Last fall my wife and I were thinking about going solar. We had four companies come out and give us their sales pitch and Technicians For Sustainability and one other company were the only ones that could talk knowledgeable about how the system works.
We chose TFS because we felt they would do a better job and they were local and were owned by their own employees.
We are extremely happy that we chose them. They put our panels on quickly and efficiently and they have kept in contact to check that everything is working well.(It is.) They made the whole process as easy as possible.
What is more is that our electric bill is out of sight. We were paying $360/month on budget billing with TEP. Our last two bills have been $22 and $19. Wow. I can't believe it is that low. We have a house and guest house with 7 people living here.
I have recommend TFS to my friends and anyone that is interested in solar. You can't beat them.

A number of our neighbors had used TFS and recommended them highly. We were very pleased with the whole process, from initial contact (people answer the phone! you don't get a telephone tree) through survey, installation, and turning the system on. We are very satisfied customers.

TFS installed a solar array on my roof and the experience was as good as one could hope for. service was completed on time. Had issues with communication and follow through with paperwork which almost delayed completion. But at the end TFS corrected all issues and pushed for on time completion. If they would have had better communication at the beginning I would have rated them higher. I recently installed a Tesla Powerwall back-up system with a 27KWH capacity. TFS was able to tie this into my existing solar panel array which I installed in 2010; I could not be more pleased with their effort.

TFS did an outstanding job in both planning the entire system, coordinating the installation with TEP, and making absolutely sure everything was up and running flawlessly.

In fact, on the day they installed a new 200 AMP service, my power needed to be off for much of the day. And when it looked like TEP was going to be quite late in restoring power, TFS was prepared with back-up systems to keep the house running. But TFS stayed late on the job, waited for TEP's arrival to restore power, and completed the operation.

If you are considering solar and/or back-up power solutions, look no farther than TFS. And now, even into 2020, while the IRS tax credits are still substantial, this is the perfect window to GO SOLAR!!

We installed solar through TFS almost 7 years ago as a Sun Power lease. The installation was professional. The personnel were easy to work with. The system mounts, equipment, panels, inverter have lasted through the heat, rain, snow and high winds. The panels have functioned "better than expected" to this day. Love the low utility costs. The relationship with TFS has lasted as well. We hear from TFS every so often and they always answer questions. We still report no problems!!

TFS provides wonderful service by communicating quickly and clearly. The staff did a great job managing my expectations and the whole process went incredibly smoothly, especially given the complicated nature of the project. I wholeheartedly encourage you to work with TFS for your solar projects. We had a solar PV system put in to meet all our demands on an annual basis with a grid tied system.

We had TFS install our solar electric system a little bit over a year ago. We chose them based on multiple recommendations from friends and neighbors, and we weren't disappointed. The estimator was clear about expectations and where the system would be installed. And the install itself was completed ahead of schedule.

Now that we've had the system a bit over a year, I will say that it does what we'd hoped. Except for certain winter months, we have only a metering charge on our electric bill. (Since we have electric heat, and winter days are shorter, we knew that we might get small bills during winter, and we did this past winter.)

We did check with several other companies prior to going ahead with TFS. TFS's price was competitive, and we felt much more comfortable with their reputation versus the other companies we talked with. We highly recommend TFS for solar electric systems.

Job well done. They talked me through the whole process and quickly and comprehensively answered all the questions I had. They took care of everything and there was great communication throughout the process, too. Really took all the complexity out of the process. Then, when the second progress payment was due, I was out of the country for a few weeks and couldn't immediately send a check. According to the contract they wouldn't have continued with the work till I paid but after explaining the situation they continued anyway without any more questions (I really didn't expect or even ask them to). After the installation it took only a few days to have the inspection done (they took care of this, too) and have the system up and running. My neighbor had Solar installed last month from a different company (against my recommendation) and they had to wait almost a month for the inspection. After everything was complete, they checked back a few times to see if I had any problems (I didn't). I had noticed a few minor air pockets under the coating they had put around the stands of the panels, nothing serious and I wouldn't even have mentioned it, but as they asked, I pointed it out. They came out to fix those and in the process completed some coating on a different part of the roof where I had done some unrelated work but hadn't been able to finish, yet. Oh, and the online monitoring is way more interesting to watch than it's supposed to be!

My husband and I have lived in several houses over the years, and have implemented many improvements to each and every one of them. Therefore, we have dealt with a wide variety of contractors as well. The employees at TFS are some of the most engaged, educated and honest workers we have ever encountered. They showed up on time, with smiles on their faces, and with the energy and know-how to install our PV solar energy system in a very timely manner. They took the time to answer our questions and to thoroughly explain our new system. We are very pleased and highly recommend them!

