A lot of the things that you have heard about this...

A lot of the things that you have heard about this school is not true this school has the students do a bunch of homework. If you look at which countries have the best schools Finland comes up, their school assign about 5 minutes of homework. The school day in Finland is 6 hours and 30 minutes long and they have 15 minute break between each class. We have 8 hours 45 minutes of class. They give us 3 minutes to get from class to class. We also get about 1 hour and 30 minutes of homework to 2 hours of homework. Also during our very limited lunch and recess period we have to be silent for the last 2 minutes fine what ever but if one person talks they have to stay after school for an additional 15 minutes, but not only that but the whole entire grade has to stay for 2 minutes and they're kids that get 45 minutes of detention after school (The max) everyday and so it doesn't affect them but they are making the entire grade stay longer and this is only if 1 person talks this goes on for a long time. We still have to go to the park which is about a 7 minute walk, so we normally would have 20 minutes of play time but with these kids we have no joke about 5 to 7 minutes of time outside. For about 8 and a quarter hours of school, that's stupid. Don't send your children to these school.

We have two kids at Success Academy and we LOVE it. Our older child has been with Success for 6 years and now attends East Flatbush Middle School and our younger for 3 years at Cobble Hill. At the elementary school level, we really like their curriculum- they do project based learning on different topics like bridges (they build bridges with blocks, do science research projects on types of bridges, write journals as people who would have worked on the bridge, walk across the Brooklyn bridge, etc). The students went on 2 field trips a month, start learning chess in kindergarten, and have recess everyday. The kids also have art, music, and phys ed each week. In middle school, the students have trimesters and electives where they can take classes like debate, photography, theater and more. The teachers at both schools are really warm and they challenge each student to reach their full potential. The staff also provide their phone numbers and respond to any calls or texts within 24 hours.
The pandemic has been tough of course, but the network decided early to go fully remote which made planning easier. The staff at both schools has done an amazing job of engaging my kids remotely and planning ways for kids to still get to know each other and make friends.

All the staffs, teachers and administrators of Success Academy are patient, they try their best to answer the parents' question and help them solve problems as immediately as possible. All the teacher cares the scholars and they are responsible.

So happy my daughter is part of Success Academy. This is my daughter's 4th year and my experience has been very good. I always have great communication with the teachers and the operations team. They are always available to help in any situation.

This is a horrible school. They are just another one of the failing education system. This is coming from a Success Academy student. They cram information into your head, expecting you to memorize it and then take a test every month. This too much. I don't understand why people think Success Academy is all that. We have very long days and lots of homework. Why would I want to be the smartest girl in the school and be unhappy? Does knowledge matter?? Success Academy doesn't allow us to just be kids and enjoy ourselves. The teachers are also hypocrite because they tell us not to eat junk food and they take it away when next minute they are eating junk food.

Eva if you read this please shorten school days so we can strengthen our imagination and creativity. Shorten the amount of homework because life is not about how good your grammar can be and if you know that mitochondria is the power house of the cell. Life is about seizing the moment and understanding that you only live once. I want to become a ballerina when I grow up so why don't we have less time for school work and more time for our passions. Please listen to this feedback/review and share it to anyone you think would like this.

Firstly, I would encourage everybody to read reviews (or speak to) parents whose children have actually attended the schools. My daughter in now in 6th grade and has attended SA since Kindergarten. We chose the elementary school because of its emphasis on rigorous academics (science every day), but ended up loving it because of the joy and happiness pervading the classroom and hallways. (Yes, really! Come for a tour if you don't believe me; you will see it.) The teachers are extremely caring and receptive and the majority will respond within 24 hours.

Even in 6th grade, which has been completely remote, I hear from teachers about my daughter's progress (good or bad) almost daily. I never have to worry that she's going to slip through the cracks. Maybe we've been lucky, but in more than 7 years, we have never experienced a lead teacher leaving in the middle of the school year.

One of the great things about Success Academy is that once you have a place at one of its elementary schools, you never have to worry about middle school or high school as it's K-12. My daughter was offered a spot at one of the most highly sought after middle schools in Brooklyn, but we turned it down to continue at SA. Considering how well SA has handled remote learning, I do not regret that decision for one moment.

There are very strong expectations that your child will show respect to both the teachers and fellow students at all times. Bullying is handled swiftly and my daughter has never once felt unsafe at school.

Yes - it is tough being an SA parent. You are held accountable for ensuring that your kid is at school on time (online and in person) in uniform. There is homework which can be a struggle and the Wednesday half days for teacher training can be difficult for families.

