saw dr brenmar today, for a sudden body rash. as a retired physician, i attributed it to an allergic rxn from dye associated with a recent CT scan. i was just wanting a confirmatory opinion, regarding my own self dx. she essentially confirmed same.
my concern is that of her abysmal bedside manner. she very reluctantly shook my hand , after it was I whom offered it, she made me feel like i either i had no insurance or i was a lepor. she spoke over me, after i asked if i could explain some pertinant med history. she then displayed a defensive attitude. i felt like her time with me, was on the clock and of paramount importance. (remember, more patients seen = greater billing dollars). in summary, she never smiled once, explicitl;y "full of herself attitude", and i truly do not believe she knows my name. she did perform her bare clinicial responsibilities, but in essence it was a very unpleasant experience.,

I'm so thankful for this clinic. Around three years ago I went here with severe acne and depression caused by my insecurity due to acne. I came here and saw Dr. Bremner and after trying several solutions at other clinics, she gave a clear, concise recommended that I do Accutane. She made me feel very comfortable with the decision. Additionally, a staff member met with me to provide skin care recommendations to get through the very dry period of taking Accutane. I now have very clear skin, with a few blemishes here and there. My life is changed from this experience in an exceptionally positive way.

I read some of the reviews before I am leaving mine. I can't believe some people and how nasty they can be. I have had 3 Mohs surgery's in the last 5 years from Dr Lee and I couldn't be more pleased. He and his assistant have always been first rate on explaining and how the surgery turned out. I couldn't believe how I have no scars on my forehead where two of the surgeries were performed. I couldn't be more pleased with the results from Dr. Lee.

Thank you! After years of Dermatology hopping looking for the reason to a skin issue I need look no further. Dr. Chang and Dr. Lee are amazing. They worked together, identified the issue and I now have a plan that works.

Dr. Chang has such a warm personality and smile. Very calm and reassuring. You can tell her staff enjoys working with her. Her approach is great. She does what needs to be done and nothing extra you don t need. She looks at every inch of your body when completing checks for skin cancer. I feel confident in her hands and know that if a problem arises she can handle it. If I had to ever get bad news I d want her to be the one to tell me. She is that kind of doctor.

Dr. Lee is the go to for surgery, Mohs, reconstruction, laser and cosmetic surgery. Check out the picture of the huge book he wrote on techniques for surgeons. It gives surgeons a variety of ways to help patients. Impressive to say the least. He is a laser Expert for ELLE magazine. He is an expert on skin cancer, cosmetic and dermatological surgery. He is a national and international lecturer. He s a renowned researcher. On and On. He does a fantastic job for me. Has for years.

Here is what impressed me the most. Dr. Lee is humble. He is so down to earth. He is so very nice and cares about his patients. It s always a pleasure to see him.

Thank you PORTLAND Dermatology!!

Great experience! Same day appointment, friendly staff, short wait for doctor and great follow through. Dr. Bremner was wonderful. She took the time to complete a full examination, had a colleague provide a 2nd appointment on her conclusion and addressed all my questions and concerns. The office even called 2 days later to check in. Highly recommend.

I had a Melanoma In Situ removed from my face by Dr. Lee and I can't say enough about what a wonderful job he did. It was a 3 day process - 2 days to remove it and one day to close it up. I had a follow-up visit a week later. He explained everything he was going to do very carefully and made sure all my questions were answered. I interacted with 3 different nurses and they were all friendly and helpful. The office staff was also extremely friendly. I was impressed with all the information I received from the office before the procedure, including an email reminder of the appointment. Each time I went to the office, I was seen exactly at the time of my appointment. This is definitely the best medical office experience I have had.

I visited Dr. Shaw this morning and have nothing but good things to say about her, the staff and the clinic overall. I was promptly checked-in by the very courteous and helpful front desk staff, only waited about 5 minutes in the waiting area and greeted by the doctors assistant who led me into an examination room. The room (and entire clinic) were immaculate! Dr. Shaw was warm, efficient, very attentive and answered my questions thoroughly and professionally. I went for a body screening and to have a suspicious spot checked out, and she did a biopsy on the spot - which was so very helpful and appreciated. The entire visit took 1.5 hours and handled expertly. I would highly recommend this clinic!

The doctor spent about 3 mins on a full body check, said they none of my freckles looked malignant but I should come back annually for checking ups. He decide to biopsy 1 freckle from top of my foot, said it didn't look harmful but just different from all my others, quickly sliced it off and put a bandaid on me. I was done in 10 mins.

Then my bills came, the charges are very confusing, 3 charges from PDC plus 2 charges from Ohsu pathology for $837 total!!! I have great insurance but still have to pay almost $350 out of pocket. Wish they left that freckle on!

I have seen Dr. Alexander several times. I think he is great. He discovered all sorts of things on my skin, and he didn't biopsy anything that didn't need later attention. He is a skilled and knowledgeable dermatologist. He is friendly, patient, and informative. I think the staff at Portland Dermatology Clinic is great, too. They are pleasant and punctual. I don't enjoy having skin cancer, but I do enjoy going to visit Dr. Alexander. I highly recommend him and the Portland Dermatology Clinic.

