Stayed for one night and wish we had stayed longer!
The hotel has been recently refurbished , hence previous reviews about it needing a make-over have been addressed. our room was modern, very big, with a large bathroom (free standing bath and a separate shower) , and windows overlooking Loch Awe. the view was breathtaking.
It is a little bit remote, but totally worth it for the view, the service, the overall experience.
What impressed me the most, after the location, was the attention to detail in the hotel. There is a fire pit with benches outside, allowing you to sit by the lake in the colder days/evenings or just in the quiet of the night. You can get blankets and even insect spray, umbrellas, wellies, torches, everything you need to make your venture outside as comfortable as possible. There is a games room stocked with interesting games and cards, or you can play croquet outside. There are gowns in the room and plenty of towels. The hotel is dog friendly and provides some dog treats and tennis balls for your pet to chase (with the thrower added in too!) .The restaurant serves amazing food - we did plan to venture into the nearby town for dinner but seeing the restaurant menu decided to stay and dine in - absolutely the best choice! Please pass our regards to the chef and the waiters.
The hotel was a great romantic getaway - as remote as it gets whilst providing 100% of the little comforts you need to feel at ease. The service was impeccable and all the staff very friendly. I don't visit same places twice usually (too many to explore!) but this one is definitely on the list to come back to!

This lovely place is a must-visit! Arrive to the awe-inspiring location and views, then step into the warmth and comfort of this beautiful historic Coaching Inn, now transformed into a delightful hotel. The team, led by General Manager Michelle, are professional, generous and knowledgeable. They know how to create the best of guest experiences. Choose to relax in one of the many lounge areas or take a stroll around the grounds with it s photo-worthy backdrop and make sure to enjoy a tipple in the bar before (and after) dinner! You won t regret it! The kitchen team are worthy of a particular mention and your tastebuds (and eyes) will not be disappointed. Think this will be one place we will return to time and again....

Called in after seeing the sign on the main road. Rude woman told us they weren't open. Subsequently found out they were closed for upgrading. I suggest you take down or cover your sign if closed for a long period

Been here twice, going a third time. This is an amazing hotel with a great view, staff are extremely pleasant. I recommend this to everyone I know that is traveling to this area of Scotland.

What a lovely peaceful hotel in a perfect location overlooking Loch Awe. Michelle, George, Alistair, Rebecca and all staff perfect and nothing is any trouble to them. We stayed for 3 days and the food was astounding!! For breakfast there was smoked haddock with a poached egg which was delicious. Main courses to die for Guinea fowl, hogget, langoustines and lobster tail all first-class. Bedroom wonderful with a fabulous bed and superb loch view. We even caught a fish!!! Would certainly go back to this hidden gem and look forward to returning.

Filthy carpeting, windows, moldy bathroom ceiling, used soap, a capped, 3/4used bottle of water left with filled bottle, moths flying around the room, dark drips on wall next to trash can, cold food served with extremely slow service (in comparison to 10 other UK hotels). It s only saving grace was the grounds, which were blooming spectacularly. At check out I was told I would receive a call back and am still waiting. So many other wonderful options to choose, this sadly is not one.

Visited again this summer after 47 years away. We honeymooned there in 1973. Property is picture perfect on a small promontory on Lock Awe with views both across and down the lake. Rooms excellent, staff excellent, food very good. Nothing to complain about at all. We had lovely weather this trip, so sitting out in the evening with fellow guests with a beer was a very pleasant experience.

An amazing place we called in but they were full with a wedding Christine showed us around what a place!

Staff were all so pleasant and smiling

They've just been refurbished and the smell of fresh paint lingered in the air always reassuring to see and old building so well looked after.

Can wait to come back in May!

Excellent service all around. Great location with the lake directly in front of the hotel. We enjoyed a very good dinner. They have won a Rosette award many years in a row and it shows. Our dog was welcomed and enjoyed the surroundings. Every staff member was attentive and helpful. It is an older building but our room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. One suggestion is to improve the Wi-Fi but we liked sitting in one of the two reading / lounge rooms where access was better.

We loved this place. After the booking website messed up our reservation these guys couldn't do enough to make things up to us. It's a secluded, romantic loch-side place hidden away from the world, with good food, wonderful staff and perfect suites.

Fantastic location. Food was amazing. Staff couldn't be any more helpful or more friendly. The room and the view was beautiful! Was surprised just how peaceful it was sitting by the edge of the Loch and relaxing

I would like to say a very big thank you to Ben the manager. My husband Andy of ABENERGY travelled up from Carlisle to a breakdown of the boiler late last night and Ben very kindly gave us a room for the night and provided us with breakfast this morning. The hotel is a little gem and has the most amazing views and the staff are wonderful. Thank you hopefully your boiler will keep running well now.

Wedding bliss -
The fantastic Fox that is Christine and her wonderful team hosted my wedding August 18th 2018.
I have to say the entire ordeal of wedding planning and venue headaches disappeared once we booked here. Nothing is too much trouble and it is an understatement to say the team went above and beyond to make the day perfect.
The food is out of this world, hats off to chef who blew the tastebuds of an entire wedding party with a simple piece of cauliflower!!! .
The compliments from our guests flowed all day, all left with full bellies and smiles from ear to ear.
The stunning views, gorgeous rooms and amazing staff make this place.... out of this world.