My advice is to go on school tours and speak to parents. SA is very transparent right from the get-go about what it does and does not offer. If it seems like the right school for your family, then it probably is. If not, then I'm sure you will find another school in NYC that will work for you and your child.

My child attends Success Academy Washington Heights. I have been thrilled with the quality of teachers and of the curricula. My child has had engaged, enthusiastic, dynamic teachers for the last 2 years. They are responsive, bright, and will work with parents until any issues are resolved. My child is LEARNING in leaps and bounds. The teachers have been able to make remote learning work for these children this year. The schools building is large, beautiful and perfect for these kids. I am excited to get back into the building in August.

My experience with SA is different. They are terrible dealing with kids with disability. They don't know what to do because these kids can't perform the way SA want them to perform. It seem that if it up to SA they wouldn't take any kids with disabilities. They take some, but it is limited and try to give parents a hard time. Shame on them. Shame on them.

Success Academy is an amazing school and community!! While there are many choices in NYC to educate your child, we have felt truly blessed that we were selected in the lottery process when our child was 6 years old, now almost 12 and thriving during remote learning. Again, my gratitude goes to the school!

While different news stories highlight controversial sensationalism, we as a family with Success for the last 6 years have only been met with support and guidance, from admin personnel to in class instructors. Their professionalism and respect coupled with swift reply exceeds my expectations. While nothing is perfect, we love Success because they keep evolving with relevance to feedback from families.

Be advised that his charter system is for families who commit to rolling up their sleeves and getting involved with their children's progress to navigate the rigorous academic curriculum. This challenge really bonds the families as we help each other with advice and support. The teachers are like cheerleaders and I have seen so much hugging at pick up and drop off. In addition, there's an emphasis on multiculturalism that did not exist when I was school aged.

Success Academy is renowned for academic prowess and performance but my child has also been enriched by the art, music, dance and performance curriculum that brings the parents to tears and laughter with each production. The parents who we've befriended are like family now. This school community has really touched our lives.

My kids have had and are still having an amazing experience at Success Academy. They make learning fun while keeping the kids at their "A" game.My love for Success Academy sky rocketed during this pandemic. It's amazing how they quickly transitioned into remote learning and still doing great. My family and I are extremely grateful for the opportunity to have our kids in this school.

Ive been very happy as a new scholar parent at hudson yards. Compared to public school school is very organized and structured, all for scholars' benefit and the serious business of their learning. All teacher s have good to excellent class presence. Read the SA glassdoor complaints and I see they weed out personalities that shouldn't be teachers.. Sorry, but some folks lack certain stage presence, (like me) so they just don't make good teachers, to detriment of an entire class of children and themselves. Nothing magical about SAs stellar results, they put in the time and effort. No one is allowed to just fall behind. Kids that don't test to standard are given extra instruction for both them and their family. So no kids gets left behind (unlike my public school). The network chooses and develops best results teaching methods - not those that sound the best to certain parents. And as other parents warn me before I picked SA, it is the best school for those families who accept SA philosophy and methods and the work required. If you don't like it please go to another school. The school isn't going to change itself into just another public school, and it shouldn't, with its excellent results to back up its policies.

Btw because of remote learning I am sitting in class as much as my child. So I see how my child Is being taught and how the teachers interact with the kids. The mix of discipline and correction and nurturing feels well balanced.

Worst school ever!!!.. This school is about numbers and staying above the rest and any scholar that they think is gonna hold them back they find a way to weed them out at any means necessary.

My kids attend SA, and they both received excellent education. The teachers are exemplary good, the classroom environment is very conducive for learning and i cannot trade the school for none!

Equity, high expectations, and accountability are words that comes to mind as I reflect on my daughter s educational journey at Success Academy, so far. Yes, there are no perfect schools. However, I am proud to report that SA has delivered on their promise to me that my daughter will receive a high quality education. SA offers amazing electives, tutoring, sophisticated dissemination protocols, a solid remote learning program, and most importantly a platform for parents to engage with all stakeholders in the fight for equality for our children in low-income communities. I understand that SA may not be a choice for all children. However, SA is the only choice for closing the performance gap between children attending public schools and children attending private schools.

We are so pleased with Success Academy for our daughter. She is learning a HUGE amount...remotely! I really appreciate the differentiated instruction for ALL students, not solely those needing extra time to learn grade level concepts. The SA teachers and network also transparently and frequently communicate with parents. There is also consistency in lessons and homework across the grade, so I know no matter which teacher my child is assigned, the academic experience is largely the same. All of this is in large contrast to our experience at a traditional public school. We couldn t be happier with this school!

