I use to LOVE Sun Basket! Couldn't live without having at least 2 meals delivered each week. However, for the past couple months they've started cutting back on the options for meals. I use to be able to order steak meals.... now they seem to all be ground meat & strips. Salmon is now an occasional "treat" and if you're lucky enough to get it, the rest of the meal is abysmal. This week I did have the option for salmon, however, it comes with white beans! Really??! It's too bad. They really had something going, but cutting costs seems more important. If anything should change, I will be happy to give a better, more deserving review. Come on Chef Justine! Go back to your beginning basic principals of good recipes, not just profit!

Food is mostly good when the delivery gets to you. If you live in the Bay Area, they use a service called on OnTrac and it s literally the worst delivery service imaginable. They deliver to the wrong place leave items on the curb instead of in front of your door, etc. the drivers are the worst. Sunbasket switched my delivery day to a FedEx day but somehow I got redirected to OnTrac again - so if you re fine with not receiving your order after days of it not being put on a delivery truck (spoiled food) and then a driver wbo won t deliver it to you go with Sunbasket! After that, you then get to deal with reaching out to the company no less than 3x to get a response and get your money back.

The recipes are awesome. The portions are large with lots of fruits, veggies, grains. It's healthy, tasty and I have good leftovers the next day for lunch or dinner. I've been enjoying the breakfast options as well.

Pretty terrible delivery service. First delivery was so late that it was unusable for dinner that day, ruining an entire meal (9:30PM arrival time). As a result of the super late delivery time, it also spent way more time on a truck than I felt comfortable with. They also managed to not send the "four free gifts" listed in the promotion that I used. When I decided to cancel after the terrible first delivery, they managed to also make that a pain, and tried to charge me for a second week. I would take a hard pass and recommend pretty much any other meal delivery service.

We had previously used another weekly meal product and were not thrilled with the quality of the meats, chicken or pork. We also prefer organic. We didn't really like the end results of the recipes, they were so so. I looked around for reviews on other companies and settled on Sun Basket. We love it! I have lost 14 pounds with a combination of exercise and their healthy meals. HOWEVER, the best thing about Sun Basket is the really delicious meals we are eating. New recipes and ingredients we have never thought of have become delicious dinners. We also really like that you can log in and choose from about 12 different meals a week making sure you'll like each one. We have had some awesome dinners so I have saved all of the recipe books. We are very satisfied and plan to continue with the service. Their packaging is also more earth friendly and can be recycled.

Love getting my Sun Basket every week. I've honestly seen a vast improvement in several markers of health in the year I've been subscribed from stronger nails to improved digestion. Its great to have the options for meal kits + prepared food + odds and ends like quick breakfasts and lunches.

I have enjoyed Sun Basket meals for a few months now. I love the organic produce and meats. The quality of ingredients is very good. The recipes are easy to prepare and far from boring. Customer service is excellent. I had some issues initially with the shipping, but Sun Basket listened to my concerns and fixed every problem. I am very satisfied with my experience so far.

Had problems from the first shipment forward. First shipment the second box showed up a day late and all the contents were unusable and hot. I'll chalk this up to Fedex issue. The second week, we had warm meats that were leaking onto fresh veggies, shrimp not even near the ice packs. The fresh products, seasoning etc in the paper bags had shifted and spilled out during shipping. Due to the leak one of our boxes had ants. We were super excited since we try to eat organic and this really would have simplified things. I offered two stars since customer service has been helpful. The other star was for a neat looking box logo. Can't say much for the food, only had one rice dish that didn't go bad in shipping...I think there are probably less problems closer to CA where the home base is, the shipments out of New Jersey to Georgia just aren't working

**Update 6/28/2017** I am increasing the star from 2 to 3. I still haven't tried any full meals, but I want to say that customer service has tended to our inquiries quickly and professionally.

Horrible tasting while super expensive

I get what they were trying to do because it seems the emphasis is healthy food. I wish I would have known that first though, probably wouldn't have signed up. Probably the worst meal of all was the Fresh ricotta cavatelli and zucchini with pesto alla trapanese. It was completely inedible. It smelled funny (not rancid just horrible) and tasted awful and I SPENT $26 for 2 servings on it. For $13 each, my husband and I could have had a nice meal delivered made by someone else with not one pot or pan needed to be cleaned by me.

Also, there are no dates on any of the meat packets. This is a problem. All meat should have packaged and use-by dates. Actually, all the food should have use-by dates. Oh and just to make any of the 6 meals I needed to add extra stuff to make it edible. Butter, sour cream, rice, seasoning. Every meal needed one or two things to make them at least passably edible. The food really is bad...

If you do use this company don't get the steak. The amount of chewing will give you TMJ. It's all sinew and dye. Don't bother spending more for better meat. There's no better meat.

This is a cheap company. Customer retention is not a priority.
They really should offer a 0 star option.

I wish I could give this review 5 stars, especially based on how wonderful the green chicken curry sauce was, however they forgot to put the chicken in my box ( thankfully I had some frozen chicken thighs on hand). Good thing I had a bag of onions too because I needed to replace the sprouting one that came with the meal. Also, the tiny container of fish sauce drained out during the deliver process making for a really smelling box upon arrival as well as a missing ingredient. But even with those three mishaps it was still a fabulous meal with super fresh veggies that I highly recommend, just make sure the ingredients are all there so you don't have to make a sudden grocery trips at the last minute. I really believe that meal alone was worth the little extra problems. Now onto the shrimp taco diablo; They were delicious, and very fresh as this was the first dish I decided to make from our box. Every ingredient was included and we really enjoyed the meal. The last meal was the Salmon with Strawberry-balsamic; my husband loves salmon, I don't but I got it for him because we rarely have it in our house due to my tastes. My husband said the salmon was great, the strawberries were nice and ripe, as were the peas, however, I had to pick through half the arugula to get rid of the yellow and slimy ones but this is probably due to being the last of three meals I prepared from my box. With all this said, I still recommend trying Sun Basket or sending one as a gift. This was an interesting and fun experience getting to make things I normally wouldn't ever try making at home. I'm a trained chef, and enjoy creating and trying out other chef's creations and will probably be using Sun Basket against in the future. I also realize how difficult it is creating several delicious and healthy meals from fresh ingredients that can be shipped while staying unspoiled, especially organic since it doesn't have the chemical compounds that other products contain for longer shelf life. Like I said before, I wish I could give this company 5 stars, but I had to remove one due to the chicken being missing. I have no problem overlooking the other slight issues as the meals were wonderful.
