Location is beautiful and nice. Good views. It is meant for small weddings for about 100 people or less. One of the biggest issues is the small space. Cocktail hour is held in small rooms with no place to sit, only a few tables for so many people. Second biggest issue was the food, it was acceptable in cocktail hour.
But in the main event, the food on just awful. The salad was just a bunch of leaves with balsamic vinegar, crappy presentation. The steak we all ordered was not properly cooked for anyone. No one received the right cook on their steak. And it tasted terrible as well. Dessert was also uninspiring. The tables were basically empty all the time.

The area is lovely and the estate is picturesque! The rooms were mostly very nice- comfortable beds, clean facilities over all. The bathrooms in the room could use a bit of attention- ceiling tiles had some rust and mold. But, very little else as far as complaints go. Friendly staff, close to lots of historic house tours, bars & restaurants. Would definitely return!

Came here for a work retreat. The food was great, and the rooms were clean and spacious. I also went for a run along the old aqueduct path. It can be hard to find at first, but it's very pleasant.

Pretty nice place if you want to host an in-service or event, but a caution: there's only one elevator in the entire complex that goes from floors 1-3. If you have someone who had difficulty with stairs I would not recommend staying here.

Went for a wedding. Building and grounds have a nice atmosphere. Cocktail hour was spread among multiple tiny spaces. Sortof a bad thing as it was hard to communicate with different groups. Food was average. Tastier than the dinner course. Half of my table was poured wine and not the other half. Soup was brought out with no soup spoon. There was one bread dish on the table and all other guests got their bread out on their main dish. Just tiny strange things. Overall decent experience.

Our first time at this hotel, we stayed for a lovely weekend to explore the beauty of Tarrytown, Hudson river parks, Lyndhurst Castle and the Lighthouse.
The grounds are beautiful, and the cottages scattered throughout the property very picturesque.

What an absolute delight it was to stay here! Such beautiful well maintained grounds with breathtaking views! Astounding older buildings with so many amazing details and uniqueness. They have done an amazing job maintaining the entire compound and preserve all the rich history!

A great place for a getaway.... so much to do...indoor and outdoor pool, tennis courts, bocce ball court, cornhole, horseshoes, raquet ball, a huge gym that will entice all gym going types, with a classic elliptical area, a heavy weight section, and the best part was the kickboxing/crossfit area!

You really dont even need to leave the grounds with their own pub and great food as well as a game room to kick back in with pool and foosball.

At night enjoy a peaceful evening around the firepit or late night swimming!

So much to see, and exploring the grounds is worth the trip!

Please read before booking (I know, its long!)
I believe most of what's creating the high rating for this hotel would be the restaurant ratings and the ratings as a wedding venue (this is a hotel review only) because the hotel is seriously lacking and was VERY disappointing (especially for the price).

If you are looking for 4 walls and a bed, look no further but if you are looking for a nice "get away" hotel ... move on! This was a birthday getaway, and I honestly would have rather stayed home.

Pros:
1. The grounds are beautiful! The gardens, the buildings, driving up through, just beautiful. The night we arrived there was a wedding going on in the front building and it was beautiful with the lights and everything.
2. You really feel like you are out of the city, very quite and out of the way
3. Keurigs in the rooms
4. The beds are so comfy and the sheets are so soft.

That's honestly all the good I have to say about this hotel though.

Cons:
1. Arrived for check-in and had to wait over 20 minutes for our room to be ready (check in is 4pm, we arrived on time).
2. You park and have to walk at least 2 buildings away from your car to your room, so remember that when packing - it's a long haul with a lot of baggage.
3. There is not enough parking so you may end up having to park even further away, we had late (7:45) dinner reservations so by the time we got back it was impossible to find any spots, we had to park in the very far parking lot at the bottom of the (pretty steep) hill, mind you there are no sidewalks so you walk on the roadway in the dark (be mindful if your only footwear is heels ) where there are cars driving around.
4. The vending machines either dont work, are sold out or the stuff is expired. Not to mention we had a hard time finding them.
5. The signage is not all correct, when looking for vending the signs sent us on a wild goose chase.
6. The grounds and buildings are tough to navigate, they literally give you a map!
7. The rooms are beyond outdated, and I dont mean it's an older style (I was aware of that when booking) it is literally dingy/old outdated/overused stuff and hardly decorated.
8. The walls are PAPER thin, you can literally hear the people in the next rooms DETAILED conversations (as well as other things ... queue the 6am wake up call thanks to our spunky neighbors )
9. The TV is small and pretty old so not the best picture, no HDMI ports or DVD player
10. The water is hard, you can smell it on the towels and in the shower. A lot of others complained about pressure but I did not find an issue with that.
11. The room service prices are ridiculous, you expect prices to be high ($26 for a chicken sandwich is pretty standars) but there is an additional gratuity charge as well as a $7 room service fee!

