Very easy to deal with and pleasant staff. Car was clean and ready when requested. After our drop off, staff tracked us down while walking to the skytrain and delivered my wife s headphones she had left in the car. That was service above and beyond, in my opinion! Thank you West Broadway (Vancouver) staff!

Awesome service from start to end! They upgraded me as going out on highway was a nice benefit, talked to gentleman bout trip and on return to the South African lady about her country nice. Car was clean and serviced well and best of all left my RayBan's in the truck... got a call that they had them for pick up. What a treat and so appreciated! Thanks again!!! Scott

I ve been a repeat customer, and am EXTREMELY UNHA...

I ve been a repeat customer, and am EXTREMELY UNHAPPY with my experience here. I ve rented cars here about 8 times and today was the last time for these reasons:

- Not once have I received a clean car. There is always hair, left over garbage etc. from previous users. They actually admitted today that they often don t clean the cars because of turn-over volume.

- This time, they told me gas is full and I realized it wasn t after I had left the lot. Their response when I mentioned this on return: why didn t you call and complain? My response: why did you give your customer the wrong info?? I told them that I filled up gas to where I found it (not full). Silvio (the agency operator) told me to wait while he goes across the street to check the gas monitor, and huffed out of the store. WOW.

- I had asked for an economy car and received a 7-passenger full size SUV in the lot, without the clerk mentioning it when we were doing the paperwork. I only needed a small for a solo trip (enough room, cheaper gas) and had to pay out of my nose for gas. When I asked about this on return, they replied: why didn t you complain? Most people like a bigger car anyways. Well, I didn t, for good reasons and it s my fault to not complain? Why give people the option of choosing the size of car they need??

- At the end, they (Teresa) told me that if I don t like, I shouldn t come back. You know what, they have a point. I won t go back.HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I usually have good experiences, except for the time I arrived before the closing hours stated here on Google, and they were closed. Apparently last call for pickup is 5pm. They claimed to have called me, but I never received a call from them. I did call them, which is automated and the person that finally answers cant do much except change the reservation. We had to pick up at the airport and pay $100 more than the original booking. Not cool.

The owner thinks he is a very funny person while he s just rude and unprofessional. He didn t accept my international drivers license and didn t present reasons for that at all. Worst experience ever. First and last time, don t recommend

Came in on Sunday December 27th. Called in advance to make sure the car was there. The lady who worked there definitely needs more training in regards to rewards programs. She was trying to convince me that all they had was Aeroplan. In fact, if you book online you have dozens of options. She has made 3 phone calls just to find out how to manually enter my Air Miles number. Also a simple smile would definitely help to run this business.

This location is my GO-TO for car rentals. Silvio and his wife (?) are always friendly, efficient and have everything ready on time.

They actually CARE about your experience. One example of that is when I booked a small car to go snowboarding, and unbeknown to me, most small cars have back wheel driving, which is not ideal in snow. They were kind enough to upgrade me to a front wheel car - at no extra charge.

Obvs, don't expect free upgrades, but DO expect amazing service. Their cars are all new to like new. Online bookings are easy as pie, and if you are an Aeroplan member, don't forget to book with your aeroplan number to receive a min. 500 aeroplan points. Just be sure to make sure they have that number when you check-in.
As with all car rentals, you will need a valid drivers license and a credit card.

When you come here the first time, it is not immed...

When you come here the first time, it is not immediately a place that is logically findable. More remarkable is that without announcement we went from a full size sedan to a mid size SUV. The car was fairly new, undamaged, but very dirty. In addition, what Avis can't help is that the Ford is rattling on certain road surfaces and that the infotainment system occasionally "hangs".

Beware! They do not rent to people with a class 7 ...

Beware! They do not rent to people with a class 7 licence and it does not clearly state that on their website. I would suggest they use statements such as "we only accept class 5 licences" so that they do not waste peoples' time as their information is not only difficult to find but when you do find it it is misleading. On the plus side I rented from Enterprise who really helped me out in a tough situation. They found me a car on short notice, picked me up with all my luggage and gave me a free upgrade from an economy car to a full size luxury all for around the same price. They saved my first vacation in years! When I do get my class 5 in the next couple of months I will never be renting from Avis due to this experience nor will I be advising anyone else to. Go with Enterprise!

