Hyderabad is synonymous with the Falaknuma Palace,...

Hyderabad is synonymous with the Falaknuma Palace, so one does tend to have very high expectations of the palace.
As a first timer to the the city of Hyderabad, Falaknuma was on the top of the places to visit. We had booked the high tea and tour well in advance. It is priced at approx. Rs.3000/- + taxes pp.
The entrance to the place is grand. First impression was that the palace has seen better days. It is beautiful but not very well maintained.

The tour itself was a let down. There were too many people and only one guide so it was difficult to follow what he was saying. I wish they would limit the nr. of people per guide.

The high tea, included, sandwiches, scones, pizzas and some indian snacks. The food was basic. It was nice but nothing exceptional. The desserts were in a buffet style and were really not good.

The service was also slow. It took them forever to get the repeat order of sandwiches. I had to ask for tea, it was not offered to us.

Overall, it is one of those things which is you want to tick off when you are in Hyderabad, but the overall experience is average.

Falaknuma- reaching for the sky. Literally what it means.

This amazingly beautiful palace built atop the hill has some fascinating breathtaking views of the city.
It's been leased by the taj group of hotels and somewhat restored to its previous grandeur.

Heritage, historical, charming and perfectly maintained retro style charm, this is what I'd say about the Taj Falaknuma palace. Wonderful food and warm staff who treat you like a royalty makes stay here memorable. The palace is a veritable treasure trove. Not to be missed are the Nizam's library, the world's largest dinning table, silver smoking hookah, and some fabulous wall frescos and paintings.Luxuriously indulgent but a memorable experience worth every penny.

I wouldn t say its a must visit, but it s for sure a feather on ur checked list of places to visit in Hyderabad.
Unlike other historical places in Hyd, here its refreshing and tranquil. And Taj will ensure u r a star guest.

Among their(Taj Hotel)expensive day packages ranging up to 8k per head, Hi-Tea is the least expensive, INR 3540/- inclusive of taxes($ 55) per individual. Hi-Tea includes juices, mixture of Indian and English snacks, variety of tea coffees and desserts. Remember you are paying for the Taj service, not your snacks .

Ther will be a short palace tour, for about 30 minutes. The guide will keep you engaged through the tour explaining you the history, design and structure, prominent rulers from the State of Nizam and many firsts of their kinds. Also some Urdhu shayaris.

From the main entrance gate you may prefer to take Horse chariot, to get the feel of a Royal Guest, until the Palace Fortyard. Its jot crowded normally, you will find very few only to realise you are one among the elite visitors.

Its not so far from the city, visit and live a while the Nizami way.

It's a beautiful place to visit. But, trust me it's not cheap.

We went for lunch at Adaa restaurant and it was a royal experience. One need to make prior booking before visit the palace for lunch or dinner. You can't just walk in and have yet table booked.

Cost per head is about Rs 4500/- which includes 2 drinks and two starts ,1 main course meal and one dessert. You can figure it out with yr menu card and make min bill of 4500/-.

I will advise to visit in afternoon so that one can get good view and pics. After all now a days we visit only for pics ;)

The best and beautiful palace. I was with my husband and my child. From the time check in to check out, all the staff treated us like king, queen and prince. The arrival experience to departure experience was out of the world. Loved it
