If this were based on service alone, Sugar and Plumm would get five stars. However I have to take into account the delectable chocolate, sensational caramel swirl and moist chocolate bready parts as well. If you havent put it together, I got the chocolate caramel crunch cupcake and the chocolate covered banana macaroon. If heaven exists im pretty sure Sugar and Plumm has the market cornered.
When you walk in you'll feel an instant sensation of euphoria... either that or an airborne sugar rush.
Come in, relax, and let your troubles disappear faster than your body image.

A cute little restaurant known for their sweets and desserts. The space is nicely decorated and all the desserts on display make you feel like a kid in a candy store.

I came here for a brunch for a friend's birthday on a Sunday at noon. We were a party of 5, and because they do not take reservations on Saturdays and Sundays, we had to wait about 25mins for a table.

Meals range from $15 to $24. I heard so much about the crunch toast (French toast) but the restaurant was out. Disappointed, I got the lemon ricotta pancakes instead, which were surprisingly good. Our table also ordered the smoked salmon Benedict (great) chicken and waffles (the chicken was okay, but waffles were fantastic) and the crepes with ham and gruyere cheese (okay-pretty basic and nothing special).

Our table also had the bread basket to share. I had two issues with this. First, it arrived after our entrees were served. The whole point was for it to be an appetizer. Second, it was terrible. The croissants seemed stale, the biscuits were awful, and the banana muffin was just okay. Even the presentation was bad, and for $10 it was definitely not worth it.

The customer service was excellent, which redeems the bread basket. The manger asked us how everything was, and I explained that the basket was highly unsatisfactory. She apologized and said she would take it off our bill. I was pleasantly surprised and really appreciated this.

We had a good experience, and although the food was alright, I would return for the customer service, as well as the French toast.

The unique flavors of Rose Lychee and Violet Cassis macaroons are especially important to note, as they are these perfect flavor hybrids. The french toast is epic, but very heavy. So heavy, tasty brunch (the opposite of a clean vegan breakfast), but not overcrowded and great for those with a sweet tooth.

The space is big enough for children to run off their sugar rush and they definitely do. If you are sitting down to eat without a child, be prepared to be ignored by waitstaff. Very overpriced for what you get. The kitchen needs to have better timing as food came out sporadically.

This place was awesome because of the wide variety of food options. Everything we tried was delicious. The sliders could have used some more seasoning and the crepes were mmmm mmm good. Seating was quick even though there was ample traffic. Take out is also an option. Decor and food were fun for children and adults visitors.

Super cute set up. Fun menu, with all sorts of savory waffles, sweet waffles, etc. Their french toast was massive, but took a while to arrive and came out cold. They have a wide variety of ice cream based drinks, some including alcohol, which were fun. If I come back, it'll just be for dessert since that's where they excel. Cute sweets shop in the front of the space.

My sisters and I went to try this place out last night. Granted, a Thursday at 8 pm. may not be a very busy time in a neighborhood like the Upper West Side, but there seemed to be only one waitress attending the entire dining area. (Others were behind the crepe and sweets counter, but they never came out to assist.) Further, the waitress spent time behind the sweets counter, drinking and goofing around with other employees. It took fifteen minutes for her to come over with menus.

That being said, the food was delicious. It was definitely pricey- my cobb salad was $20- well done, and the bites I sampled of my sisters' plates were also very well done. I'd try it again to see if the service is better on a different night/time, but not often, due to the price.

All of the sweets were also very fun

Overpriced for the product. I had a black and white milkshake that was maybe 12-16oz at most. $9 and wasn't that thick, it was actually more milky than shake consistency. Taste was absolutely nothing special. Although friends said the macaroons were exceptional.

I didn't dine there, only had some ice-cream. But I love to enter and just look at the exhibition of candies they have there!
The store is so cute and colorful!
Everything looks so delicious and sugary. A healthy diet indeed.
One day I'll go and eat there and then I'll give a full review.

I love anything that Pichet Ong makes. He truly is a dessert authority and Sugar and Plumm is no exception. My favorites here are the chocolate sorbet, the fruit tart and all of the croissants! Bon Appetit

Place was quite busy but after we ordered our food and said to sit in we had to wait ten minutes while the hostess ran around tables cleaning up. She paid particular attention to a table to make it very clean for the people in front of us but seemed somewhat hesitant to seat us. After four tables freed up, she asked us to follow her and said "here you go" and walked off without another word at a table covered in crayon marks and food from the previous patrons. This sort of stuck up attitude will not have me visiting again.

We walked past this restaurant for 2 weeks before we tried it. Wish we had gone in sooner! Brunch was delicious and good value (for NYC). Kids loved waffles and crepes. For me the pulled pork waffle was the best meal of my holiday. Yum! Service was super friendly and quick. Overall great experience.

Stopped by for some coffee. It was rich and good. Believe the place is a local mommy spot as there were children everywhere and I think at least two birthdays parties going on. Liked the decor and feels like a good place.

A large open space with an old school dessert shop feel. Morning crepes and afternoon/evening desserts are very good. They also have a full assortment of coffee drinks and cocktails. A popular place for parents to bring their kids, especially on weekend mornings.

After waiting 20 minutes to be seated (not due to do space because there was more than 10 tables open but because of them not having enough utensils) I was told I could not have a table because my nephew only wanted fries and you need to order more than fries if you want a table. What if my nephew and I have dietary restrictions and can only eat fries off your menu... simply ridiculous. Shove your fries and entire menu!