Before contacting any of the various solar companies in the Tucson area I did some research into which solar panels are the most efficient, perform the best in high temperature, and have the best warranties. I then found out that Technicians for Sustainability (TFS) was using solar panels from LG whose solar panels are tops in all three categories I researched. That moved TFS to the top of my list of solar panel installers to consider.

I recommend TFS to anyone considering a PV system in the greater Tucson area. From coming to my home to assess my needs through the bid and final installation, everyone with whom I interacted at TFS was top notch. I am very happy with my new system and enjoy using the monitoring software that TFS provided. It s great to see how much my LG panels are producing each day and how I am lowering my Trico electric bill each month.

I have had my system for a little more than a year. Installation was very professional. The system has worked very well since. We have just had a yearly check up that was thorough. I could not be more pleased with the entire experience and my solar system.

TFS did a great job on my solar system. The staff listened to my requests and followed through on the project. It was installed in a professional manner and on schedule. Both the materials and workmanship were top notch.

I've had two sets of panels installed on my house. In 2009 I interviewed Sun Power of AZ and TFS. I thought they were both well qualified, but ended up going with the smaller company (Sun Power) to help the "littler" guy. I believe Sun Power did a fine job and have had no issues to date with their equipment or installation.

In 2013 I decided to add 10 more panels to bring my net yearly use to approximately zero. I still wanted to stay local to benefit Tucson and to use a company that used installers that worked just for them. I went with TFS the second time. I couldn't be happier with the entire scope of the TFS job. They were courteous, communicated well, showed up on time, did exactly what was agreed upon and installed a professional looking system. After the job was finished I felt that TFS had given me a quality installation at a fair price. Despite the fact that they continuously monitor the performance of my system (it's not a leased system, so I'm not sure they need to do this), they've checked in on me yearly to see if I had any issues.

Additional point: During the TFS initial site inspection, the estimator quickly noted that a few of the Sun Power panels probably shaded a small portion of 6 other panels in late December. I told him he was correct. I liked the fact that this bugged him, and he wanted to correct it. Although I can't remember what he added to the cost to prevent the shading, I remember it being a minor amount. That small adjustment improved the output of my Sun Power panels 50% in late December/early January! I'm not sure other contractors would've cared about another installation or, if asked to correct the situation, would've charged anywhere near what TFS did. TFS is a for profit company, but I certainly get the feeling that is not their number one priority.

Solar City is making a big push around the country to install leased systems at no up-front out-of-pocket cost. Before going with such a large company that contracts out installations, I would ask that you include TFS in your bids. I believe TFS is trying to work with TEP to provide the same sort of lease system that Solar City would.

I've had my second solar system from TFS for about 2 months now. First system has been running for over 10 years with no problems and no leaks on the roof. The new system is larger and has cost half as much and was installed and turned on in record time. TFS must have a good reputation with TEP or are fast with the paperwork, because TEP was out putting in the new Meter in four days. Other people I know at work having their system installed before ours are still waiting for TEP after a month. Their engineering is top notch also. They have had to size the system to take into account future new loads (Electric Cars) and have come out with exactly the right size both times. Finally the employees own the company, do you think that might have something to do with the great service you get from them?

Almost forgot, TFS uses financing from Clean Energy Credit Union, a company that they helped found, and who's rates are unbeatable. Good Luck with your purchase, the time has come for it. Thanks-

I was looking for a good solar provider around my area which came down to 2 choices. TFS or Solar City. After weighing pros and cons, Solar City was just too expensive for my budget lengthening the ROI. TFS are professionals who really care about the planet's future- not just making a quick buck or commission. We were offered different options and chose the Life Good panels- slightly pricier but with an incredible warranty. TFS personnel are personable and their follow-up and patience unending.

TFS was first rate from the start to the finish. They came out to the house, climbed up on the roof and did a thorough review and then submitted a very complete plan and cost estimate. The plan showed where the panels would be placed, and what would be the cost savings each month. The installation went smoothly and they were always available and prompt to answer my questions and return my calls. Now the system is in place and we are enjoying the minimal monthly bill and the knowledge that we are doing a little bit at least to help the environment.

The installation crew...the BEST! They arrived at the time they said they would be there...6:00 AM. What a nice group of guys! The first day they were on the roof along with the roofers...I was wondering how that would go, but both crews got along great and were respectful of each others work, a reflection of the professionalism of each. Even though it was well over 100 degrees on install day. Whew! They were neat, tidy and got down to business.

