Sunbelt Golf Group/Fred Smith Company Review

I was driving towards Cary on US 1 yesterday. A logo-ed Fred Smith company truck was driving in the left lane (see photos). I was behind him for 5-10 miles, and his speed kept fluctuating from 50-70 mph. I decided best thing was to pass him in the right lane.

I turn on my directional and begin to pass him. At the exact same time
that I begin to pass him, he engages his directional and quickly begins coming into the right lane.

The concerning part?

He did not stop coming into my lane.

He kept coming, forcing me fully onto the shoulder at highway speed. I kept my hand on the horn the entire time. Narrowly missing road debris I somehow negotiated my way back onto the highway, .

Adding insult to injury, he then proceeded to make his way back into the left lane (????).

I don't know anything about this company's competence in construction, but its employees could use a driving class, or three.

Not a great way to treat your potential customers, in a logo-ed company truck nonetheless.

On 9/24/20 I was driving on US117 from Goldsboro to Clinton. This construction company's truck went full speed over into my lane. I laid on my horn and they continued to come into my lane resulting in me going off the side of the road. Upon looking up the company, I noticed another reviewer posted that the same thing happened to them. Absolutely awful and reckless driving on more than one occasion. Terrible way to represent the company that you work for!!

Fred Smith is a great customer of ours at Gregory Poole Equipment Company. These guys are awesome!

This company is disjointed, under achieving, and unproductive. You'd do better to hire Barnhill. You'll pay more, but you'll get fast and quality work.

In reference to his company townhomes management, in Mingo Creek, I've been a resident here for 6 years now and the customer service is extremely terrible. From the VP Brian Strickland bullying the residents (I guess b/c he's a lawyer and has been with this company for 25 years), to his manager Tricia, who ignore us residents and send emails to her coworkers (accidentally sending to the resident she ignored) calling us crazy instead of responding to us. Yes! This happened!

Fred Smith is running for Co. Commissioner in Johnson Co. Is he and his campaign aware of how his employees are treating the residents that keep his businesses running and allow for him to be a business man? Now is the time to let him know if you have concerns because this is definitely not a positive look for a campaign.

Mingo Creek management and leadership has been absent for 3 years, I hope Fred Smith's leadership won't be absent for the people of Johnson Co.

When it is time for me to pay my rent, I don't ignore this company, I pay my rent. When will this company stop ignoring their responsibilities?

The only reason I have a 1 rating is to be able to write a review. Do NOT even consider this company! Their bragging about doing Hwy24 is a straight up LIE! The road is nowhere near being complete! All they ve done is made a chaotic mess!! They are 470+ days OVER contracted date!! Our city has been in shambles for months because of their incompetence, lack of management, & unqualified workers! They could care less about the terrible mess they ve made tearing up the roads & leaving 1lane traffic for months in the busiest part of town. It s ridiculous & an embarrassment for my city!

do not buy a home from fred smith or one27homes, they are cheaply made with terrible customer service and everything in contracted to the lowest bidder.

They only care about your money...nothing else. Customer care is a foreign term to them.

As countless others have stated, Fred Smith Company has the worst customer service imaginable. The home isn't the best quality, but certainly not the worst. Dealing with the company on the other hand is like throwing your concerns into a black hole. They are all about the money and nothing else. Don't buy from FSC!

This company has the worst customer service. I would not recommend anyone to more to any Fred Smith property.

Just called the non emergency police number for Clayton police since y all think it s acceptable to start loud construction work at 6:30 on a Saturday morning and wake entire households right behind you in Riverwood. Before beginning construction work y all should maybe look at and understand noise ordinances that are in-place in the communities in which you work and claim to care about.

These people are all around AWESOME human beings. I lost a cat and they saw me walking around a construction site looking for her. I thought she had gone down into a drain. 3 men came over and pulled the drain up and crawled down into the hole of 4 different drains and through the tunnels to try and find her. It was a random act of kindness that restored my faith in humanity. God bless these men!!!! Keep up the good work!

They have some of the worst drivers! Today sitting at an intersection on Perry Creek rd the driver not only cut me off at a stop sign coming from a right turning lane, BUT, they also tailgated anotyer white truck through the intersection turning left. They nearly by about a few inches took the front bumper off of my van trying to turn left while coming out of tye right hand turning lane. Obviously I am NOT the only person to experience this with your company's drivers. I guess it won't matter to you all who drives your vehicles until tou are completely responsible to someone elses vehicle or medical bills. I uave jever used your company for business, and seeing this is how your driver's drive while advertiaing youe conpany name, I never will. Reckless, and dangerous!!

