I have been in school here for 3 weeks (Fontys ICT), but my first impression is very poor. The classes are far too full and there is hardly any place to work on group assignments in separate rooms. You have to do everything in a small musty class where it is often too noisy to concentrate (People who are gaming). Particularly working in a group suffers. Working on a project with your group during school in another building on your project is not allowed, because you are assessed on your progress during class, so there is nothing left to do in class every day from a quarter to nine to four Pros There is a parking lot next to the school that offers enough space for teachers 'and students' cars. The canteen is pricey, but it does offer a lot of goodies. There are also enough lifts to take you to the 3rd or 4th floor. The teachers are helpful and, where necessary, help you to achieve your learning objectives.
Poor communication among teachers where the student is the victim, even the board of examiners does not cooperate with students.
Good facilities for the students inc. the available parking spaces and proximity to public transport.
I came here as a foreign student for the Electronics Bachelor. Here are a few things i wish i knew before committing: **This is not a true university, it has a level lower than TU for instance. That means everything is easier, and you will have difficulties doing a Masters. **The quality of staff is very low. There are unqualified people, there is one sadistic employee which leads what they call "lessons". **The school employees flat out lied to me and told me that "you get to the same place as TU, but in another way" - it is not factually true, you can't do a Masters with your B.eng degree. I managed to make the most out of it, by studying outside of school and doing practical work. But avoid it as the plague if you can. It is one of the biggest commitments you will make outside of marriage, make sure it is worth your time and effort.
Fontys is the WORST university you can ever imagine. Very low grade teachers and staff. Very poor system. Anybody can apply there even without having a DEGREE or IELTS score. Yeah its true!!
Very Good University(of applied science), offers some English courses like ICT, it got small classes and that is an advantage for students in case they don't understand. The amount of theory lessons are in balance with the practical ones. Lecturers or actually teachers are well experienced and have got great knowledge. the only thing is that its not in the same level as a research university! so you have to do a pre-master if you want to continue and do masters in the netherlands! The location of the University is great and in a beautiful city. I would highly recommend this university for international students!.
Coping well with the covid19 measurements, good job
So many complaints about this university. It truly amazes me. Do people even do research before enrolling? Of course, there is room for improvement in some areas, but it's not as bad as most students claim. The education is okay and the teachers actually care about academic performance, at least, that is my personal experience. This will be, obviously, different for every student. However, I do agree with most people that Fontys tends to change a lot within a short period of time. Some of these changes aren't, per se, necessary, but due to complaints and probably some other factors they do in the end switch it up.
School is good, extra things like hardware or robots for ICT is perfect, lessons and teachers are good, dedicated help for people that are in need of more help is excellent, yet the staff that organize how the school works is absurd bad
My children will not study! Many courses are very similar! Small changes! Teachers do not speak English well enough, especially English-language courses! ICT teachers are still studying Open Universiteit!
Occasionally a bit chaotic in the company structure, but generally a good range of lessons and good guidance.
Communication is poor and they disapprove of you if you are not motivated enough nevertheless you ask for more challenge.
I studied here, but it is really a mess at this college, the employees are too lazy and the administration is chaotic. During my study time, migrations were made several times (3x) from one grading system to the other, as a result, not all grades were copied (properly) from the old to the new grading system, which meant that I had to constantly go after it to prove that I had certain subjects got it!
3,5 jaar gestudeerd op Fontys. Heb het ervaren als een goede school op een mooie locatie in Eindhoven.
I like the school. If you are motivated to study and do the required work the teachers will in turn get more motivated to help you and the whole experience will be great.
