That Special Touch Review

First fact...I have ordered birthday, baby shower, wedding shower, wedding cakes, anniversary cakes from this establishment for over twenty-seven (27) years. The cakes are always wonderful and designed to specification. NEXT FACT: I am now a Grandmother of three boys and we have BIG birthday celebrations. I ordered a cake yesterday, called back this morning to change the cake flavor, because the child wanted a different flavor than I ordered. The cake was not made yet, but owner, Richard Bailey, refused to change the flavor, even though the order had not been started. I emphasized the fact that myself, family, relatives, co-workers, previous employers, and known associates ...all order from this establishment because of word of mouth, personal attendance at functions and trust. Mr.Bailey did NOT appreciate the business that he was afforded over the last 27 years due to the aforementioned fact. I asked if he would rather lose the respect, loyalty and business rather than change the flavor of a cake that was not NOT made yet....his response was " what is the name that it was ordered under?" I gave him my name again and he cancelled the order. There was NO interest in keeping our business, he offered no alternatives or resolution.

I assume he has grown too accustomed to his success and has forgotten how to provide TRUE customer service to LOYAl customers. This will truly be his loss because the same way I spread the word and sang his praises for his cakes over the last 27 years...I will sing the exact OPPOSITE and spread my discontent for the next 27 years.

Love the Italian Cream and Carrot cakes. Delicious & fresh. Have been using them since 1965!! They did my wedding cake too

The cake was moist and very delicious the design has been very Wow and exciting and times past. We hope the design next year will be great again.

We used That Special Touch Flowers for our wedding cakes for our wedding on 9/6. We had the bride cake that was 3 tier carrot and white cake and the grooms cake which was German chocolate cake. Starting with the tasting, where the baker was very pleasant and had samples of all of her flavors. They tasted great. She helped us determine how much cake we needed based on our guest list and as that changed, she helped us to adjust.

The cake at the wedding, not only looked beautiful, but was DELICIOUS!! It was moist, flavorful and for the next 4 days it continued to be delicious. I highly recommend using them for weddings, birthdays, any event that requires perfect cake.

I have to give it up for this BAKERY!!!! WHEN IT COMES TO DECORATION AND TASTE, THAT SPECIAL TOUCH IS THE PLACE TO ORDER... ALL 200 OF OUR WEDDING GUESTS WANTED MORE CAKE....LOL THANKS A MILLION FOR THE MEMORY. .. GUESS WHAT OUR ANNIVERSARY IS IN 5 DAYS WE ARE ORDERING A MINIATURE WEDDING CAKE....YEAHHH

Got little bit his 5th birthday cake here just now. The woman who helped us was so sweet. I had called the day before to ask about designs they had and she took it upon herself to write down some ideas in case I came in. The price was totally worth it and the kiddo had fun figuring out what he'd like. Thanks guys!!!!

I used That Special Touch as the vendor for my wedding cake and I can't begin to express how pleased I was with the cake and the experience of working with them. The wedding consultant was a pleasure to work with. My cake was absolutely delicious!! It was moist, tasty and beautiful... a rare combination. Unfortunately, my hubby and I only got the small pieces we cut during the cutting ceremony b/c our guests devoured the cake. Six months later and our guest are still talking about how good the cake was. There cakes are also very reasonably priced. We have our top layer but think we'll order a new top layer for our 1 year anniversary because it was just that good!

We are very thankful to have had That Special Touch make our cake. It turned out so beautiful and tasted so delicious. Angelas hospitality, honesty, and professionalism was on point. Highly recommend them to anyone trying to plan a wedding from out of state as well as locals. P. S. Not a single piece was wasted the guests loved it.

The cake awesome. Very moist. The only pr problem that i had was the cake box. I picked up a sheet cake and the top of my box was wrapped in plastic wrap. No box cover what so ever. I asked for a box cover and the older lady sitting in the back states that they didnt have any and the cake would be okay just not to leave it in the hot car. For the price of their cakes they need to provide nothing but the best boxes!!!

I ordered a cake from here for my wife's birthday. I arrived at the shop and they were just finishing up.. I looked at the cake, paid and took it home. When I opened the cake about 30 minutes later and the icing was sliding down the sides. I called the shop and told them what happened. i guessed that the girl had put icing on a warm cake and it melted. They said that it was my fault because I had to have left it in the heat or something. I had bought at least three cakes every year for a long time and have never had this happen. I told the lady that I had been in the food service business for over twenty years and knew how to handle food. She made no attempt to address my situation and didnt even say she was sorry. I will never buy from this place again. Losing six to eight cakes per year probably won't hurt their business but at least i will not have that happen again!

I have used That Special Touch Bakery for dozens of Birthdays, Anniversary and Wedding Cakes!!! I have never received anything but 100% satisfaction in taste and customer service!!! The staff goes out if their way to accommodate my needs every event that I am helping with floral arrangements. My friends and family have always made fun of my obsession with wedding cake and I put their almond against any I have EVER had!!!

We always get our cakes from here and they are always DELICIOUS !! Only downside is everything is special order, so you can t pick one up last-minute. :( Still the best cake around, though.

Best cakes anywhere! I have used these guys for every adult birthday for years, my kids 1st birthdays, and a friends wedding. I cannot emphasize enough that all flavors are fabulous and each cake beautiful! Reasonable prices! Fast turn around. Best bakery in Jackson metro!!!

