Amazing experience! Where some ski resorts tend to have very similar slopes, Sundown offers a truly different experience with each course. Beginners and experts alike can enjoy skiing/snowboarding here, and the longer-than-average courses ensure that your time is spent skiing, not riding the ski lift.

I went skiing here for about six hours during the day on a Friday. There were plenty of people there, but not nearly as many as I expected during the holidays. They provided ski, snowboard, and helmet rental, but not goggles (although they are available for sale).

Not exactly a mountain but the best you're going to get in Iowa! It is a very large hill with a beatiful view of the surrounding countryside. Plenty of lifts and runs. Have a big and small terrain park with a great assortment of items to do tricks on as well as some big jumps. Lodge has food and is very toasty and homey feeling.

This place is great! The skiing is awesome, hard to tell if it is fake snow. The ski instructors let you go at your own pace. French fries are good, but prices are a little high. All around a great place to spend time with your family!

When it comes to Midwest skiing, this place is as good as it gets. No, you won't get a ton of vertical here, and yes it can be freezing cold and icy conditions, but honestly what else do you expect? They have a fun terrain park, enough vertical to at least make the runs feel worth it, and the price is very reasonable. I prefer Sundown over it's neighbor across the river.

Great price and great service! Didn't know about this little gem of a ski resort - we were looking around for mountains and finally realized these slopes go down towards the Mississippi river, not up towards a mountain! Friendly staff and great setup for new learners!

Open seasonally for winter sports fun... But in the summer this West facing hilltop is a magnificent spot to watch the sun setting...hence, the perfect name for this location.. Sundown Mountain.

Great place! Getting your equipment was easy the staff was wonderful. The adult lounge/bar is a great place to relax between slopes. Food was a bit pricey but not ridiculous. All in all had a great time.

We have been bringing a group here for 7 years, the staff is wonderful, and the facilities have been greatly improved over the years.
The groomers do an excellent job of keeping the slopes in Great shape which is not always easy in Iowa.

Very helpful staff, great slopes, and outstanding... Well nothing was outstanding, but everything was enjoyable. I recommend it to anyone looking for a pretty average Midwest skiing location. Keep in mind this is Iowa, so none of the slopes are super long or exiting, but they are all well groomed and maintained.

This place is great for learning to ski. I learned here a year ago and it was such a fun environment to do so. I went back with some friends recently and it was another great experience. The views are beautiful and the staff are quite friendly. The preseason is great because it is not very busy and for amateurs it's helpful. Looking forward to going back!!

The staff was well coming. They have good instructors. Even though I was slow in learning the instructed waited till I learnt the basics. Even when there is an accident there is immediate help..

I went to Sundown with a friend last week to pick our skiing skills back up.
I had a lot of fun, although I will say that their beginner's course is very long. I would suggest (if you are just learning to ski or snowboard) learning somewhere else. There needs to be a course that is a step up from the bunny hill but not a full length course.

We had a great time here! It was a very busy day, but we still waited only a few minutes in lift lines. There are enough green & blue runs to have variety when coming down the hill. Skiers of differing skill levels can split up and easily meet again. There are only two black runs, which was ok with our family, and there are two terrain parks. Dining area was crowded, but they had quite a few choices and good was reasonably priced. Staff in all areas were friendly and helpful. We'll be returning!

Love the ski school and the instructors. Have taken our kids yearly for the last 3 years and it is always a fantastic experience. Excellent value and affordable to get the kids on skis at a young age.
