Really classy ambiance indoor and outdoor seating. Wonderful selection of authentic Spanish wines, beverages and food. Their staff is also very tentative and hospital. I will definitely return here another time.

Had early dinner with my wife, the restaurant was not busy at all. We ordered two tapas and a Paella de
Mariscos. The tapas were good but the paella was a sad pile of rice with not much substance in it, I had big expectations for this restaurant but it was such a dissapointing experience.
A $72 Paella de Mariscos with 4 steamed langostinos, a few mussels and clams on a bed of salty arborio rice it is not worth the money. My take is that this restaurant had much better Paella days

I have had wonderful meals here in the past, my recent lunch was lackluster. Octopus which was supposed to be grilled tasted boiled and was smothered with paprika. It was tasteless. The service was excellent.

I love spanish food especially on the elegant side. This restaurant though it was lunch time and during the pandemic when all restaurants are hurting, they really delivered on the quality of the dishes and the service.

spectacular!!!! Alejandro attended us, the service was great. If you accompany the dinner with the flamenco show they give, it's perfect. the taste of Spain, it feels close! but if you only go for the food ... it's a bit expensive. (that's why I do not put 5 stars) thanks

Had a great time at the Google Places event here! The sangria is awesome and the tapas have convinced me to return soon! Delectable bites, from crostini to pint-sized desserts, they put their best on display!

Fancy and pricey place for fine food, and special occasions. Dishes are done well. Sommelier is on hand. Very nice presentations. I had the boneless short rib in a wonderful sauce. My wife had the whole branzino baked in salt, and deboned by the server. My son and daughter-in-law had the seafood paella. Everything was very good. Service is very good.

A guarantee. A place immune to fashion. A place where you know you are going and they will treat you very well and eat very well. A unique place in all of Washington. A piece of authentic Spain with style, habits and know-how. Chapeau.

Taberna continues to be a treat, and one of the best Spanish restaurants in the area. At a private dinner Tuesday night in one of the best private rooms in the city the service was attentive and sensitive to our need to do some business. The cerdo dish was beautiful to behold and it was a treat to have such high quality ham. The bronzino and paella dishes looked inviting and those who had them were pleased. The decor could use some freshening, though I took this as a reminder of how long this place has been in operation and successful. Recommended.

I would give zero stars to this place if I could. The last time I took my friends there to watch the flamenco show with some friends they treated us extremely bad. They made us change tables in an extremely rude and condescending manner just because we were not planning to order as much food as wanted us to order. THIS HAD NEVER HAPPENED TO ME AT ANY RESTAURANT I HAD EVER VISITED!!!! It completely ruined the positive perception that I previously had for the restaurant and it certainly made me and all of my friends never want to come back. The high prices they have for the terrible costumer service they offer doesn t make it worth it for me. There are many other Spanish restaurants in the DC area that are better than this one! Bodega in Georgetown or Jaleo in downtown DC are way better options (they also offer flamenco shows).

Really liked the paella and all apetizers. The quality of food is superb. The price is reasonable if you skip the wine! The atmosphere is old fashioned, but the experience is very good in general.

Dropped into Alabardero last November, straight off a plane with my family and ready for some classy tapas. I never got as far as tasting the food though, as we left after having been met by the most snooty and rude waiter I have seen employed in an establishment like this.

Any resemblance to "elegant" Madrid restaurants is insulting. I would not feed a stray dog in there.

Great Spanish food! Excellent service. I went to celebrate my birthday and they made it very special! They gave us a good window table, a nice birthday card and a toast of champagne! Felt really special.

When you step into the sumptuous surroundings of Alabardero, you feel like you are stepping backwards in time. DC falls far behind you as old world Spain welcomes you with warm, open arms. The restaurant feels like a home with different sized rooms offering diners and groups privacy for their tasty tapas experience.

Their wine cellar boasts over 300 Spanish wines, best tasted at special dinners where the winemakers come in from Spain to pour you a glass. For lunchtime fun or happy hour, sangria on the patio is a must in the summer.

Horrible.

Horrible.

I got free pass for Tapas and sangria on one event and decide to see place. I made mistake by showing them pass at the front. My ham tappas was obviously smaller than on the table next to mine. They charged me $11 for difference in price between sangria and red house wine even though price in menu was 50 cents difference. I told them that i am first time there and that bill is not correct and manager of the restaurant with tick Spanish accent came to me and had nerve to say that, everything is fine with bill and i probably made mistake by coming to this restaurant. I can not believe how he still has his job there.