I would absolutely never stay here again. I have stayed at 3 of the local chain hotels (with in 2 miles from here) at the same price point and would recommend them over this one every time. The Expedia and Google ratings are both 4-star and I just dont understand how, when comparing to other hotels in the area

Bar was closed when we arrived. Site advertised business hours and a menu that had been changed a while back (as per hotel staff). I definitely enjoyed walking the grounds. Perhaps they can get a 5 star when I actually enjoy some drinks/food.

Horrible parking situation. Had to walk across the property because they provide only 16 spots for an entire 3 floor section near the rooms. Pets must be allowed because I was awakened by barking dogs outside my door. I had a bad lightbulb so I took it out and left it for the maid to replace. Came back to find the bulb still sitting on the desk near the lamp. The room was very nice but for the price I paid I expected more. A motel would have been easier cheaper and just as nice. Save your money.

Parking is terrible. There are no where near enough spaces and the locations are not convenient. I stayed in the Putnam wing so perhaps the other wings such as Westchester are better. The flushing the toilet was very weak. The shower water pressure could use some help also. The room was generally clean and the bed was okay. It was not extremely plush or super comfortable but it was adequate. The room could generally use updating. There were many nice pictures of the historical area which was very nice. The rate was low enough that I suppose it was adequate but there are more comfortable options in the area.

Kings Mansion was outstanding . My only recommendations would be to have an ice machine. My sister and I went all over to find one, to far away from where we stayed. Very hot in room and the heater/air vent was broke.

If I said the hotel was long, it would be an understatement. It s limited in its handicap accessibility and you will be carrying your luggage up and down stairs. However, rooms were older but spacious and moderately updated. The view is incredible.

Conference and event staff here is very helpful and attentive. The grounds are stunning, with gorgeous views. Rooms could use some refreshing, and a bit of modernization. Food is plentiful, and good. Bartenders at Cellar 49 are excellent.

Pool was closed, bed was rock hard, breakfast not included, staff seemed to treat us differently than other guests at check in probably based on the clothing we were wearing. "Can I help you with reservations for dinner?" Vs. "You can eat at the bar"

The hotel itself is beautiful, and the rooms are well laid out and super comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. Giving it 4 stars only because the shower head in my room was broken and had almost no water pressure. Water was also a bit hard. Good stay overall, and a great value.

Amazing venue in every way! We attended a 3 day conference and everything was perfect. Great food, beautiful rooms, picturesque setting, great facilities. They even had to-go boxes at meals so you could eat elsewhere if you liked. Only minor complaint was slow wifi in my room.

Tarrytown house is a nice place to stay. But if you plan on using them for a venue be prepared for them to not call you back or pick up the phone. Sometimes they do pick up the phone only to transfer you to someone else that is not helpful. They do not return calls when we repeatedly called about using there restaurant, Cellar 49, as the place we would have our rehearsal dinner. Seeing as we were staying there it would have been convenient. Also we wanted to see if they would keep there bar open for a couple more hours after our wedding to come back to, we had a off site wedding. Understandable that they need to pay bills and make money but to charge $4200 plus a bartender plus you had to pay for your own drinks it was a little outrageous.
If you plan to use them as a venue be prepared for them to not call you back and to have to constantly call to be able to find the answers you are looking for. The person that was our event coordinator was fired. Ok she didn t do a good job. But there was no turn over to the person that was taking over. Do to that it left us not knowing how many people were staying at the hotel till we finally got a hold of someone that talked to a manger about getting a list. I do not recommend this place.

A perfect mini staycation. Being covid aware because of my job I was super impressed and felt extremely comfortable with their precautions, especially when dining at Goosefeather (which is a must, even among locals). The room was comfortable and clean, and with the recent renovation, the bed, pillows, bathroom, and towels allowed for a great night's rest - the G.H. Christ & Soames toiletries were a nice touch as well. Being a fan of architecture, especially of the Gilded Age, the grounds were a delight to walk and relax. Prior to this, the last time I stayed here was in the mid 90s for a friend's wedding and it will not be another 25 years until I come back. Well done!

