I have been to this hospital group for many things in the past from mild stuff, to one of my children being born, and now to my found cancer, surgery, and treatment. I have had the best experiences among other hospitals that I have been to. I understand that experiences vary, but the multiple times throughout my life that I have been there for various issues from my wife, myself, and my children, it's always been pleasant. I have never felt the staff acted liked they cared, I've always felt that the staff has TRULY cared about me and my family and our health.

Procedure went well however they charged me $2,500 before hand, my portion after insurance was only 1,100 which they should have known. 6 weeks later they still haven't send me the extra $1,400 and I was just told it will be another 2 weeks.

If I could give this hospital zero star, I would. The waiting time is ridiculous. I took my baby to ER with hope she would be feeling better , but after 5 hour waiting, my baby was feeling worse. My baby was supposed to have UTI test and ultrasound but We decided to leave without the ultrasound because the staff couldn t tell us when they could help us. How frustrating when the staff didn t care how long the patient had wait. I never come to this hospital again

I'm currently a patient in the telemetry unit I came into the ER yesterday morning (Saturday July 13th) for chest pain and being from out of state visiting family made it a little more stressful. As soon as I walked in the ER there was no line to check but quite a few people waiting to be seen. I told the triage nurse what was wrong and she ordered an EKG right away I don't remember her name though but very nice and understanding. No sooner than she finished typing up the EKG order the ER tech Tony was there with a wheelchair and took me to do an EKG. After having that done, he took me to the triage room where I was met by Doctor Royer, a very nice man and didn't treat me like I didn't know what I was talking about and not condescending at all. He ordered meds and tests for me and was taken to a room right away. There I was met by the ER nurse David, who was super cool. He along with a paramedic intern started 2 IV's. Shortly after that I received nitroglycerin and other meds for chest pain. Dr. Gopez who admitted me was great too. Once I got to a room in telemetry the staff on all shifts have been above and beyond amazing including the nurses Jhermaine, Kathy, Lily and the nursing assistants Aubree, Beverly, Mary. They have all been amazing and seeing to my needs. The imaging and nuclear med techs have been just as amazing. Considering I was in the area from out of state to see family and had this come up was a great experience and having everything explained to me all the better and with my heart/health issues, this by far has been great. A thumbs up and five star rating to all involved in my care. Thank you!

I was very sick went to the (ER) I couldn't breathe and left in the same condition. I have COPD they said I had a upper respiratory infection but yet didn't give me a breathing treatment to help me (a urgent care doctor) does this but the hospital doctor didn't . To bad this hospital has gone downhill they really shouldn't even be considered a trauma center. I just signed up with Kaiser in hopes they will give better medical care at least there reviews were much better. Bye Bye Sutter

Both my husband and I have had two back surgeries ...

Both my husband and I have had two back surgeries with Dr. Elvert Nelson. All four experiences were superior to treatment in any other hospital either of us have encountered. Staff is courteous, friendly, highly skilled, and always on top of their game. We owe our good recoveries to these people!!!

On my last visit, April 14, 2017, my husband came in very late the next afternoon ( we live in Modesto so stay in one of the local hotels that offers a "hospital" rate). Long story short, he collapsed and was admitted through the ER. It was several days and a number of tests to determine he'd suffered a mild heart attack as a result of a myasthenia gravis crisis (eventually diagnosed by Sutter neurologist). He went back and forth between telemetry and ICU for a few days until he stabilized. It was superior nursing and several astute physicians with whom we credit the saving of his life over a 22 day stint. Does Sutter have flaws? Of course it does. It is frustrating to want answers immediately or to have a doctor with you when you want to talk. There is definitely waiting involved. Our biggest "complaint" would be about the hospitalists in general. There to provide medical care on a shift basis, they don't always or even often know the history of the patient assigned. Sutter needs to screen doctors and their experience more closely as well as provide time and insist they read the notes on each patient written by nursing and medical specialist staff. A serious flaw!! Yet when considering overall superior care by ALL of the other staff, I still need to give a FIVE STAR RATING!

If your need of emergency care, take caution.! In my recent experience I have seen a individual desperately in need of care and she was placed in wheelchair while she yelled in pain for over 2 and half hours. The small room was filled with individuals in need of care and Sutter Medical simply screened them based on the time that they came in. A greater need of licensed clinicians is desperately needed to ensure adequate mediical care is provided. This is what is needed in CA not just access to care.
