No one working there seems to know much about the school they work for. I've been transferred many times, hung-up on, and I still cannot get an answer to my question. No one has been rude thankfully, but maybe the employees should be better trained.

The executive human resources leadership for Texas...

The executive human resources leadership for Texas A&M Kingsville is awful! They are the worst I've ever encountered in my entire career! Henry Burgos in particular is very rude and has zero social skills. That man is so incredibly rude, pompous, and arrogant and honestly I have zero idea how this university made the terrible mistake of putting him in charge of their human resources department? Of all things, human resources???? That just doesn't make any sense!

Attended this University for 8 years while working on both my Bachelor's and Masters Degrees. There has been much improvement at this University, both in physical appearance and academically. I absolutely love my my alma mater and I highly recommend this university to any prospective college students. Regardless of the rural area, you receive a quality education, and meet some great people and lifelong friends.

Pros: The school is a nice place, for the most part. Most of the teachers are good, and the major oriented ones are good. Clubs and organizations are quality. Dorms are good, even the less quality ones.

Cons: internet is bad. Cafeteria food is nasty. Some cafeteria workers are rude every day. They offer playing pool or video games in the Student Union Building, but it costs money. We're broke as it is! And worst of all, the football games are underwhelming.

By far and away, the absolute WORST human resource...

By far and away, the absolute WORST human resources executive leadership probably on the entire planet as far as I am concerned. Nothing but typical standard issue HR scapegoating tactics if you do report anything to them. Human resources executive leadership at Texas A&M Kingsville is basically incompetent and spineless. There is no point in disclosing anything to them, nor do they protect your employee privacy and confidentiality. Instead what happens, literally not even a day after going to report something to human resources leadership here at Kingsville is a process of scapegoating and flipping everything back around in order to make it seem as though you are the problem employee for having reported anything to them in the first place. That was exactly what happened to me: I went to what I mistakenly thought was human resources leadership for assistance and guidance, only to be dismissed, brushed off altogether, and made to feel as though my concerns weren t valid. There were complaints of: sexual harassment, file tampering, malicious gossip, deliberate targeting .. a whole laundry list of documented, and evidence-supported unethical actions against certain managers which I had provided and proved beyond any reasonable doubt. Yet Henry, the guy in charge of human resources here, did absolutely NOTHING about any of it. I was basically made to feel as though I were a bad employee who shouldn t ever have been hired in the first place .. (direct quote by the way from this guy, Henry in human resources), and that if I didn t like it, well then I should just quit altogether. Those were my only 2 options. Literally, word for word, that's what was said to me. So I personally feel as though the top executive leadership in the human resources department of Texas A&M Kingsville, Henry Burgos, really does not belong in a position deserving such influence over people s careers. Quite honestly, it s actually rather sickening (to me, at least) to know that the president of Texas A&M chooses not to do anything about this, and to retain such unqualified and unethical human resources executive leadership at their university? Such a shame for such a well-known and widely respected university system.

This is a good University offering valuable course...

This is a good University offering valuable courses on engineering, agriculture and business at cheaper rates, even for internationals. But, if you are coming with an intention to pay tuition and fee with most of the amount through part-time and jobs it may not work well. The reason is of its location, in a small village and a little bit far from any town. The second reason is a lot of universities around Texas where students compete for a little fewer part-time jobs. But, if you want to get good grades and want to spend most of your time during college or at school on education and want to receive a degree from a good university like the one it works well. The campus map you can see is not so clear as the other universities and you can watch a clear view of campus in you-tube. There are many videos that have a clear picture of the campus. Also don't expect the university to be too beautiful. It is neither a beautiful university nor an opposite. It is not a university that focuses too much on campus architecture, but has a lot of scholarship opportunities if you are at a good standing.

Please don't post an improper review without a clear picture of what's happening around here which makes people think of what the University is, even though it's not of a kind you speak. Well, Thank you.

Around 20-30% of the students are decent. However, the mediocrity of the remaining 70% is celebrated by a tyrannical administration. The faculty live in constant terror of being reported to the Dean for hurting the feelings of the students. By "hurting the feelings" is meant any criticism at all. Of those 70%, many are virtually illiterate and innumerate. Imagine a student who needs a calculator to preform algebra. Now imagine a student who does so, but doesn't know how to use the calculator!
Look at the student reviews on this site which only critique the food and student dormitories. That is typical of the student niveau here.

We are paying a $2,400+ debt for an untrained staf...