Fried chicken was fresh and hot, 3.5 rating on this Sugar and Plumm. There was just too many babies and it was really crazy loud. Came here for a baby shower brunch and it was nice. The food is not roll your eyes back amazing, but pretty decent. Loved the chicken more than the waffle.

The restaurant is split into a few sections; the dining area, the dessert section, and the candy store area. The decor is very "Alice in Wonderland" meets Dylan's Candy Bar. Super cute. I also like how all of the women who work FOH are wearing these cute "Plumm" colored wrap dresses.

Thinking this was just a dessert shop, I didn't come here with the wide-eyed glare of optimism I usually get when I go to a restaurant and prepare to eat copious amounts of meat. Once again, I was proven wrong-o.

The menu is very Brunch-Friendly, offering Crepes, Chicken and Waffles and Eggs Benedict. I opted for the Sugar & Plumm Crunch toast (Brioche, Strawberries, Mascarpone cheese), with a side of chicken sausage. Super delicious, and a huge portion of it. We were also treated to a bread basket, courtesy of the chef! If that weren't enough, we snagged some sorbet on the other side of the restaurant. I got some cinnamon/vanilla concoction that was really delicious.

Very delicious food that is reminiscent of childhood lunches, but presented better. If you enjoy chocolate, check our their sweet section. Just beware, there tend to be a lot of children's parties so it can get a little high-pitched :)

Perfect place to celebrate one's birthday or an occasion if you're into sweets. Their selection is expansive and great for pictures. Bringing kids here is ideal as well and their sundaes are amazing. Their food is good too by the way.

This place is a cute place to have brunch with the girls or dessert after dinner. You can either buy chocolates and sweets in the store near the entrance or dine in the restaurant area. The desserts are extravagant and whimsical. My friend and I ordered the earthquake in a bowl and it was enough to feed 4 girls. The staff are really nice and attentive. I'll be back to try more desserts.

A great neighborhood Italian grocery store. Robert DeNiro ate lunch here while filming "A Bronx Tale." They got lean sirlion chop meat to make your meatballs taste better. Clean inside and everything is fresh. This is the place to buy Italian delicacies. A MUST! A+

This spot sure stands out - it kind of looks like it was decorated by Willy Wonka. Inside, there is a huge assortment of sweets, candies and pastries. They tend to cater to the higher end of the confectionery pallet. I am a big fan of their cakes, especially the grasshopper. The quality and price are both high here, so I would recommend it for a once-in-a-blue-moon treat.

Good menu options and decent food. The service was lacking, especially for a place that is very kid-centric. Overall we enjoyed it, but I don't think I would go back unless it was just convenient.

Like many suggest the Pork Belly app is wonderful. Hubby got the chicken wings and they were great but hilariously overpriced. Both our salmon and steak entrees were massively salty and the accompanying sauces missed the mark. Our desserts were good but then again who can mess up a sundae (which were the only item we were told we could choose for our dinner, disappointing)? We had the LivingSocial deal which included wine. You only get to choose between a Cab Sav or Chardonnay. We were served Camelot Chardonnay and I joked that by the taste it must have cost $5. Of course when the bill comes S&P has inflated the prices to show you what a deal you got (wink wink). They even up the prices of all the food on your ticket which is ridiculous since the dessert prices are up on a board so I could see plainly that the receipt was a lie (bad form S&P). Anyway, our wine was listed as being a $46 bottle on the receipt. We Googled the wine and sure enough, $5.99 or LESS at most retailers and the palate can tell! Get in, have the pork belly, maybe a sweet thing and get out. Skip the dinner and online "deals."

Had a really nice sweet brunch here with family, for a birthday. The place can be crowded and there's can be a wait. It isn't cheap, but also not too expensive, and the food was yummy. Amazing desserts and sweets. If you have a sweet tooth you will love this place.

This is a review about the restaurant, not the sweets. The food wasn't great and the service was subpar.

We were in a big group, so we got to try a good variety of food. The Huevos Borrachos were good. Avoid the crepes. Eggs Benedict were just fine but not delicious.

You can't to have a relaxed breakfast here. Don't go if you are just visiting NYC. You are made aware that you are such a pain. The locals however are welcomed with a huge smile! The girl at the checkout cannot differentiate between a drink for a kid and a drink for an adult. If you didn't know about the full service option and ordered your food, you MUST stay at the take out waiting table. You are not allowed to sit and eat at the full service table even if you have kids eating with you.

UPDATE: went again for brunch this morning and reevaluated the syrup. It is real syrup, just not a high grade syrup.

My biggest pet peeve with restaurants is when waitresses tell you that they have real maple syrup and then it gets to your table and it's absolutely NOT. I grew up in Vermont and I could almost tell you without even tasting something whether or not it's maple syrup...

That said, our brunch was delicious. The boozy hot cocoa gets cold fast though and then you're just drinking chocolate flavored whiskey.

Nice breakfast and lunch restaurant /cafe. Limited sitting area but a long line. We ordered various crapp and they were all superb. On the other hand, The French Toast was a bit greasy.

As we set in the "take out" area we were served in cheap plastic /disposal dishes and cutlery.

My mom dies over their eggs benedict, but I'm a sucker for the lemon crepe. They are known for their desserts, but truth be told, they aren't my favorite. I really only like one of their macaron flavors- the violet cassis. Other than that, the macarons are just average. Their breakfasts are the better choice!

I've only had the desserts here, cuz they're so rich.
