Summerdale Apartments Review

I always enjoy when I am able to compliment exceptional service. Shannon, manager @ Summerdale Apartments, was a pleasure to work with. My husband and I were delighted by her professionalism and the care she provided when helping us to decide if Summerdale would be a good fit for our family. The property was very well maintained and she was able to answer every question that we "threw at her". The 3 bedroom apartment that Shannon showed was awesome; very spacious, loads of storage, walk-ins, and in excellent condition. The approval process was completed quickly; we are excited about our choice to become residents of this community and are confident that we will have a great living experience!

The people who gave this place 5 stars are paid liars!! Some of them HAVE NEVER BEEN RESIDENTS. Ashley Keck doesn't live here. She lives across the street so I'm not sure why she's even rating the place. STAY AWAY. Your car will get towed WITH YOUR PASS IN THE WINDOW. This place has turned to s**t thanks to the sociopath manager Tawanna Sims and her trusty sidekick Colethia. This used to be a decent place to live until they came. Tawanna will screw you over and use your private information to find ways to screw with you. There is mold in the apartments. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. If the positive rating is BEFORE 2017, then it's legit. ANY POSITIVE RATING AFTER 2017, when the Demon Tawanna Sims came, IS A LIE. The place has also become graffiti and trash ridden under her watch. Something it wasn't before Sims came. Whenever they get a black maintenance man, he's the only one you see working. The other two have been caught drinking ON THE JOB!!

Here's what Summerdale WILL NOT tell you:

1) YOUR CAR WILL GET TOWED (PARKING PASS OR NOT)
Residents have had to call the police on J&R Towing on multiple
occasions.
2) Tawanna Sims turned this decent livable community into a
nightmarish HELL HOLE. She particularly takes aim at, and harasses
Section 8 residents. A resident's vehicle broke down and she had to
work a few extra hours to get it repaired. Tawanna told her when she
moved in she had to report her hours. She did and Tawanna told her
she was over income. SHE HAD ONLY BEEN HERE ONE MONTH.
Tawanna kicked her out! She did something similar to another
resident, kicking her out after 7 months.
3) YOUR GUESTS CANNOT PARK AFTER 6 PM OR THEY WILL BE
TOWED. Only 1 visitor pass is issued per household and Tawanna has
made households with two cars use the visitor pass for the second
vehicle. Tawanna will charge you what ever she feels like for a lost
pass. It can be $50.00 or it can be $150.00. This seems to depend on
whether or not she tolerates you. She will find excuses not to issue
your parking pass which have ranged from "You don't have Virginia
tags" (forcing one tenant to put VA tags on their car) to "Your
insurance has to be in your name."
4) Tawanna has, on multiple occasions, applied residents rent payments
to other tenants accounts. When she does this, she will contact you
and tell you your rent is late and charge you a late fee until you go in
and chew her out..
5) Tawanna has REPEATEDLY charged new tenants for the previous
tenants water bill.

It's interesting that the majority of the people who gave a 5 star rating don't live here and have NEVER been tenants. ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK!! LEGALLY PARKED RESIDENTS WITH PARKING PASSES IN THEIR CAR WINDOWS GET TOWED OFF THE PROPERTY EVERY DAY! YOU CANNOT HAVE VISTORS ON THE PROPERTY AFTER 6 pm OR THEY WILL BE TOWED. They only give ONE VISITORS PASS for each apartment. If you have two cars, you have to use that visitors pass for your second car and you DO NOT get another pass for your guests. If your visitors pass is lost or stolen, it costs $50, $125 or $150 to replace it. The price depends on whether the property manager likes you or not. Parking wasn't a problem until Tawanna Sims became property manager. BTW, YOUR PARKING PASS WON'T PROTECT YOU FROM BEING TOWED. THEY TOWED THE TENANTS IN BLDG 300, ALL OF THEM! J&R TOWING CLAIMED THEY DIDN'T SEE THEIR PARKING PASSES. REALLY? THE WHOLE BUILDING? TENANTS HERE ARE STARTING LAWSUITS. I've lived here 8 years and Tawanna Sims has turned this place into hell! She is a terrorist and will retaliate and harrass you if she doesn't like you. She put the rent my sister paid on somebody else's apartment. If you move in this month, you will get a water bill for LAST MONTH! You do the math. People have moved out because Tawanna told them she wasn't renewing their leases...WITH NO PRIOR NOTICE OR A REASON WHY! Tawanna Sims came here after Shannon quit. The last assistant quit. Good people don't stay here. Because Tawanna Sims is property manager, a lot of people (myself included) are not renewing their leases. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!

Have a family member that lives out there, their apartments are nice and spacious.

If any things on your credit report don't waste your time cause I did which my judgement is 8 years old and my background. I don't understand how property owners and businesses don't give people a chance if it's over 6 years and which ones my credit report says 100% when it comes to paying on time

Mold, robberies in broad daylight. 2 buildings next to mine have had their doors kicked and have been robbed, IN BROAD DAYLIGHT! 2 times in each building that I know about. My neighbor's son was robbed at gun point entering his apartment IN THE FRONT OF THE BUILDING IN BROAD DAYLIGHT! The water bill is what ever they feel like charging you, no matter what you actually use (I'd swear the meters are being messed with). Residents and visitors get towed almost every day parking pass and all. Especially after 6. They went to hell and personally recruited Tawanna Sims. She's rude af. At least Colethia Robinson will smile in your face while she puts a knife in your back. You can only use their cable/internet which goes out ALL THE TIME. RUN...DO NOT WALK AWAY!!