Amazing job on my Husband's 50th birthday cake. They listened to the details and the cake turned out perfect! Also the flavor was so good and fresh. First time customer but now I'm a customer for life!

That Special Touch did my wedding cake 30 years ago, my oldest daughter s wedding cake 3 1/2 years ago and my youngest daughter s wedding cake last night. If I could give them 10 stars I would. Their cakes are the best I ve ever had and every guest at the weddings say the same thing. The only problem I have is deciding which is my favorite: Italian cream, strawberry or caramel. If you want a beautiful cake that tastes amazing, this is your place!!!

I love their cakes they are awesome I have used them for every occasion since 2010 and they have not disappointed me yet.

I only gave them 3 stars because I encountered a few issues. Firstly, the staff is extremely nice and one lady even called me several days before I was due to pick up my cake to verify some details. But, when I got there to pick it up, at the exact time I said i would be there, it wasn t ready... or even in the process. We re all human, and we all make mistakes. I was a bit irritated, but I tried to be nice about it. Nobody ever came out and told me exactly why my cake wasn t ready, although I heard them talking in the back, but one sweet lady did apologize. When I got the cake, it wasn t the right color. At that point, I had already been waiting too long and was late for the party I was hosting, so I just took it and didn t say anything. Needless to say... the focal point of my party didn t match anything else there, so I wasn t very happy about it. On a positive note: the cake was delicious and we had plenty for everyone.

The cake ordered was delicious!! Butter cake with butter creme icing.

There cakes are the BEST but they are too expensive. I too am a cake decorator and I do appreciate more than most the time and expense that goes into the cake but I still believe it is too much. But I do recommend them if you can afford them. I haven't found anyone better. I can only use them very occasionally. But I do when I can. As I said they are the BEST!!!!

Too expensive and rude people working for them. The first lady was nice. The next two times I went in they were disorganized and having to scramble to find my order.

I love the cakes from here! They are moist and not too sweet. My brother and new sister had a lemon buttercream cake made for the wedding and it disappeared fast!

Bought a Baileys Irish Cream cake for my dads birthday. When we all tasted the cake it did not taste like the Baileys Irish Cream cake we had ordered in the past from them but the bakery was closed for the night. I called first thing saturday morning when they opened and explained the unsatisfactory taste of the cake we received. The very nice manager remade the cake the same day and replaced it with a cake that was moist and delicious. Very satisfied returning customer will be ordering again!!!

Best cake ever best icing ever. They made my wedding cake 19 years ago. They have great birthday cakes too.

First of all, they don t accept credit nor debit cards. Then after getting home with the cake and cutting into the cake, it wasn t what I ordered. I wanted a plain 10 inch birthday cake with buttercream icing. Instead, I got an Italian cream cake with buttercream icing. When I placed the order the person taking the order seemed hard of hearing. I had to repeat myself several times. After calling back and letting them know that my order was wrong, the same person read off to me what they had written down. Needless to say, my birthday was partially ruined because I have the wrong cake and they won t right their wrong!

This establishment had a loyal customer in me. Once I purchased my first cake here, I was immediately sold on their product.
Unfortunately, the customer service doesn't match the quality of the cake. I ordered a birthday cake for my daughter's 5th birthday party (1\27\18), a 10 inch yellow round cake with CREAM CHEESE icing. As excited as I was to serve this cake, I was soon disappointed because the icing they put on the cake was BUTTERCREAM. I emailed the company that night to make them aware and followed the email with a call Monday (today). When I contacted the company to discuss their mistake. I quickly was accused of "getting over" and asked to bring a sample of what was left of the cake to be examined. I told the lady that I had no problem doing that, I just live 30 plus miles away and work the same hours of their operating weekday hours. After getting off the phone with Angela (I believe that's her name), I quickly realized, that I'm a paying customer. That I requested a product and did not receive what I ordered and paid for. Instead of discussing a solution, I was treated as if I were being dishonest. I never asked for a refund or a discount. My initial email was informing them of the mistake. Instead of a professional conversation, I was told that they don't make mistakes because they write the order down. Last I checked they are human and capable of making mistakes like the next man, but according to Angela, their sheet of paper makes them perfect. Needless to say, I will no longer patronize this bakery and will encouraging my friends, colleagues, church members, and others to do the same. This experience is enough to let me know that I can't enjoy another one of their cakes. I hate that other people have tried to "get over" on the employees at That Special Touch in the past, but that is no reason to treat every customer that has a complaint as if their complaint is not valid or as though they are fabricating.

Called earlier in the week and left a message saying I wanted to order a cake. I called back on Friday to hopefully order the cake but was told it was too late. I explained that no one returned my call. She went into a spill that sometimes their messages don't show up on their phone. Is this my problem? So now my family and I will miss out on the most awesome cake ever! What a bust!

I hired this bakery to make my wedding cake. I had several appointments to ensure that my cake was all that I wanted. However, I experienced every bride's worse nightmare. My wedding cake was NOT what I ordered and discussed with Angela. When I called I was accussed of being rude and hostile which I was neither. She stated and I quote, " I heard you guys in there and just dropped off the cake and left. She even offered to give me $100." Most business people would at least say something to the bride or someone there to let them know that the cake arrived. She basically left the cake, in my opinion, and didn't say thing because she knew it was not what we agreed to. She even offered to come back and fix the cake immediately. But, she sent someone a hour before my wedding started. The taste was great. But, the customer service was horrible! I would recommend this bakery to no one. For the cost of the cake, the service that was recieved and offered was inadequate.