I went to Dr Alexander re: a butterfly rash on my ...

I went to Dr Alexander re: a butterfly rash on my face that appeared a few years ago, when I was 23. He was very cocky in assuring me that this was not a Lupus malar rash because, oh wow, he had just come from a seminar on the topic. The problem is he has no experience with Lupus and is extremely arrogant to be carrying on as if he knows what he is talking about. Within a month, after many tests, I had a firm diagnosis for lupus and needed to start medication. Dr. Alex came to his conclusion inappropriately and prescribed me rosacea meds needlessly (glad I did not take!) Also he must not have been paying attention in his seminar because I had the "textbook" butterfly rash. He was very phony, tried making personal conversation about speaking Spanish. (I am not paying $100 for smarty-pants chit chat, Dr. Alex, especially when it feels forced and "salesman-y"), and his office is too aggressive with sales . They wanted to sell me on a full body screen for skin cancer which they were ready to do right there. When I declined they were pushy and tried to make me feel afraid of skin cancer with photos and factoids. The nurse was not pleasant about this awkward exchange but she and the other staff were not friendly in general. I did not feel Dr Alex was very thoughtful or even knowledgeable about health. When I asked what then was causing the rash, he replied "inflammation". I told him that inflammation is just a symptom of an underlying problem, and he agreed but basically no clue what was causing my rash and didn't seem to think there was anything I could even do about it. He told me it was just the "type" of skin I have and my parents probably had the same thing. "Rashy" isn't just another skin tone, like olive or fair. It's painful, irritated, inflamed, very pronounced, like a sunburn. Our skin communicates inner health. And no, my parents did not have butterfly rashes because neither one of them had lupus. I can not recommend this dork to anyone.

My daughter sees Dr. Chang for alopecia treatment. Dr. Chang has been wonderful to my daughter, she talks with her, not just me, she answers her questions and really values her as a person. The support staff are always polite, helpful and pleasant. The parking garage is easy & wonderful. We drive from a suburb and feel that it is worth the distance to see Dr. Chang.

On May 11th Dr. Lee and staff removed two small cancerous spots on my face utilizing the Mohs procedure. It is slightly more than a week post surgery and it's almost impossible to tell any work was done. Even the day after surgery, it looked just fine. I had procrastinated getting the surgery done thinking it would have a long healing time, be painful, etc.... but it was actually easy and pain free. My only complaint is that I forgot to bring Tylenol with me (I had an hour or so drive home) and they did not having any at the office. Small complaint for a such an incredible outcome.

When I first went to see Dr. Chang I was impressed...

When I first went to see Dr. Chang I was impressed at how quickly she removed my mole. She has a wonderful personality and seemed to be well informed. I decided to go to her regarding a rash on my legs that wouldn't go away. She thought it was from bed bugs, which I was recently infested by, and she prescribed a cream that is for rashes and takes also removes skin. This didn't help. I went to her again and she said the the cream was irritating the problem and that because I have varicose veins I needed to see a vein specialist. She only spent 5 minutes with me. I was not satisfied with her diagnoses.

I went to another dermatologist. Right away he said that I have atopic dermatitis. He asked me if I would like a biopsy to confirm what he thought it was; I received the biopsy. He prescribed an ointment for night time and a cream for day time. The biopsy confirmed that I have atopic dermatitis. The ointment and the cream he prescribed both work perfectly, without removing any skin. This doctor told me that my varicose veins have nothing to do with the eczema on my legs and stomach.

Dr. Chang is a very nice person, but she needs to spend a bit more time in making a diagnosis. If a patient is a repeat patient with a skin rash, like mine, she should have taken a biopsy.

I gave one star, as Dr. Chang was the one that wanted to biopsy, what turned out to be skin cancer. So thank you to her. However, the surgeon, Dr. Lee was horrible!! He left me with a huge gaping hole on the right side of my head. The way he was going to stitch it up, I would have been deformed!! He was going to pull my eye and skin in way that would half way closed my eye!! Then he said I could leave the wound open and let it heal on its own. What!! That wound was bigger than a silver dollar. So I called a plastic surgeon, got in two days later, she said I couldn't leave her office like that! She stitched it up, beautifully I must say, and a month later the wound is smaller than a dime. AND done without pulling on or deforming my face. I will never again see or recommend Dr. Lee.

Their "policy" is to require people to come in at least once a year in order to have their prescriptions refilled, even if said prescription is for a chronic, lifelong condition that the doctor has openly stated there is no cure and nothing she can do to help with. Nor did they need to take any blood tests or monitor any vitals, as it's not that kind of drug. Their "policy" is clearly a way to get more money out of patients and does not take the needs of chronically ill patients into account, and my husband and I will be going elsewhere in the future.

The only reason I didn't give Portland Dermatology...

