I was tasked with organizing a brewery tour crawl with 13 people for a company event, Swans was the first stop on our list. I was extremely pleased with the level of hospitality their brew master Chris provided us with. After the tour, they offered us a variety of beer flights accompanied by some delicious pizza.
Highly recommend visiting Swans for the great selection of craft beers, good eats, and unique patio seating. Very cool pub!

First time coming here and will be returning! Great selection of beer and the sandwhich was amazing. The waitress was great and gave me places to check out around the area since it s my first time here in BC
Enjoyed a wedding party in the penthouse of this hotel. Beautiful and unique architecture and furnishings. Cool rooftop views and near little bar downstairs.
As the city slowly opens and all the WFH-ers come out of the woodwork, this is an amazing place to grab for a safe, enjoyable drink or bite. I went here as one of the first places after being shuttered in for a while, and was really happy with the effort being put into social isolation. Not only did they have the basics (masks, cleaning surfaces, separation between groups), they also took phone numbers for contact tracing in case of an outbreak. On top of all the doomsday stuff....the drink and yam fries were AMAZING!! TL;DR mask up, go here, thank me later.
Food was ok, service was very poor unfortunately. Not sure who our server was, it felt like we spoke to all the staff and were half heartedly served by all of them. We felt like an after thought for a place that wasn t very busy. Drinks were ordered and delivery was fast which was great, however we had to get up and ask about a food order. The places menu looked great, it s unfortunate that the service let them down.
Great location, good in-house brews, loads of atmosphere but inexplicably they have a large portrait of Pierre Trudeau on the wall. I'd have given them 5 stars if it weren't for that.
Oh yeah, good deep fried pickles and the sampler of their own brews is an excellent introduction and can be customized, you don't need to order their suggestions.
The vegan burger was amazing.. best vegetarian option for a burger on the island and it was $9.00 on Thursday as a special !! Staff were a little inconsistent with service but otherwise it was a great pub
One of my favorite pubs in Victoria. I've always had good food, drink, and services at a fair price. Bonus, renovated not that long ago for even more room.
Classic place! Amazing $1m+ native art collection! Owned by UVic and has live music every night. Really diverse crowd - 19 year students to 75 year olds. Everybody mixes. Microbrewery with some interesting beers. Hand-pulled English style ales and stouts. Good IPA. Also some interesting drink choices such as craft beer shandys.
This pub has a great atmosphere, friendly staff, lots of drink options (including a great shaft), and even a separate section on the menu for vegan options! The manager, Scott, came over to our table and had a really nice chat with us. All in all a great experience!
Meh! Their beer is hit or miss and other mixed drinks are quite expensive for what they are. The food was typical pub food, nothing special. I only had 2 days in Victoria and I'm sad I wasted one of my meals here eating food that you could literally get anywhere else. Wish I tried somewhere more unique! Really not sure why there's such good reviews. Service was just okay and our server had her mask hanging below her nose the whole time :/
This was my sixth time here and always the best and friendliest service. Was there for St. Paddys day and was great service even with the social distancing. Will be back over and over
Food and brew five-star as always. I found the new decor hipsterish but tasteful. I miss the indigenous pre-reno art and decor and live music regrettably has been moved to a downstairs bar. The new chairs are uncomfortable. Instead we chose one of many big comfy booths, a little spacious for one couple. Happy hour menu is delish. Honestly, the uncomfortable chairs at tables streetside spoil that option for us. I miss the old Swans.
Great beer, loved the pizza, service was good, but they have the worst Old Fashioned I've ever had and should take it off their drink menu. Otherwise a very pleasant experience.
THE BREW PUB IS THE BEST There are a heap of brewpubs in victoria but this one has some of the best brews on tap that Canada has to offer. Also check out Canoe Club.
Im an old fashioned pub kind of guy (as seen in other reviews) and this place hits all the marks. -A bartender who knows the right amount of chit chat before getting to your drink order. - servers that are fast, curtious and quick to fix any food mistakes - the decor is a mix of old school pub with out being a dark, dingy drink hole in the wall
The drink options are very good, the food is very vast and very well served, but the attention of the Waitress, Regular, apathetic, and unwilling. Frankly, with that attitude, you don't feel like staying longer in the place.
Pleasantly surprised with how good the burgers were. The beer menu is well versed and you can even fill your growlers at the bar. Service was a bit off that day probably cause it was so busy, but the food and good drinks made up for it.
We had a small mishap with our order, which left us a little sad in the tummy - BUT NOT TO WORRY - Scott, praise his kindness reached out his hand to help us with a gift card. So, we came back! What an experience. Started with the nachos, smashed a few burgers, drank some home brew, poured some gravy, laughed a bunch, ended with a chocolate banger and had the best eat-in experience we've had so far in Victoria. Holly and Erica served our table with some exceptional service. Ask for them -they're great. Highly recommend, people, highly recommend.
There was a little mouse running the place and when I told, they were not surprised and looks like let them to live in this place. Very disgusting. I wouldn't come back here. Also, when I open up the laptop they start dimming the light very dark and I felt very disrespected.
Been here many a time. Our recent server Sarah was absolutely exceptional. Beers were great, service was on point. Recommending to anyone and everyone in my circle.