Just returned from 3 nights in this fantastic hotel. Turned up wet and bedraggled on our motorcycle and they didn't bat an eye, we were welcomed as though we were family. In fact, this would properly describe how we were treated by all the staff (cleaners included!). Nothing was too much trouble.

Our room was beautiful with a fantastic view of the Loch.

We ate all our meals in the restaurant, although there is an option of eating in the bar area. The food was out of this world, as was the breakfast.

This place is a real tucked away gem. Michelle, George and the rest of the team.... we will be back!

A beautiful, peaceful, lochside setting and very comfortable rooms. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and good fun too. It's a glorious location and a super stopover if you're touring. We stayed only one night but two or more would have offered a relaxing haven from which to explore the surrounding area.

The hotel offered a good mixture of the traditional with some well thought out contemporary additions. Views are gorgeous, including from some of the rooms.

The food at dinner and at breakfast was beautifully prepared and presented; the wine list was well chosen and not overpriced. A beautiful setting and excellent ambience that won't disappoint.

This is a very comfortable hotel, and in a beautifully quiet part of Argyll. The staff were attentive and helpful, rooms were well equipped and the dining experience was good. The chef delivers meals which are freshly prepared, good portions and well balanced for flavour. It is family friendly and pets are allowed. Can recommend.

A very nice place to go and relax. Fabulous views and hotel has many activities available on request. Homely and cosy areas to sit and look at the views of Loch Awe inside and outside. All staff are attentive and friendly and put you at ease as soon as you arrive. Bedrooms are comfortable. The lack of good signal for TV or 4G/wifi is not offputting as you should be here to relax and enjoy living without media for a few days. The food menu is varied and of good quality. We certainly recommend this hotel for a relaxing few days away from the hustle and bustle of today's life.

Absolutely excellent: no / v. limited mob. signal, Wi-Fi not much better - one of the attractions, good for a techie detox ALL staff phenomenally pleasant, friendly and helpful. Rooms extremely clean, as is the rest of the hotel. Good range of good drink(s) in the bar, extremely good wines in the restaurant to too, which compliment the - out of this world wonderful food.

We've forgotten a child blanket ...... 4 phone call s later, nothing received.
There are better hotels with ad hoc service

Stayed here back in April.
Dinner was excellent. I was charged for breakfast but didn't actually have anything - not even a coffee.. Room was below average - shower was barely a dribble. Did ask for another room but was told there was a wedding party coming early doors who had booked the whole hotel so I was understanding. That was until I met the couple getting married who explained their guests were coming in the afternoon. So that was pretty disappointing service. Extremely short staffed but the ones who were there were lovely. Location is amazing with great views. Owner could do with staffing a bit more and with a bit more investment around the hotel it could be amazing but not quite yet unfortunately.

Beautiful hotel by the lake. Lost and therefore peaceful, it is the ideal stop for a romantic overnight stay. The restaurant offers a more than good quality menu. The room was spacious and comfortable. The only drawback regards the ventilation of the kitchen that works from 7 to 20.30. Our room was adjacent to the ventilation pipe and it was not nice to wake up with the noise in your ears. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Great location overlooking a lake with immobile waters. Very courteous (they managed to make us dinner even though they arrived late) and the room and bathroom were exceptionally spacious. The common areas are also very well kept and comfortable. We would have liked to stay longer!

Delightful, charming and slightly quirky little place! So much nicer than the usual hotel set up. Staff could not have been more helpful, WiFi awful, but who cares with views love this. Extremely dog friendly too.

Great 15 bed hotel in beautiful surroundings. Excellent choice of meals and a good hearty breakfast on offer too
Dog friendly if that's important to you and managed in such a way that the other guests are not inconvenience.

If you love old but comfortable English (well in this case Scottish) charm then this is the place for you. The hotel is situated near a lovely loch and i loved discovering its surroundings. The staff was lovely but I was disappointed in the overpriced lunch and dinner menu. Breakfast was also a let-down (the porridge they served me didn't deserve the name porridge)

The Taychreggan Hotel is truly first-rate, from the exceptional and personal service to the classic menu and wonderful meals. Our room was small, by our choice, and immaculately maintained, beautifully furnished. The common areas are like those in a home, and it was easy to fall into comfortable conversations with people who anywhere else would be strangers. Wonderful place.

we arrived late. Everything was prepared. The location of the Hotel is great directly near Loch Awe. Rooms are specious with nice furniture.

Service was very warm and friendly. Miguel was a great host. The dinner was an event. Food in best quality, great service.

The place where this hotel is located is an authentic past. From the room where you have breakfast the views of the lake are beautiful. The hotel itself is run by young and very nice girls, although you have to look for a bit to find someone to help you. The bathrooms are somewhat small and the worst is the flow of water, minimum, in the shower. It is noted that it is a somewhat aged building but with a lot of charm. Lots of lounges, minipub, all exquisitely decorated. The breakfasts very good, half Continental, half what you ask.

The main drawback in my opinion is the dreaded access road. Several kilometers that will test your handling of the steering wheel and calculation of safety distance as you cross with someone, a probable thing.