The only reason I didn't give Portland Dermatology one star is because Dr. Bremner is a good physician. Unfortunately she sent me to her colleague, Dr. Ken Lee, to have a basal cell removed on my forehead. Arrogance aside, he completely dismissed my concerns about the Mohs procedure and how the scar would look. He drew aggressively on my forehead then pinched the area hard and said "you have CANCER, do you see this?" As a survivor of an actual cancer, I found his demeanor threatening and aggressive. He made me feel like I would die if I didn't get it removed THAT DAY and I was vain for being concerned about him shaving a 1-2 inch square out of the front of my head. Clearly I didn't do the procedure, as NO doctor should make you feel bad for asking questions. Dr. Lee should go back to school to learn bedside manner. I ended up seeing Dr. Kao, who was professional, detailed and KIND. He explained everything and made me feel good about the procedure. There was no need to shave my head, as expected. The procedure was done quickly and efficiently and his staff was amazing. Do yourself a favor, skip the bullying with Dr. Lee and see a REAL professional!

I agree with the reviews below about the fact that I was only seen for a few minutes and prescribed an invasive medication that I (luckily) did not ever take (it was a scabies treatment- the dermatologist tested me for it and I was NEGATIVE, but prescribed it anyways). However, I believe that it is not necessarily the doctors themselves who are at fault or are "bad doctors", but the Western Medical Model that is leading us astray. This WMM does not have a goal of finding the root cause, but merely just covering up the symptoms. It has been about 2 years since I went to an appointment at the Portland Dermatology Clinic complaining of incredibly itchy skin, particularly at night. It was so bad that I would itch myself until I started bleeding and couldn't sleep without putting cold towels on my legs and taking a benadryl. Today, I am almost 100% symptom-free and have a clear understanding of what causes my symptoms. My itchy skin was a result of intestinal permeability or "leaky gut". I was reacting to the foods that I was eating which was appearing as itchy skin. Although I still have much progress to make on healing my gut, I am happy to say that HOLISTIC medicine helped me determine what was actually going on and find relief from my symptoms which were serving as a warning sign for more serious conditions.

If you are interested in seeing a holistic dermatologist, I would highly recommend Dr. Hilary Costello at The Center for Traditional Medicine in Lake Oswego. She can do mole checks as well as help you determine the root cause of your symptoms. I hope that my review will help people avoid the unnecessary suffering that I endured for several months.

I also hope that the doctors at Portland Dermatology Clinic will realize the importance of spending more time understanding what is going on in the overall health of their patients rather than jumping to conclusions and prescribing invasive medications unnecessarily.

My wife has gone to this clinic several times for skin issues. In the past the experience has been good with caring staff and good treatment. In her most recent visit Dr Resnick was rude, scolded her for washing her face with "products," didn't take the time to explain the problem or even ask questions. She then left the room without even a good luck or good bye. This left my wife, already struggling with a breakout, feeling puny and seriously upset. I would avoid Dr. Resnick like the plague.

There are some great professionals at this clinic. Everyone that I have had interaction with has been a true professional who really cares. Unfortunately, I'm there more than I want to be but my condition is much better and in control. Dealing with any condition is difficult but knowing that you have good people helping you makes it so much less stressful. Dr. Adler is really a fantastic doctor. Very very smart Doc and always listens. I feel fortunate to have been referred here. I have been coming here for many many years and I have always felt good about the attention I've received.

Location was ideal, beautiful high class building, staff was pretty good, but dr shaw was a joke. I went to her with three separate programs, severe itchy skin, chronic chapped lips and pigmentation. Each problem she told me that there was nothing she could do about it and then went on to talking for several minutes without saying anything. It was incredibly frustrating and I plan on seeking a second opinion. This was overall just a giant waste of my time.

I have been a patient of Dr. Adler's for decades (and he has barely aged...I need his secret!), and he is no doubt the best! I have had wonderful service from him and all the staff, have never had to wait long (often only 5-10 minutes, if that), and there is parking in the building which, being where the location is in NW Portland can be difficult. Dr. Adler always asks how things are going, listens to me and tells me to say hello to my husband who is also a patient. You just can't beat this Dermatology Clinic!

The clinic was nice, but making a profile online was constantly deterred by tech issues. Dr. Hopkins was very nice when I met with him a couple times for scalp issues, which developed into hair loss. He gave me a steroid to use, one after another-but did not inform me how to use the products and when my condition was worsening, simply gave me a different steroid a couple times. I didn't realize it at the time, but I learned I had been developing steroid withdrawal as I was using it too much and I think he should've known that, considering he kept prescribing these to me. My condition has gotten worse and I fear of long-term issues due to the excessive usage of the steroids. Being nice is a sorely appreciated trait, but adequately informing your patients of your treatment plans/ reasons is just as crucial!

The issue I made an appointment for, Dr. Bremner missed, and the entire appointment was a waste of time and money. I went to a free screening a couple months after this appointment, in conjunction with the Providence Bridge Pedal. The doctor there spotted the mark on my nose, and recommended I see their doctor. When I had that appointment, the doctor spotted the mark and found a second spot also, froze them off, and I'm on my way.
Portland Dermatology not only missed the mark I came in for, didn't see the second one, and tried to upsell me on service during my appointment.
I will never use their clinic again
