This place is more than just food and drinks. The palace showcases the luxurious life which the Nizam lived. There was a palace tour for 30min and i have no words to describe the palace.
The Taj Group took this palace on lease in 1995 and they took 10 years to restore the lost glory. I will say it is beautifully maintained. Coming to the lunch/dinner part you are allowed inside the gate only if you have a reservation. Myself and my wifey were here to celebrate my birthday. Thanks to Aparazzi for following up with the Reservations Team from last 1 month to book the table. She had few hiccups booking the table but the experience at the palace was just WOW!
We had a reservation at the Gol Bungalow and we opted for Indian Food. In this place they have a 5 course set menu. You will have a superb view of the city while you enjoy your dinner with your loved one. You are treated like a king. The most lavish dinner i have ever had till date.
They served the Tomato Dhaniya shorba to start off the dinner. The quantity was less I thought but realised later that the size of the portion was just right. Followed by few starters -
1. They served us Zimikand shikampuri kabab which was just yum. Very unique. This is the first time i was tasting this and i was blown away by the taste.
2. Bharwan Paneer Tikka - The softest paneer i have ever had. It was cooked to perfection.
3. Aloo kairi ki tikki - After having the other 2 starters i felt this was a let down. It lacked flavour. It was bland i felt.
4. Malai Phool - The brocolli was marinated with cheese and cooked to perfection. It was cheeselicious.
This was followed by wild berry sorbet. The texture of the sorbet was smooth and the sweetness was just perfect.
For the main course we were served Assorted breads accompanied with 3 gravies and Dal Makhani.
The gravies served were -
1. Nizami Handi, a creamy gravy made of some seasonal veggies and yoghurt. Personally Liked the taste and flavour.
2. Paneer and spring onion gravy was tangy and very tasty and paneer was so soft that it just melted in the mouth.
3. Dakhni saag was very very creamy and tasty.
4. The dal makhani was very rich and creamy and delicious. The best Dal makhani i have ever had till date. This is their USP dish and a must have.

We were served Veg Biryani with mirch ka salan and raita. Biryani was overloaded with elaichi and all that we could taste was elaichi. This was a let down dish.

For the desserts we had requested for Italian desserts as we don't like much of Indian sweets and they obliged for the same.
We were served chocolate parfait which was rich and delicious. The sweetness, bitterness of the chocolate was just perfect.
The home made rose petal icecream was served which was good. The texture of the Icecream was smooth and shiny.
They also served Opera which was very very delicious.

They give us cold napkins instead of finger bowl.

Overall a very royal experience. Heavy on pocket but an experience not to be missed.

Happens to be very close to Charminar but the vibe is strange. It's kind of deserted and dark. You would reconsider your options if you don't have a cab while traveling by yourself. Also, the palace requires prebooking without which you won't be allowed to enter. All in all, one needs proper planning to be able to go and enjoy there. Mainly suitable for dinner.

Set in a restored 19th-century palace overlooking the city, this luxe hotel is 2 km from Falaknuma train station and 4 km from the landmark 16th-century Charminar mosque. The elegant rooms feature Colonial-style furniture and marble floors, plus flat-screens, DVD players and limited free Wi-Fi. Upgraded rooms have canopied beds; stately suites add separate seating and/or dining areas. Room service is offered 24/7.

Such a luxurious and aesthetically beautiful place. The music when we were there (Sufi singers) were also really good. The food was good and the horse carriage that takes you to the place makes you feel like a king.

It is a beautifully restored property by Taj. Do not miss the palace tour. We had lunch, high tea and dinner there. The pan sandwich, gulkand jamun, gulab ice cream, paan ice cream were pretty unique. It is expensive but worth it for special occasions.