Very awful service - no talking through the contract, no explaining about what the insurance cover eg one driver two drivers - no asking if we needed GPS - sold out of them so had to do it old school with maps - place smelled bad and broken window outside ! Go somewhere else - super expensive too 4 day rental 600$

Really BAD experience with this agency.

Really BAD experience with this agency.

We rented a car on May 14th 2017, when we picked up the car, the lady at the agency told us there was no damage on the car, that we should check it before we leave and come back to report any damage if necessary.
The cars are parked on a lot opposite the agency and the lady was alone, so NO ONE comes with you to check the car, which is really unusual.
Unfortunately, it was raining cats and
Dogs, and our only mistake was to not check correctly the car because of the pouring rain.
On the same evening, we noticed a scratch on the rear side above the wheel. And of course, we clearly didn't scratch it, or maybe we have Alzeihmer's.

On May 24th, we drop it off, again no one comes with us to check the car (even though there were 2 employees), and they call us back later to tell us there's a big damage...
We had to fill in an incident report, and the lady told us that we will receive an estimate of the repair fees, certainly not before a month, because there are many damages at this time of year.

Today (may 31st), we have the great surprise to discover that AVIS debited 200$ on our bank account without informing us!!! This is simply unacceptable! They just charge you without telling you why!
I've written to the claim department and I'm still waiting for their reply...

Clearly I would NOT recommend to rent with Avis!

Please people read the reviews before considering booking a car with Avis, I booked a car for collection at their 906 West Broadway Branch, I got my confirmation email it was 29dollars, when I arrived to pick it up the guy behind the counter had earphones on listening to music and did not remove them just asked me for credit card and license, I left the store and an hour later they rang saying the price was wrong on my confirmation that there had being a glitch in their system and the actual rice was 168 and they already charged my card for that amount, I called avis and absolutely no help at all,

It is a complete scam, I am a young guy with my girlfriend heavily pregnant and we can not afford 168 dollars but they didnt care and said we can do nothing about it, please read all the reviews on this as other people have also had terrible experiences with this crowd,

Rented at this location multiple tines (while they were still at Broadway). Never a single problem, car was always ready and good to go. Returns are simple as well. Couple of gas station nearby makes refueling an easy job.

Rented at this place for ten days because my car is at repair store. I have my local insurance, therefore did not need a insurance on this rental car. However when I come in to sign an new contract for the rental car because I needed it for extra few days, the man putted insurance in the contract. I signed the contract base on the trust, since I clearly stated three times that I have my own local insurance. Now I have to pay 40 dollars extra per day. When I found out and phone them about this, he is rude and refuses to extend the contract for me. AVOID this place, they have very little choice in their car selection and literally no sense in customer service

We booked a 3 day rental through Costco and was initially worried given the online reviews. Fortunately we had a great experience so I felt compelled to write a review. Service was great and the pick up was quick and efficient. They even gave us an upgraded car and our drop off was also smooth (at YVR airport Avis). Would most definitely book again!

Lady ran through a credit card authorization of an extreme amount and said oh it shouldn't be this high so ran a second authorization through at a lower amount. Both amounts were taken off the card totaling $450 for a $170 hire car that was already paid for. Called Avis customer service who did not care their employees had done that and hung up on me

Edit: I have already called your customer service twice and still nothing has been done about it.

I have never been so poorly treated in my life. The branch manager was rude and extremely unhelpful. We rented a car for a week and called to ask if we can extend the rental. As a response, instead of a simple 'no', I was screamed at by the manager. I don't know nor care what triggered him. I just know I will never ever rent from Avis ever again.

[Scam alert] Got charged for a max cleaning fee of 250 CAD after returning the car with a bit of a dog hair (no smell or any damage to the car, of course).
There us no such fee in the agreement I was given there. Per website, they can charge UP TO 250 CAD for cleaning, but obviously in my case it's not reasonable at all to charge the max. It's a 30sec work with a vacuum, no more...
Worst customer service ever!
After having another issue with Avis in Toronto a week ago (we got charged for a full tank instead of just a couple if litres - it least they deleted the charge in the end) - we'll never rent a car from Avis again.
Update: after another phone call they said it will be around 50. The issue isn't money, but their rudeness.

