seems completely different and better. They gave him fluids, antibiotics and other treatments. I'll find out Monday or so if he's able to come home. I'm hoping although he still is a little sick and it's day by day.

I gave the ACS four stars instead of five. This is not due to his respiratory infection as that can't be prevented. It's due to the fact that they/me think he's older than what it says on the placard. More like teens maybe which worries me. They did do all the blood work and urinalysis and he only has a slight trace of kidney deterioration (normal for age). I hope he lives and does well at my place. It has been stressful and the clinic and everyone have been so nice. Part of me wants to give him back because he's older than I thought and has a beginning of kidney deficiency. He's so sweet so I'm going to keep him if he recovers. I'll worry about anything else later. It's nice they pay for all the initial and current treatment for 15 days.

UPDATE

I changed my review to one star. My cat was estimated at 10 yrs old by the ACS. While he was sick at the ACS, the estimate was changed to about 14. Now at my private vet he indicated that he is at least 14 and probably a little older. On top of that he has the beginning stages of kidney disease. And my private vet said too skinny. So now I'm sitting at my vet paying $200 to get x-rays to see if he has cancer. On top of that they might want other tests. And he's also being prescribed an appetite stimulant. Plus the chart said he has moderate dental tartar that would need to be treated. That I accepted because I saw it on the board. Apparently it might be more than that with gingivitis. And the x-rays came back and he may have cancer or irritable bowel disease
Further imaging is recommend at at least $500. So now I'm stuck in a really bad place. Having a nice cat, that's older and sicker than I was led on. I'm sure I can bring him back to the ACS but would anyone else want him and want to pay for the costs? I don't know. He also had to get a vitamin B shot. So my first trip to the vet was $300 for a cat I've had 3 days. I'm not even factoring the 7 Uber rides I've had to take to the ACS and vet, thats another $100.

I want to be fair to him and fair to myself. This is very upsetting. And the ironic thing is I got him because my 16 year old cat has kidney disease and probably won't be around for more than a year according to my doctor. So I thought I was getting a 10 yo cat to help lessen the blow. Absolutely upsetting and nerve racking.

LAST UPDATE

The ACS called me back and we spoke about him. I have the option of bringing him back at anytime. I just decided to keep him, he's a good cat and I can't bring him back to the shelter. My pocket book will hurt but hopefully he'll have a good few years.

The lady at the front desk of the adoption center was a bit rude (no greeting, swearing under her breath) but besides that everything was great! The rest of the staff was very friendly and genuinely cared for the animals that were there.

My pup was spayed here and the operation was great. However, she picked up a very serious intestinal parasitic infection that has left her very ill, requiring medical attention. She was not exposed to anything after the surgery and another vet agrees that it was very likely to have been picked up there.

Unfortunately, I had to give up my 6 year old cat I told them about her personality as honestly as I could. I was told they were concerned about her anxious and bit anti social personality towards other animals and said she could be euthanized. Plus she also had a mite infection that got treated but still needed ear ointment for the swelling. I got upset because anxiety is no reason to kill an animal. She may need particular owners and maybe more training and tolerance but she has love to offer. I thought veterinarians would also seek to her ear infection, she wasn t terminally ill. I ended up taking her back with me :(

Got my first cat, Bear, here..... not sure what to say here, it's a building full of animals that want to be loved and people who are dedicated to seeing that they find it. Your kind of an ass if you give an animal shelter anything less than five stars.

I spent 4hours at their foster orientation. Eric was offering first time dog owners to take a dog today but he basically pretended I'm not good enough to take a dog. I've spent thousands of hours and dollars caring for my nieces and nephews but I'm not good enough to foster a dog lol. don't waste your time with their prejudice foster program.

Very caring, responsive and affordable. Sadly I had to put one of my kittens down due to cancer and I was so overwhelmed with the prices for euthanasia and cremation offered by my vet and the local pet hospitals... I called them in tears on a Saturday and the lady who spoke with me was so understanding and gentle. I brought my kitten on Sunday and was received promptly. They have a free parking lot that is very convenient. Another lady walked me through the whole procedure to help me come to terms with my decision and was again very caring and gentle. We had a private room where my kitten passed away peacefully and I was given plenty of time to mourn and cry... The lady also recommended low income clinics for my other kitten. I'm still heartbroken but really glad that the anti-cruelty society exists and provides euthanasia services.

Took our yoshi there paid $35 to ensure our family pet meets new family and not an untimely death. Anti-Cruelty (This is a no kill a small charge of $35 to ensure these pets can live and find a new family) small price to pay. (Update)
This facility found our family pet a loving family to grow old with. As well as he only stayed from feb-April before being adopted.
(Customer Service)
The team ensured me they loved our yoshi and loved him almosy as much as we did .
They stated he was adopted by a family he seemed to love his happy personality. Also he was very friendly. Even though I wanted to go back and get our baby I'm very happy they found him a happy home

I am writing this review because 15-years-ago I adopted my sweet dog Carley from here. She had clearly been abused: she was nervous around people, and had no idea how to be a dog. With a little patience and love she quickly became the most incredible dog and truly my best friend. Unfortunately, I just had to put her to sleep after nearly 15 years of unconditional love. I owe it to the the Anti-Cruelty society for giving me so many good memories with an incredible four-legged friend. Adopt, don t shop.
