A place to stop by because there are a lot of things to see while having coffee and a good piece of cake

Great place to take a break. Belongs to almost every return trip from vacation. On one side the North Sea and on the other side the IJsselmeer. In good weather you have a great view from the tower (free). Currently, the motorway construction is partially partially lane, which can lead to traffic problems.

34 km of beautiful. Here you can find an incredible view from the middle of the dijk, as well as see the monument to the builders. The view is amazing from the tower.

Me and my colleague were working on the new data centre a few miles down the road. I was intrigued by this piece of engineering. We had stopped and had a coffee then went up the viewing tower. Brilliant view. My colleague found a way to brighten his day up. Great time working in Netherlands, total respect to the Dutch.

Nice point. If it is not too foggy you can see Texel.

If you are in Holland, you should take a look at the Ijsselmeer dam.

Just a stop on the Afsluitdijk. Today it was very windy. We always stop here to take a look at the sea. And hot drinks and some food inside. (What we normally do out of season.) A beautiful lookout tower over the Wadden Sea and IJsselmeer.

The great dam of Zuidersee completed in 1932, regulates the status of the waters between the sea and the stretch of water inside. Incredible professionalism of the Dutch hydraulic engineers in the control of water.

Already visited several times. Always nice to drive over the final dike with a stop at the monument.

Highway in the middle of the water ... it can't be described, it has to be seen. There is also the possibility of refreshment and sitting inside and outside with a view.

Small cafe here that is great to stop off and have a quick bite to eat and a refreshing drink. The view from the bridge gives you a better idea how long this dyke actually is.

Interesting place I was in nice weather I think the wind is constantly blowing a perfect place for a break of the bar is about 30 km long there is a lesto Cafe bar and souvenir shop

The only space in the middle of the highway, where you can have a snack or drink.
Unfortunately they only had a toilet that served men and women and as it was very busy, it was dirty and in this time of covid-19 it was not at all hygienic

The dam is exceptional. The monument, the bar and the tower are overlooked

Beautiful place to enjoy the spectacular view halfway, ideal for taking photos, you just have to be especially careful with children, any time of year is good to visit the place but sunny days have their special charm.

Monument like a monument. The observation tower was closed at the time, and the northern sea was covered by an earth embankment (along the entire length of the highway).

A dam that made the history of the Netherlands. Connects two strips of land in North Holland. By then considered a grandiose work. In the middle of the path there is a monument that recalls the construction with panels that explain the story. Under the tower that rises there is a picturesque bar / restaurant with vintage photos on the walls.
It is one of the largest dams in the Netherlands that has been defending it from the storm surges of the North Sea for some time.

Nice sized sandwich ball. Have you ever ordered a ball of bread and you get such a ball that is much too small for the roll. Then it can still be so good, but then it is already over. The ball must be proportionately the correct size. Perfect.

Beautiful and unique place for coffee and cake, also sandwiches and snacks available. The lookout tower to view both sides. (Waddenzee and IJsselmeer) Texel and Vlieland are clearly visible in clear weather. Unbelievable than they saw the 32 kilometers of dam, the other side was / cannot be seen, deep bend, especially for the workers.

We wanted to stop at the monument to understand this huge project initiated by the engineer Cornelius Lely in the 1930s.
This huge dike-dam closed this golf course in the North Sea and drained it which allowed the rivers to fill the new basin.
Thus, on the north side of the dam-dam, it is sea water and on the other side, a large freshwater lake.
Huge, powerful pumps at each end of the dyke make it possible to regulate the height of this large lake in case of excessive rain and rising water.

This place is interesting when the weather is good. If it is hazy, visibility is limited. Otherwise interesting pictures for the construction of the dam in the small existing restaurant.

Nostalgia really hope that it will remain as it is now with regard to the changes on the Afsluitdijk ..

A symbol and a memorablia of the hard work needed to build this wonder. A nice place to relax, though obviously it can get windy.

Loved the little stop over to check the monument, though it had millions of flies, luckily they were not biting. Windy as usual on spots like that, but fun to explore.

From here, one can reasonably overlook the marvel.

I have not been able to judge the food and drinks. The staff was very strict and strict when our 5 year old son had to pee on the way. I had 50 cents with me, but the young man was inexorable.