Unorganized, car had a low tire alarm, next car had transmission issues, they didn't properly process or paperwork causing a huge issue on return. We waisted at least 45 minutes at the airport and never did get a proper accounting of the charges. Talked to another customer returning a car to the Seattle airport that had picked up their car at a different Avis. They had mechanical problems with 3 different cars at pick up. The fourth, the one they ended up renting had the check engine light come on before they finished their drive. Be careful renting from Avis.

This location brought in a pick-up truck for me on short notice and had it all full, clean, and ready to go when I arrived. Very nice service and very fair, which was a nice surprise after being duped by other car rental places in the past. They forgot to point out that there was a charge for extra kilometers when I picked up the truck, and they waived the fees when I arrived which was very kind, rather than saying "well it's in the contract". It was nice to not have to go to the airport to get a car and I will be using them as much as possible in the future.

we had an awful experience with this location. There was some problem with our reservation and they didn't try to help us at all and accomodate something for us. It was a problem with Avis system, I called the customer service and after talking to them for 30 min, we got disconnected and they didn't call us back, eventhough, they have our contact information and could easily follow up with us. Do not recommend making reservation with AVIS , especially this location

I've rented from this location many times and have always found the service to be good. I like the fact that you can phone the branch directly and speak with staff without having to go through a 1800 number. Same people have worked there for years and they really know what they are doing. Recommended.

Cars in great condition. Managed to get a free upgrade from the level I was at. Very reasonably priced when booked online.
Only downside of this office is it's early closing times, but cars can be left at the hotel across the street if dropping off out of office hours

I was 1h late for my reservation (transit issues). Had to wait an hour to get another car since they already give mine to other people. Never had to deal with that before. Room full of people waiting, disorganized. Lost half of my vacation day because of that.

At least the upgraded the card and I had a ok service

Stay away from these deceitful crooks. Theresa is a rude and unprofessional beast of a woman to deal with. Called over 3 hours after drop off to say a crack formed half way up the windshield, when I stated it was not there when I dropped it off she became rude and defensive and hung up with out explaining what was to happen next. She has now ruined my holidays! Stay away as she will ruin yours!

Car rental guy didn't wash the car properly, washed it ourselves before we set off on our trip. No issues with the car though. Did a one way rental to Calgary from Vancouver. Price was right, the Ford Fusion was new and drove great! Would rent from here again, it's cheaper to get it here than to rent at the Vancouver Airport.

We tried to explain to the manager that banking system does not work the same way in France, but he did not want to understand and he was rude! So we went to enterprise where we had a great service!

My wife and I visited Vancouver for a couple of weeks, and had four bags we needed space for. We rented an intermediate size class vehicle from this Avis through Costco. We were able to pick up the car a few hours early (for a small fee that s fair), but they gave us a Toyota Carolla hatchback. This car is charitably speaking a compact. We couldn t close the hatch when we tried to load up our largest bag! Although pretty big, this is a bag that airlines never charge us extra fees to check.

My wife and I have rented a few intermediate size vehicles in the US. As long as we rented an intermediate size car, we could fit these bags in it.

When I raised this issue at the service desk, I told the representative that our bags didn t fit. I insisted that the car they rented us wasn t an intermediate size car. The agent argued with me, countering that it indeed was intermediate size in his system. While he didn t lose his temper, he wouldn t budge on this issue, and charged us CA$150 to upgrade to a VW Tiguan!

If what this agent told me and my wife is true, Avis is downsizing all their vehicle classes, and isn t disclosing it. Very unhappy with the service I received here, and won t be renting from Avis next time.

Needed a rental car at 8am for a drive up to Whistler. The staff were friendly, but the line was long due to some computer issues. Took about 30 minutes to get a car that had been reserved. Everything else (car quality, price, ease of return) was as expected.
