Normally I would take up a dispute with a business directly rather than publicly blasting them on Google, but my issue has been unresolved for four months now. I have had no customer support from this company. While Stripe is a pioneer in fighting fraud and certainly that is a laudable goal, no algorithm is perfect. Like others that have left a review here, I am a "false positive". When a merchant selects Stripe to process their credit cards, I am unable to use any credit card on that site. They don't even attempt to process the cards. I am unable to use even a standard debit card. Stripe has blacklisted me directly. When I have contacted them for assistance, I get no response. They have no consumer-facing support. I have no idea why I have been blacklisted, or what I could do to resolve the issue. What I do know is I am a pretty average consumer with excellent credit and the only declines I ever see are those generated by the Stripe platform specifically. If you are considering using this company, realize that for every fraudulent charge that Stripe identifies, there are 13 false positives, and Stripe offers no avenue for dispute resolution to consumers. It may be the case that you will lose more to incorrectly declined transactions than you would to fraudulent activity prevented by this service. If you select this company as a vendor, I suggest you offer at least one payment alternative such as PayPal so that you don't lose out on all of the transactions that Stripe incorrectly blocks.

This place is a scam. I emailed them 20 times no response. My money was on hold for 2 weeks . I changed bank accounts and the money was finally deposited. Then they withdrew the deposit. I so pisssed. I will never use this service or recommend it to no one. Now the bank is calling for fraud. There is no phone number this is pathetic

Absolutely Horrible STAY AWAY.

I opened an account in March right before I went on vacation in Thailand.

Ran a card for $25,000 Dollars, and that one went thru, then ran a card for $3,100 that one also went thru. I then got stranded in Thailand for 100+ days, due to covid and airlines not honoring my flights.

Little did I know, they decided not to pay out on the $3,100, I had missed an email, and I had no idea. You would think that a company might call a customer that did nearly $30,000 dollars in their first two transactions.

They have had my $3,100 dollars closing in on a hundred days, There is no manager to talk to, there is no phone number to call, and all I get is an email stating that they will get back to me. It's going on a month since I reached out to them with no resolution in site.

I have two very happy customers, one of which has no Idea he is using my product and I have not been paid for it.

I just started my business, and it is looking as my business will fail because of Stripe.com.

I wish I had read reviews before I signed up with them. After reading all of the negative reviews about their lack of caring, and incompetant customer service, I'm supprised a class action suit has not been lodged.

I look forward to the generic heretohelp@stripe.com response.

I used to use PayPal and the problem we had was long delays in resolving issues or getting answers to our questions. We switched to Stripe and their tech support and help desk are awesome, when we submit a question or raise an issue we hear back within hours and their staff actually care and put in a lot of effort to resolve the issue. The most attractive feature about Stripe is their people and mindset to help their clients.

Stripe is a SCAM. They scammed us through their Stripe Atlas program. They accepted our application and charged us $500 processing fees, and then in 3-4 months we got an email from them saying that our business is considered to be a high risk business and they cancelled our account. This is when we didn't had a single charge back complain from any customer ever. They denies refunding us $500 fees they charged.
We lost more than $1500 because of them in this whole process. They don't have a phone support and takes atleast 24 hours to respond to emails. Sometimes they just don't respond.
This is the first place where we are sharing our experience, but its not going to be the last. Everyone from my team will dedicate 4 hours every week to share our experience on every possible channel and platform. We are not going to stop till your unethical company refunds us our hard earned money.

Edit: I m editing my review to answer your comment. Stripe Atlas charged me $500 as the setup cost. I barely used this account for 3 transactions and you cancelled the Stripe and SVB bank account. So why did I pay you guys $500? You didn't provide me any service, so I should get a refund.

Denying my refund, when you guys already denied providing us your services, is a SCAM. You are running a scam here.

Attaching the screenshot where your team member said that web development services fall under list of high risk businesses in response to my email.

I m not going to stop, till you return us our hard earned money. We will never stop till we expose you on every forum, social media site, video and blog posts about Stripe.

I was also just notified of this reversal and read your pathetic reply.... That's funny because I never heard of something that you can double in value the instant it arrives as being risky. Maybe if you were not a mindless corporately controlled sheep and did some research on said technology you will find that these items are selling within minutes on ebay. I highly consider that a risk.

Your "banking partners" or rather banking overlords are scared that WE THE PEOPLE finally have an alternative option to your banking cartel. You can play your little games of making it difficult but you will not stop this revolution. Companies like yours have no place in a true free market where you can decide on a whim what people can freely do with with their own money. I actually almost feel bad for someone so ignorant as yourself.... Remember Nobody Gets a Pass....

If you want some jerks to create a series of unnecessary hoops to get your money continue with a transaction with these folks. I am a regular person that had such a bad experience I am exploring if there are class action lawsuits against these folks. Very very bad company.

It seems like all you are doing is getting business owners to trust you by processing few payments with no issues whatsoever, then you arbitrarily decide to stop sending payouts just so you can hold on to the funds and gain interest on the money. You invent "issues" that does not exist, asking your users to "verify" everything that's already been verified MULTIPLE times, and SHOWS as "verified" on your system - just so you can hold hostage money that is not yours to keep and is due to us. You have incompetent people answering your support requests on chat and on phone, and all they do is tell your customers that "someone will get back to them" - but no one ever does. Sure, why would you bother helping your customers when it's someone else's money that's on hold? If your customer support reps "don't have visibility into the accounts" - why are they answering the phone??? I bet you've already taken your cut! Shame on you and your shady business practices. I will make sure everyone who uses your system is being made aware of this and will be filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.

