Tabu Lounge Review

Cool place...very dark and usually some kind of chill out music is playing. Hookah is not that good though.

This place doesn t look pretty from outside, they don t even have a sign.

First thing you see when you get inside is interior design. It is dark, there are candles on each table and at the bar. I like their Indian/Buddha style. They have a fireplace and you can seat near it!

Second, as a hookah lover, I can say that the hookah I tried there is probably the best hookah in downtown Brooklyn.
Diverse menu, sushi Thursday to Sunday. Full bar with almost any drinks you can imagine + signature martinis. Friendly waitress.
Private rooms for big companies 5+ people.
Good prices. I paid only about 40$ for hookah, sushi plate and tea. Awesome playlist!

I will give 5 start for the lady who took my order at the very beginning, a very educated woman that I believe was the manager she is very sweet and polite, then another for the guy who prepare hookas (Norlan) his service is outstanding and the way he described the flavors are undoubtedly the perfect hook to compliment the night.
Unfortunately the waitress who serve the drinks wasn't friendly at all-actually was rude and fried calamaris were served on my table with no clutery , her mate support her right on the spot, however is a nice place, the manager and of course Norlan.

Over-priced and the service of the snooty servers suck! Do not recommend it.

Despite that I was here just once, I should say it s an incredible spot with outstanding service. The vibe is really chilled. They have beautiful interior design, the bathroom is clean and scented candles are a sweet touch.

Food: I ordered green dragon roll, but was informed that they couldn t make it, they didn t have a good avocado at 11 pm. The waiter considered my spicy tuna request, and came up with a special roll. It was so fresh and yummy! Given summer time...

Drinks: nice variety of specials. You ll definitely find something to your taste.

Hookah: I d say it s relatively small and not so great for the price. I would suggest lowering the price or upgrading to a larger size. Grape tobacco and milk is a nice combo though.

Also we were seated outside, on poufs (no dine-in, remember?) If you plan on spending quality time and not thinking about your back hurting afterwards... keep in mind, there are poufs.

They have great music, delicious food and excellent waiters. You ll be taken care of, no doubt.

I d love to come back when there are no more restrictions! It s a wonderful spot!

Dark overpriced and staff is very stuck up. It's almost as if your not a regular then you will be waiting awhile and made to feel as if your not welcome our your a burden on them. They rather talk with regulars than serve new customers. Once you are served you feel like they went out of their way to serve you. Very poor service and staff is very rude. I wouldn't recommend going for any reason unless your friends with the small group of regulars otherwise prepare for a horrible experience that you will regret and over pay for.

Cozy, still liked the pillows with which it is convenient to sit.

Loved the place since fist visit back in 2001 and through the years my opinion has not changed - still loving it !!
Dark environment and price level are matter of opinion and personal choice - looking for more light and cheap drinks? There are plenty of local diners around.

I was in the mood for a drink and a snack so I decided to go to this bar/ lounge. I had a drink $13 and an order of food $10. I go to pay with my card he says it's a $25 minimum for cards! My bill was $23...2 dollars short. I'm like fine how much is a bottle of water? $6 dollars he tells me! So I ordered the cheapest thing on the menu for $3.50 and left it at the bar. Ridiculous. What a novel and charismatic way to make new and keep regular customers.

Best sushi & all above & beyond gourmet dishes ..., this beautiful romanic spot OVER DELIVERS without the expensiveness of going to a very HIGH END Manhattan spot !!!

A nice place for a date. Romantic and not very expressive.

It's cash only, the hookha is just OK, but.... This is an amazing place for a nice quiet romantic date. It's quite, dark and the atmosphere is perfect.

Very good service, unusual delicious salads and rolls. A combination of hot and sweet, soft and crispy, spicy and sour! And it's beautiful too! I would like to visit this cafe again))) By the way, the desserts are awesome!

This is the most Un pleasant place. The Russian staff girl was so rude and just unpleasant. On top of that she was rude. The pricing is horrible way to expensive for a crappy place. I got 1 hookah and 2 drinks got charged 80. The water is $6...they are basically rapists

Very relaxing atmosphere with awesome drinks and sushi

I have been there 3 times. I like it and I plan to return. Yes, the waitresses have an attitude and a pissed off look on their face. Yes, the place is not cheap. But, be an educated consumer. Ask for new coals for your hookah when you stop getting smoke. Stick to wine to escape the $14 dollar martini's. Enjoy the dark seductive atmosphere with your man or your lady. Focus on the beautiful experience. Tip on top of their added tip, it is only 15%. Go a few times and you get treated better as you go there. Don't, "go with a regular", become a regular. It's worth the effort. Try finding a place this nice someplace else cheaper, good luck. You won't.

Comfy and cozy place to enjoy the evening. Most of the products are overpriced compared to neighboring places. Overall improvement is a must.

Staff is ok, but I would say too expensive. We had 16 different rolls, 2 glasses of wine, vodka and one ice cream, we paid $300 without tips!!!

Very ni place. Was there number of times. Perfect date spot due to very dark interior with real fire place. They are well known for their hookah and sushi. Well all of that except sushi and hookah is not available right now due to outside service only. Hopefully things will go back to normal soon.

The food here is on another Level ! I don t think you can find any better in Brooklyn so definitely highly recommend!!

Use to be good. Now its too isolated from other people. Bar is on the other end of the place.
