We ordered the calamari appetizer and it did not disappoint. To our surprise, it was spicy; but the heat was just right. What we like was that we could tell it was fresh and it wasn't so heavily breaded. In a lot of restaurants, often their calamari is breaded, greasy and you can tell it's frozen. The pork chop was just pure perfection! The chop was cooked so well - tender and juicy; and I was so in love with the Marsala sauce.

We had a party of 7 when dinning at SWeL. Our server was kind and friendly and knew the menu well. All of the food came out in reasonable time and was overall well made.
The reason for 4 stars is because food just wasn't worth the price, nothing was out of this world, pasta dish ($24) was under-seasoned and overall lacked flavours, not worth $24. Burgers and pizza we're good but again nothing to make them stand out so much to justify the cost in my opinion.

I really enjoyed my experience here. I ordered the scallops and calamari (who says 2 appetizers can't be a meal) and was pleasantly surprised, because I don't even like scallops! They were SO good. It was cheesy, a little spicy, and had a good bit of lime. The bread was nice, too. I think their calamari isn't fried, it definitely has a different and very nice flavor. I like the decor and the service was really good too. My only recommendation is to serve more than a tiny slice of lime with the calamari

The food here is so tasty. The cocktails are good, too. They even made me a special pizza with aged cheese because I'm lactose intolerant. The happy hour deals on food are good. I like the outdoor seating in the back on a nice day.

The menu is a bit hit or miss. The pizza is great and there are some really tasty entrees (the pork chop was fantastic)! However, the last few times I've been the entrees I've ordered haven't been quite as tasty. I'll probably stick to the pricey pork chop or the pizza going forward.

SWeL is always nominal: swell. Their pizzas are outstanding, and would stand on their own, but they serve them with this unusually savory and excellent chili infused olive oil that has all the flavor of spicy chilis without much of the burn. It's pure alchemy, and an experience to repeat. Highly recommend, their appetizers and drinks are excellent a SWeL.

We were strolling around looking to grab a bite and saw this place on the map. Walked in and was pleasantly surprised at the ambiance and feel. Great music playing and very friendly staff. Food was outstanding, especially the flat bread. Have recommended to friends and will definitely be back soon to try more of the menu and drinks. Outdoor seating looked nice too, believe there were blankets provided as well.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and great food! The bruschetta had a nice garlic spice to it, but then the Cesar salad did as well so that was a little overwhelming together but my mushroom dish and pepperoni pizza were fantastic!

Had the calamari and the steak. Both fantastic. The preparation meticulous, the flavor combination on both dishes inspired. Coupled with great drinks and a supremely pleasant staff and you have a winning combo.

We were walking around Fremont looking for a dinner place and were lucky to find this spot. It's a bit off the main drag but it's well worth a try. We really enjoyed the decor, lighting, and cozy romantic two person booth we were seated in. The food was also very tasty, loved the salmon with the black bean puree. Very friendly and helpful service, looking forward to returning.

Love this place! GF pizza and reg reg Pizza is great. I love the service and the owners are so nice. I come here by myself or with my wife. Place is a little small so I would not recommend for groups over 4.

My girlfriend, her two girl friends, and I went to SWeL last weekend and had a great dinner. Drink selection was good. For apps, we had the calamari and bruschetta. Both were very good. Bruschetta had goat cheese which was a nice addition. Calamari wasn't breaded, which was different but good. It was a little spicy too. For entree, we shared two large pizzas. This was a good amount for the 4 of us (3 gals and 1 guy). I have to admit I am in LOVE with the crust! Definitely the best I've had in
awhile. It had a great salty/sweet ratio and the right amount of chew. I'll be coming back and bringing newbies.

Why they don't advertise that they have a *ton* of gluten-free options is a mystery to me. I was floored when our waitress confirmed that the majority of their menu can actually be made gluten-free, including their pizzas! Which were delicious, by the way. Thin crust, wood-fired, with excellent cheese and toppings. I've only been here once so far, but living in the area, and with so many options for us gluten-free folks, I'll likely be back. The food at the other tables looked absolutely amazing, not to mention a really nice atmosphere. Lastly, here's a screenshot of where this restaurant is *actually* located. I literally walked around the block 4 times before I found it. Seriously, it's *across the street* from where Google says it is. Hopefully that gets fixed soon, but until then, you're welcome.

Update: Been here a handful of times now, with various people who ordered their non-gluten-free things (I just can't report on those otherwise), and absolutely everything has been delicious. Salads, sandwiches, pizza, pasta, margs--all have been simply fantastic. Service is always super friendly, and I love that they are just really good, down-to-earth people. This is quickly becoming our neighborhood staple both when we're feeling "fancy" and want to kind of impress out of towners but in a chill atmosphere, and also when we're sitting at home wondering what to order for pick-up. So so so happy Swel exists!!