We love this place. Been here several times. They have delicious beer worth standard pub fare. I had a delicious fish sandwich and my husband has a duck burger. They had a great kids menu. The boys shared Mac and cheese which was delicious and then standard chicken strips. Food was reasonably priced and the service was excellent. Can't beat the location either.
This afternoon I had the pleasure of discovering Swans Pub Patio. This was my first time visiting this beautiful corner pub directly across from the Johnson Street Bridge. They have taken Covid protocols to an all new level that is exquisitely professional and efficient. Upon entering, the Hostess is there to greet, record information, and offer sanitizer in a spray mist format from a bottle that only the Hostess handles. Tables and seating has been clearly distanced from other guests, and all employees are wearing PPE properly and appropriately. Every employee was kind, courteous, vivacious with exceptional communication and customer service. Our server, Rachel, was incredibly friendly, very helpful, Diamond Quality customer service. 5 Stars all the way. I have exceptional dietary requirements, and this pub and staff went out of their way to accommodate my needs. Rachel listened very carefully, then made intelligent and caring suggestions that enhanced our experience. The quality of the ingredients used in their dishes is second to none. Real full Grilled Chicken Drumsticks, in a hemp chimichurri, and the Smoked West Coast Fish Dip with grilled sourdough was divine and completely safe for my unique lectin-free diet. I made a couple of suggestions which Rachel was willing to take to the Chef.
I told Rachel I was a local guide for Google and asked to take a few pictures for my review to my delight, she willingly agreed. Thank you, Swan Pub, for making protocols feel normal and comfortable. Thank you for being so considerate and accommodating.
We went here for lunch and it took forever to get our drinks, after waiting about twenty minutes the waitress then came back and took our food Order. The food took forever to arrive. We asked for the bill and and again waited over twenty minutes. We spent over two hours here, most of that time was spent waiting. When the waitress brought our bill, she put it all on one bill when we asked for separate bills.
I had a cider, which was great that they had some local options available. The rest of the group got the 4 beer sampler flight. It was nice that they were able to try a variety of different options. Our server was able to give some guidance. We enjoyed sitting in the glassed in outdoor area.
My family and I stayed for 15 minutes on a table waiting for a waiter, and we were totally ignored. So we left. It was a unique experience. Very weird.
Just ok food, you can find better food around. Huge place for 2 waiters. Terrible sound tracks, repeating the same song all the time. Service is super slow. My soup was not fresh. Beer is good and not expensive.
It's Swans, there is nothing to dislike about this place. You come here for the drinks, location, great nearby parking spots and sometimes even the food. If you are over 30 (mostly towards 40 and up) and would like to find where the other people over 30 are on a Friday or Saturday night, chances are most of them will be at Swans.
Enjoyed a lunch out with my son. Great fresh, tasty food at Swans downtown Victoria. They made us feel very welcome. Great attention to safe and healthy practises without losing a personal touch. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was great. Two thumbs up!
I always find myself eating at Swans whenever I'm staying in Victoria for one reason or another. Mostly for good beer, and a kitchen that is open past 8:00pm.
I usually get a burger, and they're always great, but outside of their happy hour periods they can be a bit pricey. All in all, not bad; just requires strategic timing.
I'm sure I'll be coming back whenever I'm in town next.
Excellent location, value and staff. We were originally booked into a BnB because we wanted a kitchen. The BnB cancelled us when we already driving to Victoria so we booked a 1 bedroom suite at Swans. It exceeded our expectations. We were able to host a Thanksgiving Turkey dinner for our 2 adult children, had better parking options than the BnB and a great choice of craft beer just downstairs.
One of the better places for a quick drink and a view of the harbour. Good music, clean place, awesome picture of Christopher Lee in a vampire cape hanging on the back wall.
Swans was definitely a great experience. The food was very well prepared and tasted awesome! The whole inside of this place is very well kept and entertaining with TVs and all the different beers on tap (big selection). The staff were super friendly and they were able to answer any questions I had. Will definitely be visiting here again.
Nice place, a little too close to Bridge construction for me. (Not their fault) Great on site brews, their Berry Ale, Oatmeal Stout and Scotch Ale are all great, in my opinion.
It seems like once a year we visit Victoria for a short break over the Christmas Time and it is a must to stop in for a special craft beer.. yes the beer and the environment were great once again
Erica...with a C...P. is an extremely awesome bartender! Funny, attentive, personable, informative and FABULOUS!! Swan's is a very clean, unique and uplifting atmosphere with great beers brewed on site! You will not be disappointed!
Great place, foods great, servers are friendly and attentive. Both received free drinks on the house due to a birthday, 10/10 would recommend, definitely will be back!
I visited this place 2days ago with my friends, My friends and I were really disappointed. Server didn't care of us. She was not polite even when we left. We couldn't see her while we were paying. So we just put the money on the table. Atmosphere was good. But I think she has to need to think about good service again.
I usually go here later in the evening and I like the fact its not overly busy. The tables that our "outside" (not not really outside - you know what i mean folks) are awesome. Love the lights, the new decor, really makes it feel like a special place. The service was great, but I really expected that since it wasn't a busy time that we went and the beer is always something that draws us back. Trying to think of a suggestion to give these folks but can't think of anything yet...