For the past three years my team has had our staff retreat at Tarrytown House. However, our goal is not to return for a fourth year. This hotel has changed so much from 2018 until now. It's become more "corporate" and has lost its charm. The decor is tacky and doesn't match the aesthetic of the hotel. Furthermore, it's hard to tell which design era they're hoping to achieve.

The customer service was unforgivable. The staff is unorganized and lack concern or empathy for how their actions affect the hotel guests.

The only thing that remained unchanged was the breakfast, which doesn't merit booking another stay.

The hotel felt like a bit of a bait and switch given that one gets the impression one is getting a room in a charming old estate when one actually gets a room in a modern sprawling hotel complex and tedious parking, but that disappointment was overcome by nice, kid-friendly spacious rooms that were clean and comfortable.

This is hell. Pure hell. This place is evil and nothing else.
Desk man was extremely rude and unprofessional and wouldn t accept our reservation Via a 3rd party booking site.

Main lobby is flooded with drug addicts and alcoholics. This man fell on the floor and smashed his beer bottle as we were exiting the facility to leave for good.
The desk man attempted to check us in to a already booked room

We knew it was time. We got up and left at 3AM to look for another hotel 3 hours before our flight.

This building, is pure evil and a nightmare.
It will cause you agony and pain. This building will ruin relationships and break your spirits.

Avoid this place at all costs.
Good luck finding your hotel!

My fiance and I booked through their website. We paid the extra $10 for breakfast, and it was definitely worth it! The buffet was fantastic! The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. Everyone who worked here was very accomodating. We really enjoyed walking the grounds and having a drink in the restaurant. This place has an old-school estate feel to it (picture something from Clue). Much of the place was under renovations when we visited, but it didn't interfere with our stay at all. It will be stunning when it's complete!

The location is easy to find, just a 35 minute drive North of the City. The conference rooms were well equipped and there were plenty if available drinks and snacks as the conference day went on. The lunch, while crowded, was delicious with a good number of options. A nice place to go for a corporate getaway.

Excellent conferencing facility, top-notch rooms and staff, excellent food, meeting rooms were very good also. Grounds are beautifully landscaped. Highly recommended. Only minor thing is that the road down to the facility from the main road is a little twisty, but it's a very short stretch, and well worth the effort.

Beautiful place to stay to get away from everything. There's 26 acres of well maintained gorgeous land to explore with a sauna, pool, tennis court and more. Our room was super clean and the air conditioning was perfect. Would definitely love to stay again to enjoy the place more.

Do not stay at the King Mansion -- 50+ steps in hot hallway to a 3rd floor room, which reeks of paint and mold. One desk chair, so a 2nd person staying in the nearly vacant room would have no place to sit -- not at all worth the "luxury" price charged -- booked for 3 nights last week based on the website; fled after 1 night. Tarrytown grounds are beautiful, breakfast while overpriced was good, can't comment on the other accomodations. One final note: if you like truly bizarre, bug-like paintings on your entire ceiling, then the Mansion is for you.

The location was easily accessible. The staff was amazing. They were accommodating to my family. The rooms were spotless and nicely decorated. The grounds were lovely. The indoor family pool, racquetball court and jacuzzi were so much fun. My family had a great time. I highly recommend this hotel and because of the amazing service provided, we plan to return.

I was shocked at the condition of this hotel . Next to the kids pool there was a dirty paint chipping falling apart deck with exposed nails and dangerous steps . Our sink in our room had the water tuned off and drain disconnected. The pool chemicals or paint fumes in the pool area made my eye and my children s eyes burn without Even going in the water. The tennis court was basically unplayable and dangerous as well with a giant crack wider then a tennis ball down the center of the court . I do not normally review hotels but felt compelled to do so this time because our family trip was ruined and when I pointed out all the issues the staff said I should take my complaints to Expedia or whoever I booked with .

Very nice place, beautiful rooms, difficult to access because no elevator in
the old manor house, normal, but very few staff to help, and not even very welcoming at all on the whole it is a shame given the beauty of the site ...
Pleasant restaurant on site and there, good reception, good meal, rich enough !!
The swimming pool was never open even though it was hot, the inside one never accessed ... well I think it's a place where they receive a lot of working groups, the rest hardly interests them ...
Fairly honest hotel, justified for the rather exceptional location but not by the author to fully justify the price ...
I still recommend maybe it's a bad time ?!
