Great show room.
A curious fact: the Bolshoi Theater stretches below the border square.

They gave Giuseppe Verdi's opera "On the Masquerade" - the director and artist is some kind of foreigners, but you have to give credit, superbly!
True, if you compare this with Alexandrinsky and Mariinsky, then it will pull 4+!
But I recommend it anyway! Large, after reconstruction, a worthy sight!

Great place, many staffs are able to speak English and very helpful. Actually have 3 seperate buildings with 3 different stages. If you come here for show, I recommend you to arrive around 60 mins before it starts. They have great performance and you better book it via online.

It's not good time for Bolshoi now. They lost many excellent singers and opera directors. Bolshoi gets much money from the Russian government and spends it not very wisely.
+ Expensive costumes, historical interior;
- Weak staging, weak actors.

We made a tour of this unmissable place of Moscow, there are only 3 sessions of visit in English per week with 15 places to 1500 rubles per person, we did that of Friday at 11:30, we arrived at 10:45 and it was time, a person already gave the 15 bracelets to people waiting in front of the theater that gives the right then to enter to buy your seats! The visit lasts about 1 hour, and you discover this fabulous theater, including the main performance room, as well the ground floor as the 3rd and 7th balcony, and some other rooms! Not disappointed of this moment!

The Nutcracker is just magical !!! Still a good tradition to watch it on New Year's holidays :)

Life hack: large lines in the buffet and toilet, but not everyone knows that on the -3 floor there is a huge buffet of the Beethoven Hall without queues and there are a lot of restrooms :)))

In July 1820, the construction of a new theater began, which was to become the center of the town-planning composition of the square and adjacent streets.
Even closer, on a wide area, stands the Petrovsky Theater, a work of modern art, a huge building made according to all the rules of taste, with a flat roof and a magnificent portico, on which rises the alabaster Apollo, standing on one leg in an alabaster chariot, motionlessly controlling three alabaster with horses and with vexation he gazes at the Kremlin wall, which jealously separates it from the ancient shrines of Russia!

The theater is located in the same place where the Petrovsky theater stood, which had been inaugurated in 1780 and which was burned down in 1805. In 1819 a competition was announced for the new theater project; the competition was won by Andrej Michajlov. However, his project was deemed to be too expensive, so Moscow governor Dmitry Vladimirovich Golicyn commissioned architect Giuseppe Bove to modify it. The work on the new project began in 1820 and the new Gran (Bol' oj) Petrovsky Theater was inaugurated on January 18, 1825 with the ballet Cendrillon by Fernando Sor.

Great place.

Great place.
Living three years in Moscow, unfortunately, was only once. Resellers quickly buy tickets (selling by passports would solve all problems), and then the cost of these tickets reaches tens of thousands. If you come an hour before the performance, there is a chance to grab the standing places, but there are not many of them, it is easier to follow the availability of these tickets on the official website.
Chic interior, great repertoire. everything is at the best level!

Super interesting tour for 1500 rubles. Guide in Russian or English. Sumptuous place. On the other hand, I take off a star for the organization of the visits. 2 very long lines for a visit at 11am in Russian and a visit at 11:30 in English, 3 days in the week. Each visit 15 people not one more. The tourists wait in full sun, often for 1h or 2 (like me) do not know what is the line in Russian is the line in English and then fight to find out who arrived first ... nightmare.

Wow place in Moscow.

Wow place in Moscow.
Visited 30 years ago, 1990, and has been fantastic because during a normal show a "flash mob strike" for 5 minuts, when all worker people stopped on the stage in Front of Us, only ask a best condition of work at the Comintern Russian.
At the end, only applause for them!!

The theater is simply gorgeous, it must be seen. I won t say anything about the ballet troupe, as it was their tour. But the theater staff is very polite, nice people. They helped us with pleasure and talked about their theater.

The performance and artists at the height. The theater itself is a rare one, from the finishing to the personnel. There is no air conditioning system; you are choking in the hall, elevator. There is no way to lean the bag somewhere when you present a passport. But you are happily yelling "do not put the bags and complain to the administration" (I really wanted to put on a big scandal). During the evening offered 6 times. No pointers. In the left elevator buttons, not all work. The elevator is small, the queues are big. The lobby is scarce. The higher, the more dismal and poor. In the buffet there is no possibility to pay with a card, only cash. The staff seemed to be from the 80s. Curse in front of foreigners and arrogant with the Russians. The questions are answered rudely, they do not consider it necessary to help. In short, this is not a national treasure, but a Potemkin village, before the Turkish hotel there is still 10 reconstructions to be done to a large theater.

A must for any tourist or resident who loves the arts. It's a classy experience but the music and dance are all accessible to any willing to open their minds to it. It's an experience you'll never forget.
