What an absolute masterpiece and the monument is a true testimony. A small cafe is located here for a quick break.

There is no option not to stand there despite the lack of time.
Inspires respect for the Sea
But a great place! Only the road and the sea. Symbol of the Dutch struggle with the sea for land.
Class. Should you look at yourself while you're there
Nice. If you pass by, stop by. Driving is not worth the effort
The Great Dutch Dam. A work that testifies to the will 'of man to win the fate. The dam has held back the North Atlantic, while the south has turned the sea into a freshwater lake. Interesting.
Plunging view of the motorway located on the dike that separates the sea from the Netherlands less than 4 meters below sea level ...
Interesting
Drinking a cup of coffee after a breath of fresh air at the monument.
Worth a visit to see this amazing feat of engineering. No more then 30 minutes required though. The cafe is not great!
The Vlietermonument is located in the middle of the Afsluitdijk, is on the side of the route from North Holland to Friesland and can be approached from both sides of the highway. The monument contains some historical photos and descriptions of the construction of the Afsluitdijk, as well as a watchtower. A nice stop to do, also with children.
Impressive monument. Worth visiting. Especially if you have foreign guests.
Amazing impression, going ahead you can not see where it is going. On the left only water on the right also, wonderful view, jagby endless bridge. Viewpoint. It is mandatory to stop and see from a different perspective, especially speeding cars in both directions, a point available free of charge and a souvenir shop I recommend it is worth stopping.
If you want to see this epic piece of engineering you definitely will be blown away by the size of it,you can stop off and get some good pictures.A bridge links both sides and there is a gift shop and above it a tower which is accessed via the shop.Don't know if you have to pay I just had a quick peek on how to get up to the top of the tower. You can buy ice creams and lolly from a shop below the gift shop via another set of steps, easy to find no wheel chair access as I can see.
Mandatory break when driving through this place. Enormous human effort to complete this highway. From this point, you can see the endless sea on both sides of the road. You can't see the end of the road on land either. I wish good weather to everyone willing to see it - necessary to admire and please the eyes.
Very nice and nice place to stop. Can you also have a nice drink?
Definitely worth a stop!
Great view, interesting architecture of observatory tower. Nice place for birdwatching.
fantastic place and beautiful views of the lake and the sea.
If you're crossing the causeway it's worthwhile stopping for a few minutes, but don't cross the causeway especially to go there. Review of the causeway is quite impressive from the tower, as you can see from the photos. I was cycling across and the stopped at this point and told that the cycle path was closed for next year or so. A bus came and collected me and took me the final 10 km to the Southern end of the causeway. This was disappointing as I wanted to ride right the way across but the staff were very accommodating and helpful.
Great view, great story, unfortunately not always everything in English described, but Dutch is also ... Somehow
For a good, short overview of the history of the Afsluitdijk. A bit windy though if the weather is poor!
Unbelievable effort by the Dutch people to build this barrage and then link the road between Noord-Holland and Friesland. Something unique, grandiose, beautiful and very useful ...
Dam that allows the low countries not to be dominated by the North Sea.
A breathtaking view.
Nice place to see what the Afsluitdijk is like for a gigantic piece of work.
Very beautiful this point to admire on the dike the north sea divided by the inner lake. The engineer statue stands above the dam which is spectacular. Stopping is a must to watch the view.
Part of our workplace. Fuiken from us on the Wadden side
It's on a high way,so it's a little difficult to get here until u have a car and need to park n cross the high way using the bridge.
Very impressive, seeing the ocean on one side much higher than the portion protected by the dam makes an impression. Definitely worth a visit!
Beautiful location with a beautiful view, just some maintenance.
After traveling many kilometers, most impressive, there has been expansion in the dam and feel that something is happening.
This is a vantage point where a book of languages (including English) is included in the history of the dam.
There is also a tower that allows observation and a small restaurant.
This is a nice place for a small little parlor with comfortable parking (maybe toilets) if you need a drop to extract bones but the museum is much more suitable for activities, learning and eating
A monument to an engineering feat and a huge material battle against the water - 5 stars for it. However, the monument itself has come down quite a bit with the Dutch pride in this building. Too bad. For this, deduct at least one point.
Nice to watch ff don't expect too much but it is a nice point if you pass by to stretch your legs with #northernalliancepb #northernalliance #paintballfamily
Good parking and a nice view. There is also a restaurant.
Unfortunately it was closed due to corona (?) And the weather was bad so less view than normal. We did spot a seal and it is nice to stretch your legs on the Afsluitdijk.
We used this road during our journey between ALKMAAR and GRONINGEN. It is an incredibly beautiful feeling to go down a road in the middle of the sea.
Beautiful monument to commemorate the closure of the Zuiderzee and the transition to the IJsselmeer.
Needs some renovation... But a nice view from the top
Nice monument to stop for a photo and a cup of coffee. If it is busy, the waiting time is very long.
Very impressive what was created here. You should not just drive over this dam, but actually stop at this monument and learn about its history.
One of the Netherlands' most unique highway rest / parking spaces.
Interesting history of the fight with the sea and big respect to all people who have made this idea happen
An imposing structure! Currently closed at the Monument Museum and the observation tower.
Wonderful view of the sea, the exhibition on the history of the dam could be renewed.
Beautiful view of the difference in water height between the sea and the lake.