I have had my PV system since Feb 2019. Every step of the process was clear and explained as often as needed until I understood what was happening. Everyone is forthright and honest about the how's and why's. The follow up after install is never more than a phone call or email away. I never felt like I was waiting for a response. You invest a significant amount of money in a PV system and TFS delivers the service you would expect on such an investment. Being a local company, and one who is focused not just on the profitability but the sustainability in what they do just adds extra layers of satisfaction. If you think it sounds too good to be true it isn't. This review is written about a year after I first met with Brian to explore my options...its not a honeymoon phase review. If you are thinking about calling them do it, you won't be disappointed.

If you are looking for solar this is the place to go! We had them install a new LG 4.38 kW system. The installation went very smoothly in fact they were done in about 6 hours. You do need to keep in mind that at this point the system is not functional. TEP has to come in and add the meters to the system. These monitor the electricity created by the system and the electricity used by the house. Our system creates about 90% of the electricity we use and I can monitor what our system make anytime from my cell phone! Solar is the right thing to do for our environment and our children future! Also Tucson is an awesome place to take advantage of solar!

I had several different solar companies come out to my house. Most of them made claims that were clearly refuted by data I had in my hand (mostly the places that push their lease programs using phony data to make you think purchasing is a bad idea). Only TFS and GeoInnovation gave me numbers that made sense. They were also the only companies that checked out my home's electric to make sure everything was OK. I chose TFS because my research made me lean toward SunPower PV modules, but I would recommend looking into GeoInnovation as well as TFS.

The total time to complete was astoundingly quick. Other companies were saying about 6 months. TFS took a few weeks -- the actual install was a few days. And the workmanship is top notch.

I used TFS's financing option. Other than a couple of quick calls to clarify one or two things, the process couldn't have been easier -- aside from an initial deposit, everything was done by phone and email until AFTER the system was up and running, when all I had to do was go in and sign a few things.

From the initial meeting with TFS to the final signing of the paperwork, the entire process took just a few hours of my time, and my electric bill was basically replaced with a nearly-identical finance payment that will eventually go away and then I'll be enjoying clean energy for zero cost.

Seamless installation, effortless financing. Prior to installation, summer gas bills almost $1,00 per month (gas fired chillers for air-conditioning) along with about $350 in electric bills, Now June - temps around 100 F), $50/month for gas hot water and $20/month electricity. Very professional and easy installation process! We highly recommend TFS!!

I received 3 different proposals for solar on our home in Oro Valley. TFS was recommended by Mellgren Homes (best remodeler in Tucson area) and their proposal was 20% cheaper than the most expensive option (largest solar company in U.S.). What I liked most was that TFS offered a choice of two different solar panels which the other companies did not. It took several months to get all of the paperwork done, but TFS took care of it. TFS employees are professional and good to work with always having a positive attitude!

The installation only took two days and is a very clean look; no unsightly cable paths on the outside of our home. After the install it took TEP about a week to install a new meter and to let us know that we could start production. You can download an app or watch the system work online. Since we just bought our home we do not have a good records of use but hope that our 5.0kWh system is correctly sized; we were told that we could add up to 5 more panels as needed without any changes to the inverter. This is good to know IMO.

I would highly recommend TFS to anyone who needs a solar system!

We have found the communication with TFS to be professional, consistent and timely. We were kept informed of all the steps from the beginning conceptual plans to the final installation. Our system is now up and running and producing as promised. As a home owner the installation was easy and there was no debris, waste or anything left behind. It is obvious that TFS looks upon their responsibilities as a mission to help our planet rather than solely a way to make money. I would definitely use them again.

Everyone that we dealt with at TFS was VERY professional. They were very understanding and helpful with all our questions. They were quick and efficient in installing. TEP was slow but not TFS. We love the software they gave us to follow what our panels are making every day, etc. We have several friends who didn't go with TFS and are not happy with their software. Ours gives us so much more information than theirs. We strongly would recommend them to everyone. It was a great experience.

I am so glad that I had TFS install the solar panels. It was with real pleasure and ease to be able to coordinate the installation of the panels while I was in New Mexico. It was a seamless process. One of my neighbors emailed me that TFS was at work by 7 am and they were impressed too. When I said that I needed a visual set of instructions so the young (age 13) girl who was watching my house could check the operational lights, I was promptly sent a great pdf file with the panel lights highlighted and explained - perfect and great service.

As for the panels themselves - well - last months bill was +6.40 and no $$ due. I am looking at a cloudy sky this morning and am newly aware of the sun in all aspects of my life.

Looked at 3 solar companies. TFS pre-sales was by far the best and ran all the traps with TEP before finalizing quote. Knew exactly what was going on. Their price was very competitive and they won the business. TEP slowed the installation by 5 months - but it is to be expected. The installation crew was outstanding, very talented mixture of local guys - super sharp. Post instillation had been great - no problems and the array is performing as expected. No brained 10% return on investment. Should be on your short list of solar installers.
