My son worked for this susnset pools and he hated it. The eastern European management team came off as disrespectful to my son and they seemed to be very disorganized. He will be looking for different employment next summer.
This is the most unprofessional company I have ever worked for. They exploit on immigrants and young students to work and don't pay overtime. Management is unprofessional, many of the lifeguards they hire can't actually swim and they fail the test however the company pushes them through because they need guards and there usually foreigners on workers visas so they're able to pay them substantially less. In short don't hire sunset and don't definitely go work for this dysfunctional company.
In response to the owner:Thank you for your response. Yes you are correct I have worked over 400 hours and not just one but two summers so I clearly can attest to the dysfunctional managing style of sunset pools. I stand by my comments, as of today sunset MGMT pools owes me thousands of dollars in overtime pay that has not been payed. Your company takes advantage of students and young adults, having them work 40+ plus hours week(in the sun) while not paying overtime is morally wrong. Management use to beg me to work these 60-50 hour work week. They will call you on your days off and beg you to work and still will not pay overtime. The company doesn't pay overtime to students but the owners can drive around in flashy sports cars. Sunset pool management does not care about there workers, I often found myself fighting for the basics of life guarding like equipment that worked, shade from the direct sunlight or a pool that was operational. Things seemed to always break at sunset pools management. I spent weeks sitting at pools that were closed or not operational because they needed some repair that was well overdue however management always took the band-aid like approach rather than spending the actual money needed and so things continued to break. This is NOT a GOOD company to work for.
Lastly I stand by my claim that not all your lifeguards could pass the red-cross life guarding swim test without accommodations. I've watched this happen on two different occasions, the summers of 2017 and 2019. I find this to be dangerous and irresponsible and is only a ticking disaster waiting to happen. Lastly I'll add that I never complained while working because I did not want to be negatively retaliated against and because it's not my job to tell you guys how bad you are. Just not a good company to work for they don't pay you on time they pay when they see fit.....But I would say go with a real company not someone private owned like sunset.....I'll let you be the judge DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!!!!!!!
Overall decent company to work for, especially for an entry level job. Friendly supervisor, decent pay considering I m lifeguarding. CPR instructors were super rude though. Place does not do direct deposit either.
Had a great time working at Sunset Pool Management the summer of 2019! The staff are very welcoming, friendly, and understanding. Sunset Pool Management will make sure you have the best work experience and allows you to have a flexible schedule. Being a lifeguard teaches you not only patience but communication skills and gets you closer with the community. Sunset Pool is definitely the best swimming pool contractor in the DMV area.
the only reason i am giving the company a rating of 2 stars is because my supervisor was really cool , professional and accommodating but other than that the customer service of the company is absolutely terrible in every way. When i call the customer service number its pretty much impossible to reach anybody without running into an voicemail. I have left a plethora of messages to call me back but i have received a follow up call. i would think twice before checking this pool company out for employment.
I have been working for Sunset pool and Managment for about two years and 7 months. I remember when I started this job I could rarely speak English. I was looking to find a job which, I can have a time to study. One of my friends introduce me to Bob (manager of a company). I started to work as a lifeguard for Sunset pool and Managment. I could not find any other job to give me flexible schedule, time for study, pay good, and improve experience talking to guests of hotels. This is really fun job. I could pass many english, computer classes and now I found a better job. If you are student, you should get this job. Do your study and get paid.

Omg people in here do not know how to run a business. I went there to spoke about a problem with a supervisor they told me we do not know what our supervisors do about their lifeguards it is funny, how come a boss and a HR manager do not know what their supervisor had done... They have also a lot of illegal Eastern European and Iranian. Terrible company to work with
Don't work for them they lie about everything pretty much have been used countless times for violating employee rights for break and not paying overtime. I worked 103 hour in on pay period they paid me 80 hr then laid me off for almost two weeks to offset the OT I made.

Supervisors are very helpful and I actually have friends who work for them and are extremely satisfied as well.

Sunset pool management is best pool service and management company in DMV area. Their stuff is highly trained to save people and management cares a lot and handles any issues in timely manner. We have been using their service for past 8years and will continue for many more years to come.

This "company" is a joke. If it could be rated in the negatives it definitely would. The said if I were to work memorial WEEK not just weekend I would get a 100 bonus. I received nothing except normal pay. They pay the poor foreigners 8 and would have paid me the same if I hadn't asked for higher. I was fine with it at first but then the pay was too low so I called the office to ask for a raise and they told me to talk to my supervisor and he told me to talk to them so basically payed it ask mommy and daddy type of deal. So I decided to email them. They never responded. Finally I asked to get shifts earlier because I couldn't stay until late because it's dangerous at night but my supervisor didn't listen and just cut off hours. I called off one day saying I couldn't go the next day because of family problems and received a warning. I assumed it was better to notify my supervisor the day before than the day of but clearly he didn't agree.
2 weeks later about my mom called saying I needed to pick up my sister because no one could from daycare and that she would pick her up. My mother is a single mother with two kids and this company does not know how to sympathize and doesn't know what family is. Lastly this morning I was at one of the hotels and it was so cold I decided to put on a towel since I had to be in uniform and not wear pants. The general manager of the hotel "claimed" I was sleeping. How in the world could I go to sleep if I felt like I was in a freezer. Anyways long story short don't work for this company they don't know what it's like to keep ones word
I loved working as a lifeguard this summer for Sunset Pools. The training and certification processes were accessible and quick even during the pandemic. The pay is great and the staff is very kind, I would definitely like to work here again next summer.

this is just a horrible company to work for, i started this job just to make some extra money as a second job but the supervisors are rude and ingorant the will place you at a pool thats too far away while having pool located near you house. they don't send you schedules one time, sometimes even hours before your shifts but expect you to show up to work
I have been working for Sunset pools for more than 3 years now. Every year I come back and work here for summer due to the friendly and amazing environment. Every year I learn more and more and I am able to help my community and make it a safer place. Sunset Pools is one of the best companies in NOVA due to the fact that not only they provide jobs for teenagers over their summer break but they also insure the most maintained pools for the safety of the people.
I liked working for Sunset Pools last summer of 2020. I was looking for a job since I graduated college last spring. The office staff, regional manager, and cluster supervisors were great at managing people. I have been a lifeguard, pool manager, and roving operator(managers substitute) in the past years. The apartment complex pools worked out well to lifeguard as I wanted a job with minimal supervision and a supervisor oversees me at my worksite. I was new to this company this summer and I had a wonderful experience. I highly recommend working for this pool company.