My family started our journey at SA about 6 years ago. We are SO lucky to be part of such an amazing community. My younger child does very little homework, unless you consider reading homework. She is excelling. My older child (middle school) has a more intense curriculum, and at times it can feel unmanageable (around finals), but he has PENTY of time to play. The school is mostly well organized and very well structured. Anytime I have had an issue, I have reached out to the teachers, the principal and even Eva Moskowitz directly. My concerns have been addressed immediately. I cannot recommend this school enough.

The worst school system I ve even seen , every month is a new teacher , kids cannot get use to a teacher and each teacher a different teaching method , are these teacher even at qualify level, more over to master.. how can you find teachers in such short space time .. plus have you notice it s all Caucasian.. for the few blacks I ve known is no longer working,.. it s time we rise up and stand up for our children their future

Success Academy is an excellent school. The curriculum is amazing, the teachers are impactful and my son is excelling because of the partnerships that we have formed with the Principal, Teachers and Staff. The academics really pushes the children to reach their highest potential. I couldn't be more grateful for Success Academy!

First year parent at this school and during a pandemic nonetheless. The school is rigorous and structured so it is not for everyone. I personally vouch for this SA and their teachings. My daughter's education means everything to me. Parents are held accountable as much as the kids and I dont have an issue with that as in my mind, everything starts at home. The quality of FREE education my child is getting to compared to public school is really uncomparable.

I am very happy with Success Academy! The school has a plan and diligently implements it. My child is happy. I love the learning process. I love the respect and support we get from the school. The school does an amazing job with remote learning. We have classes every day just like we would during normal times (outside the pandemic). If you have a question you can text the teacher and get the response the same day!

Success Adademy has provided a rigorous but engaging curriculum for my 2 younger children. They are now in middle school and I am continually amazed by how supportive and engaged the teachers are in their education. The social studies curriculum is fascinating and the science goes into far greater depth than I would expect at their grade levels. The SA network schools are not for everyone but they have certainly provided a wonderful education for us and I am grateful to have had the option of sending my children there.

i feel very bad for those kids that go to this school. reading the reviews it sound like a very student unfriendly school. if i was in that learning situation i would have most likely failed. i also feel very bad for those students who have thatveganteacher as their teacher.

Advice for parents. Before sending your child to this school. Please do some research. Maybe start asking parents who have their kids going there. It looks like they have problem keeping teachers for more than 2 months. My kids very often get a new teacher.

My experience with Success Academy charter school is one of the best decisions I ve made for my son s education. All of his teachers want to see him succeed at his education. All his teacher have given a a boost in his confidence, and always encouraging him to do his best at everything he does.

The worst school ever. 1) This summer we filled out form, where we always choose "the blended learning" as many other parents. Now teachers state, that they teach only REMOTE. My daughter becomes tired, she can't sit all day near her laptop (they start study at 9 a.m. and finish at 4 p.m.!). The administration lied to us all summer about "blended learning"! 2) The program is terrible. They learn in the forth grade the same things we learned in the kindergarten (especially math) 3) Teachers don't know how to speak to children properly, mostly all of them refers to kids just as to a job! Teachers don't know how to teach, some haven't any experience 4) The days are too long, the school starts at August and finishes in June! Through students still know nothing about math or other important subjects.
I WON'T RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL EVEN FOR MY WORST ENEMY!!!!!

White administrators/teachers vs Colorful students...

White administrators/teachers vs Colorful students:
Keep your kids out of this school as it is detrimental to the child's college readiness. If only getting into and succeeding at college was as easy as their test prep curriculum then it would be called the magic pill. The teachers are overworked and frustrated, scared every second to lose their jobs, the Principals can't keep the bullies out of the school, expect kids to sacrifice their lives for nothing if you are sending them in hopes of a better future at this school!

My son attends SA - he transferred in from another charter school in 2nd grade and have been with SA for four years. Success has provided him with an outstanding education so far. The school is responsive to parent concerns, the teachers are caring, and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, my child is learning! I have heard many parents complain about the lost year due to Covid-19. While it hasn't been easy, my son has definitely been learning. Thank you, SA!