I work here so I have to give great ratings, They are honorable, Christian believing people with over 900 employees with the motto of respect all others.

We love our home here in Riverwood! Our home isn t real hardwood floors and the cabinets are cheap, but we knew that before buying. We love the school, the greenway, the river walk and our neighbors!

This people are very irresponsible, I have called twice in 10 days and the msg says their line is disconnected, to leave a msg and that personnel will get back to you. Left a VM, in 10 days no one has called me back. I would not do business with these clowns again if I were paid to. Very, very disappointed. I am a local customer from Cary, NC the company is located on Chapel Hill Rd between Cary and Raleigh. Don't do business with them!! They have a lot of competitors in the area. I am calling someone else!!

WARNING: DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM OR DO ANYTHING WITH THIS COMPANY, READ BELOW!!!!!!

I joined the gym in Clayton with a membership that required a YEAR (the first stupid mistake I made) commitment. We moved to the beach, and I tried to cancel, but the lady at the office said I had to wait until December 2016 and send in a formal letter in writing.

Right around December I found out I had testicle cancer and the doctor said it needed to come out; they wanted to schedule an operation for the next day (so I forgot about sending in my cancel letter).

I had my testicle removed and was isolated to the bed for the first week, couldn't do much of anything and was on drugs to keep me resting. The recovery time is six weeks, and today it's February 6th, 2017.

I called the office (after getting a nasty letter today threatening to sue) and told them the story; I explained I haven't been to the gym in over six months, then told them I had cancer and a testicle removed. I asked them if they could cancel my membership and not make me pay for the last two months. They told me they could cancel the membership, but they still made me pay $178.00 which include an 18% late fee.

How's that for HORRIBLE service? They made a cancer survivor who was healing, and a Navy vet pay the late fee & membership even after explaining the entire situation.

I have been working as a traffic flagger on Fred Smith jobs via Labor Finders since July 2019. They are a great company to work for. Now me my son and wife work for them often and they are always our favorite jobs to work on. They pay better than other contractors and have the most competent foremen and staff. We always look forward to working for them on Stadium drive in Wake Forest. Desmond, CJ and Wesley are great people to work for and with.

I use to work for Fred Smith , worked there a little over three years. Went from operator to foreman !! In general not a bad company !! Their biggest problem is to many political games and power struggles in the office and the Project managers and Superintendents!!! All I have to say is if Jule Smith doesn't change some things the company is going to fall apart before he knows it. Wish the company the best of luck!!

They are hard worker they work around the clock to get the job done even on weekends people who are working are kind well spoken and care for your safety and other's

Hands down the poorest customer service I have ever experienced. I strongly encourage you to do thorough research and talk with homeowners about their experiences with Fred Smith Company or other Smith family businesses, including One27 Homes. Run, don t walk, away.

Been with company for several years now I have 25 years in this line work best company I have ever worked for bar none good people ,professional knowledgeable, safety first is not a mission statement its real life here practiced everyday, If your looking for a good home this is it.

Have submitted 2 contact us forms requesting someone get back to me regarding safe entries/exits in the Riverwood community, and in almost 5 weeks no one has gotten back to me. The confirmation email stating "someone will be in touch with you shortly" could not be further from the truth. The least they could do was call or email me back, which they certainly have had the chance to do in over a month. Next step is going into their offices in Raleigh in person.

Drivers are horrible. One almost ran me off the road with my child in the car. They need to reevaluate their drivers!!!!

Guy in a Fred Smith company truck, going 20 mph, waving me to pass in a no-passing zone before a blind curve. He parks and gets out, in the middle of the lane, and tells me just go around as if he s really annoyed with me!

This company is putting asphalt into an apartment complex near our home. They have left asphalt all over the road and the sidewalks. It is getting into our shoes as well as affecting the pause of our dogs. The transportation department is really rude and don't know how to talk to people some of the staff there are vary carrying to the employees or soon to be employee I think someone needs to evaluate him because he is wrong on how he is doing things but overall it's a ok place to work when they get them bad apples out of there

I think their decision to block Ligon Mill Rd in the middle of the day was highly unwise and selfish. Their crew is sluggish and the methods are inefficient. I tried to leave a message and option number 4 (general mailbox) just looped me around until it hung up on me. Awful public service!

I live in Springdale Estates and our roads were in horrible shape. They came in to repave a couple weeks ago and did a terrific job! They took the time to edge everywhere asphalt met dirt, grass, etc. I was pleasantly surprised how non-disruptive it was. These guys know what they are doing.