We brought our out of town friends for happy hour. Everything was amazing! Hummus, oysters, carne asada flatbread, guacamole- everything was so delicious. AND everyone is so nice. Ian was our server and is just a delight. He was helpful and fun! We all have nothing but great things to say about Ian, the manager (owner?), ambiance & food.

We went there for a dinner a few times. Its a fantastic place. Its kind of new modern vibe and the staff is super friendly. Also, there is parking for customers in the back so you can park for free! It is slightly on the expensive side with mains being over 20-28 dollars.

The service at SWeL was fantastic, we felt welcome the moment we stepped into the restaurant. The food was delicious and the drink selection was great. The menu had a good variety of options for different price points which we appreciated. I will definitely be coming back!

Fun atmosphere in a casual Fremont setting. The weather was nice so we were able to sit outside. Featuring a nice selection of local brews and even kombucha on tap! We tried some of the oysters, bruschetta, and the hummus appetizer, which were great. Our group decided to share several pizzas and salads for our entrees. The pepperoni was delicious and our favorite. Will definitely be back.

Mixed feelings about this restaurant. Food is good, staff recommendations are ok. We sent some salmon back for being overcooked and got the same back. Still, not bad food. Just communication lacked a little. I would still consider coming back!

Where warm ambiance meets around-the-corner comfort, look no further than SWeL. I love any of the pizzas and 'Carly's crappy 'Manhattan. Their seasonal menus are locally sourced, organic (duh) and you'll even have enough money left to come back again.

Good service, but disappointed in the two starters I ordered. Both seafood dishes (bay scallops and clams with mussels) were spicy to the point that it wiped out the delicate flavors of the seafood.

Great ambiance for a romantic date or a quiet bar session. The food is well portioned, presentable, and delicious. What made this place shine for us though was the great customer service.

The Caesar salad with salmon was very good, and the drinks were well served. The bread pudding was the best part of the dinner!
Strongly recommend

Came in from the Fremont Solstice Fair for a relaxing quiet break. It was happy hour all day for the Solstice and the food and beverages were excellent! Great prices, selections, and portions. Will definitely return for more!! Mac and cheese, pizza, and Caesar salad was perfect! Very shareable portions.

i love it here, its simple but elegant. like walking into your friends house for an evening of drinks and good food.

They have a nice beer selection, I enjoyed the field 41, and the girl I was sitting with said her gin and tonic was fantastic too!

The group shared a couple appetizers and my carne asada with chimi churi was perfect! Looking forward to trying the patio on our next trip! (i just overheard the owners mention the patio is dog friendly!)

SWeL has a lot of good options within their smaller menu.
During happy hour, they serve most of their pizzas (like margerita, pepperoni, pear gorgonzola, prosciutto) for a small discount, typically $2-3 less than normal. However, I would say the pizza tries to emulate the style of Serious Pie, and Serious Pie does it a little bit better, with more topping options.
They are proud of their Caesar salad, which was pretty good! It had quite a bit of garlic, and the lettuce had the perfect texture, the right amount of crunch.
I also had their mushroom tagliatelle, with added sausage. Most places can go overboard with mushrooms, but they were evenly spread and had a variety of 3 kinds. The sausage was also delicious, but there should have been more! I only got 5 pieces.
For the salad, a personal pizza, and the pasta I paid around $40 after tax and tip.

I stayed at the bar there on a Sunday evening. It wasn't very crowded. Last time I had tried to come in there, I had to wait 20 or 30 minutes.

Their cocktail were good but not outstanding. I had the Camperol Spritz and the Basil Gimlet. The former is an interesting discovery although not far from the classic Aperol Spritz and the second one should have had more basil and less lemon juice in it, I think.

The food was pretty good, I had a Caesar salad and a pizza with pear. A bit too much garlic in the salad to my taste.

The service was pleasant and helpful. Ready to chat when I felt like to.

The food was spectacular, we had an arugula pizza that was to die for, only missing a star because dinner and dessert for 4 ran us close to $150. Not something we can do all the time but great for special nights out.

Food was great, got the pizza with the smoked mozz and sweet peppers, and a couple of the tap beers. All of it was damn tasty. Prices were fine for apps and good for local beers. Kailey was our server, she made the experience great. Carly the bartender made some amazing drinks and was quick with a joke that left us smiling. Would recommend.

A lot of care goes into the menu here. Ask for a recommendation and be willing to try a few things and you will not be disappointed.
The D'Anjou pear bread pudding was by far the highlight of the night.