We are paying a $2,400+ debt for an untrained staff member s mistake. My husband applied for this school, signed up for classes & a dorm. He decided to go somewhere cheaper & somewhere that actually had his major. He called to cancel everything & was falsely informed. He was told he would be dropped & that everything was finished & he was good to go. Of course when you tell someone they will be dropped , you obviously think you ll be taken out of the school & will be good to go . Soon after we find out he has a debt of about $2,000! We have tried to fight it & they were not having it. They sent our case to a collection agency & now there is a $400+ fee in addition to the $2000. This school is the worst & will do anything to get your money! I myself, was a student for only a semester & was miserable. The staff sucks, not helpful at all (obviously) & the school does not try to reach out to their students in activities, etc. I lived on campus & it was not worth the money so I transferred back home in Houston. The dorms.. every night there is yelling, the smell of weed, etc. The cops patrol the streets but not very well. I do not recommend this school at all. The city around is non-existent & all there is to do is clubbing & drugs. Once you attend this school, you ll know the regret & the waste of momey it is. Thanks for your time, I just don t like how the school is winning in our case. We still have to pay this debt due to a dumb staff member who told us we were good to go & is too coward to not deny it. Thanks for the debt! (Probably some stupid student helper because that s what this school runs on with no actual teacher to teach. Just student helpers with also no teacher supervision). This school also has very little majors & you will most likely need to transfer (like me) which means the basics you take here may not apply to your degree & is more expensive than a community college or a college that has the actual major you was. Anyone else notice the staff in the reviews just to gain some 5 stars? That s how helpless this school is.

A great place to learn! Beautiful Spanish style campus. Friendly people in a pretty small campus (about 8300 students). Very affordable cost with lots of help with financial aid office. Lets in students that may not have ace grades and test scores but gives university development courses to get them up to speed. High quality university-level classes taught by real professors (PhDs), but very few huge classes, mostly smaller classes where you get more individual attention and can ask questions and get to know the professor. Great programs in Engineering, Pharmacy, Wildlife Management, and Bilingual Education, but all areas are fairly strong. Low cost of living in Kingsville, dorms are affordable and lots of affordable apartments and houses within walking/biking distance of campus. Shuttle bus goes back and forth from campus to Walmart and HEB and back for just a few bucks. A different shuttle bus goes back and forth from Kingsville to Corpus Christi for just a few dollars. Way cheaper than driving, and no trouble finding parking.

This is the worst campus I've ever set foot on. No one should attend this university. No one in the administration knows anything about running a university. I've been here undergraduate and graduate school and the engineering school is a joke. Only a handful of professors know anything about engineering. None of the lab equipment works, not even the wifi. The engineering building doesn't have working wifi or computers and engineers make up a majority of the student body. Where is our money going? Certainly not being spent on things to improve the engineering school. There are many better schools to attend in the area. Don't go here.

To Jesie Aicrag, considering your other reviews are from Connecticut, I'm going to assume you're a friend or family member. The "top officials" of Human Resources are NOT very good and are NOT masters of anything. They do NOT know how to do their job. Since the top officials arrived in Kingsville, it seems like there are people leaving left and right and that the Human Resources department is falling apart because of the leadership on campus.

Cons: Cafeteria food is gross, campus needs work, most of the people working in offices are very rude.
But worst part is that the internet is horrible!

This school is a joke! If you have an option to go anywhere else please do. Get the smallest meal plan, because the food is gross. The classrooms are very small and the Professors are not as adequate as they should be. It's in a small town with nothing to really do. It is not that much cheaper than any other university in Texas, because you literally have to pay for everything including laundry on top of paying for an already expensive dorm. If you plan on living in lucio or mesquite the two bedroom dorm is much more expensive and you do not even get your own bathrooms! Football team sucks, and the library is very small and run down with not enough outlets and places to sit on a crowded day. Once again DO NOT COME HERE. I wasted two years there...

The top officials in human resources of this college are actually very good at what they do. They are masters of protecting their managers at all times and under all circumstances. Without the protection and shielding of the senior human resources officials of this college I definitely would have been in a pretty bad jam. There was a lot which executive human resources leaders here did to shield and protect me from so much from my past. So thanks a bunch from the bottom of my belly for shielding me in the way you did. It really meant a lot to me. Human resources leaders should be very proud in how they stick up for their own kind and culture.

I studied in this school my final years even though I was in better schools , It is very nice and unique school, of course the school is small in small town but very affordable it provides all necessary facilities for students, the most important thing is students will have better opportunity to contact their professors in person compared to large universities since it is small school if needed and professors are very friendly in helping students, the quality of education may be different from department to department but the school of engineering provides very good education with majority of the professors instructing in the school for more than decade and students graduated from the engineering department have good employment rate , but as student you should be willing to learn too, TAMUK is example of diversity not only in student but in the department professors too, you may see a professor from any corner of the world like the students, generally the school is good but I believe they need to expand the school and build better buildings in the future

The class sizes are small so it allows you to really get individual help with your professor throughout the semester compared to most of the bigger schools. Also, it is the most bang for your buck, especially for computer science majors or engineers. It is also the oldest college in South Texas, which gives it even more prestige over TAMUCC. Also, if parents don't want to put your kid in a bad situation, send them to Kingsville. The reason I say this is because there is literally nothing to do.
The college is literally the only thing there. It's a great school and they are also updating and remodeling the campus almost constantly now.

Standard-to-substandard university. Outdated technology, terrible WiFi, atrocious lab manuals, no investment in the students. Also, crime is rampant. Reported a couple cases to campus police with all the evidence needed to prosecute. No actions have been taken that I know of. I've tried to call numerous times to check on my cases with no luck. Still waiting for the callback. If you want to stay in the area then check out Texas A&M University Corpus Christi.