We are very grateful to have 2 children in this school system. We wanted a rigorous academic curriculum, daily science classes and a variety of specials like art. We appreciate that the teachers and admin communicate clear and consistent expectations on behavior (and enforce consequences for non compliance). Classrooms are orderly which allows the teachers to teach. The teachers are often young but I ve appreciated their energy and enthusiasm and patience. They are also provided (it seems) with a lot of supplementary development. Everyone in Cobble Hill is so committed and hard working and warm; so friendly, so respectful. The spaces are clean, and the students are respectful of each other. There is zero tolerance for rude or bullying behavior. This may not be a perfect choice for every family as it requires a significant commitment from the parents but in return your kids can receive an EXCELLENT education. We chose this school instead of the district G&T option. I am writing this review to provide a counterpoint to the criticism I ve seen in the reviews, and to express my gratitude for Eva M s vision of a school where kids from all socioeconomic and racial/cultural backgrounds can come together and be challenged and succeed academically. My advice to parents considering this school is do your diligence, know your child s needs, and take your bandwidth and values into consideration.

Came here cause they allow a teacher to push her views on her students., but it seems the reviews speak for themselves. Don't allow your kids to go to a school that let's teachers push their personal beliefs on students. Not only do they allow it, they celebrate it. This is the exact opposite of what education is suppose to be. You give students tools and allow them to draw their own conclusions. This school celebrates telling students what to think. An absolute disgrace to education.

I couldn't be happier as a parent to have both my kids attend Success Academy. Winning the lottery there is better than winning any monetary lottery. The brilliant teaching methods they use there have allowed my kids to reach their full academic potential.

I want to extend our experience as parents who consider themselves to be blessed to have two wonderful boys attending Success Academy. We have an 8th. grader attending Hudson Yard Middle School and a 3rd. grader attending Cobble Hill. I want to express our 100% support of Success Academy. Both our children are striving academically and a great deal of this success can be attributed to the wonderful and dedicated administration and teachers in the Success Academy system. This support of excellence and commitment to the students that they serve is well documented. Hudson Yard Middle School have provided our older son with the tools that are critical in order to make a smooth transition to high school. With regard to our younger son, the support, nurturance and love that has been given to him, has helped him to progress and strive. Our recommendation of Success Academy come with earnest and enthusiasm. As dedicated parents, if you want a school of high standards, where your child will feel safe, then Success is the place for your child. Thank you, SA!!!!!

Is the greatest school. Teachers are so well trained on teaching. Is amazing seeing my kindergarten daughter reading like a first grader. This is her 2 nd year going to 1st grade. Because she able to read so much it make so much easier when it comes to number story on math problem. And don t know how teachers did it but very successful on teaching math. My daughter is capable to solve number story problem. Addition and subtraction know very well. She came home shared what she learned from science. Is just exceeded my expectation. I am so glad my daughter has a seat here SA and she is very happy in SA. Communication between parents and teachers is #1 , teachers replied to your e-mail or text same day. Very satisfied parents.

SA network has the knowledge and ability to help kids succeed. I don t feel the pressure of politics like I see with my district schools. They say it takes a village to raise a kid SA is part of my village. They care about my child education and mental health. I can always speak with my daughter teacher I see the principal every day before and after school(before Covid). During Covid they came up with a plan and my child has continued to learn making it to the principal honor roll and student of the week. They help me keep calm when it come to her education because I see they have a plan. Course can be challenging but our kids can do it and you see the change within days.

SA has proven to work for my daughter from day one. We have been with SA for 5 years. SA kindergarten thru fourth grade curriculum was night and day compare to district schools. SA has a comprehensive plan to help my scholar succeed and enjoy school. They have a great community network that provides full support to my scholar and family. During the COVID pandemic SA really shine. Unlike my district schools they had a plan A & B. My scholar never missed a day of learning and continue to strive. They focus on her learn and her mental health as well. They work with the parents to see what was working and what can improve if anything. They always provide full transparent plan ahead of time. I feel sorry for kids not part of the SA schools during the Covid pandemic I wish SA had more schools and space to allow more families in NYC the opportunity to a great learning environment were kids not only learn but strive to their full potential and find the love for learning.

One of the best decision I have ever made in my life was to send my children to this wonderful school, Success Academy Bed-sty 1. My son got left back in firts after taking the assessment test at the beginning of the school, he was in a public school the previous year and he didn't read much, now he's on grade level and doing great in all the subjects. My kindergarten daughter is reading at a 2nd grader. lot of work, but is all worth it.

We considered charter for kindergarten but instead chose a district school. The choice for the district school was great in kindergarten but lackluster for 1st grade. The lack of consistency in the quality of education was unacceptable. The pandemic exacerbated an already problematic learning setup. Therefore we returned to exploring charter schools and made the decision to accept placement with Success Academy. Success Academy was very highly recommended by parents whose children attended the school and were impressed with the learning experience. We were elated when our daughter secured a seat. We have been impressed with her learning and are grateful for her teaching team.