*** It's now 3 days later - you did absolutely NOTHING but push the payout date even further - again, no explanation whatsoever! No wonder the web is filled with bad reviews from your disgruntled customers.

I'd leave a zero if I could. My invoice was for $224.00 and they charged me $2,000 three separate times, they probably would've done it more if my bank hadn't stopped them. No customer service to call, had to send an email, still waiting to hear back, but probably won't due to "high volume". How can such a "reputable" company make such a horrendous error and on top of that, no way to fix this error in a timely manner?

As soon as you're targeted by a dispute for "fraud...

As soon as you're targeted by a dispute for "fraudulent charge of a credit card" you can be sure that 90% of the time you will lose no matter what. As soon as this happens, Stripe will turn its back on you (but they will continue to milk you fees from other transactions). For the last 3 disputes, I provided strong evidences (pdf documents, screenshots, emails...) proving that these customers abusively filed disputes because they were either too lazy to ask for a refund, or because their bank makes this dispute process way to easy to file. I lost each case even though I provided all the evidences requested by Stripe. Stripe won't fight for you against financial institution. When the dreaded notification "payment disputed as fraudulent" reaches you, just make your peace with it and if this is too much to handle, switch your entire payment system to PayPal. They're far from being perfect, but at least disputes are fairly dealt with. Never lost a dispute with PayPal.

Terrible customer service, as a business owner I cannot even go 1 hour without responding to a client. Stripe can go over 24 hours without responding. I love how they say 24/7 customer service when there is none. Let alone there is no phone number to call. What kind of customer service center is this?

You have unjustifiably put both of my companies on...

You have unjustifiably put both of my companies on the MATCH list. We would never do business with you again due to this process, and we have no intention of trying to process payments with you. Again, you have put us on the MATCH list, and we are demanding that you take us off the list. We do not and have not done anything illicit or illegal. You are impeding on our business and making it very difficult to do business. Due to this process, we have had to close one of our businesses. Inside of our industry, we are slandered. Our competitors call behind us, lie, cheat, and coach our clients the chargeback process. Our industry is full of misinformation, and we have done many things to help our clients avoid this misinformation. At this point in time, we have rectified the problem, and we have put into place processes to avoid chargebacks. Every charge back that we have received through Stripe, we have completed the process and we win the chargebacks. We were with Stripe for over two years, and due to a spike in chargebacks, you cut us off. We do not want to do business with you. We want to be removed from the MATCH list. If you do not, our next step is to take legal action with our attorney. We did nothing illegal. We abide by the law. We did not sell anything illicit, or illegally, during our time with Stripe. You have placed us incorrectly on this list, with a false charge, and we need the situation to be rectified immediately so that we can survive as small business owners. Otherwise, again, our next step will be following up with our attorney. We have reached out to First Data and they stated that you personally have put us on a match list, and that is why we are responding like this. We would like an actual response this time, and not a template response in your answer. You lied in your response in your email to me. You said that you reached out to me to inform me of this status, but that is not true. I had to find out through First Data, and I had to reach out and do some digging with you guys to find out that it was true. You also mentioned NOTHING about the MATCH list in your response email. Again, if you do not take us off the MATCH list that you unjustifiably put us on, we will reach out to our attorney and those will be our next steps.

I would give negative stars if I could! I ordered a wine opener from this company two months ago and have not received, even though they charged my credit card immediately. every time I contact them, which has been numerous, I get a canned email back stating they are busy and will get to me soon. Never have I dealt with such a horrible company. I am turning them in to my credit card company today as a fraud and also turning them in to the Attorney General for computer fraud, since they transacted on the computer. I hope they get closed down and their employees get tossed in jail.

Many deficiencies, but 2 major ones. I own a small business and transitioned from PayPal to Stripe, but moving back shortly...
1. No phone number or replies from customer support. We had a customer scam us by purchasing on a credit card, then doing a chargeback after receiving the product. After 3 months, we weren't even able to file a dispute.
2. The transactions do not post properly to Xero or QuickBooks, and require manual posts.
Overall, frustrating experience.

The discussion has been ongoing for more than 10 days with Stripe with no tangible responses from Stripe. I am receiving same responses as if a robot is responding to me with different names and that's the thing that's worrying me the most ! If the replies were legit and answering my concerns and questions I would have given more time before escalating.

My Stripe account has been suddenly blocked for presenting a higher level of risk than Stripe can currently support with no room for discussion to prove that my work is legit.

I can provide client s bank statements, authorization, and even stamped and official notary that no party is involved in any fraudulent activity.

I was clear in my questions to Stripe and I never got an answer to my questions:
1.What will happen now with the remaining $3,615.98 in my Stripe account? I can no longer refund and no longer deposit in my bank
2.What about the money transferred previously to my bank account?
3.Which transactions will be refunded and which transactions will not. Every time u sends me a different list for payment to be refunded.
4.What is the timeframe as off today? When do I expect to see an activtiy in my account? At least if they want to close my account I need to know when they will withdraw/deposit/refund or do any activity. IT IS MY RIGHT TO KNOW!

I trusted Stripe and contributed to their profits by paying all the fees collected on all transactions and because of that I deserve answers to my questions.

I was just notified from a company I was planning to order S9 Bitcoin Miners from that they are no loner able to take the order through their stripe and their funds have been seized for 45 day due to Stripe. I thought this was a free economy. I should be able to do what I want with my money and not have some third party tell me what I can and can't do. Banking institutions are scared of blockchain and the freedom it represents. Poor management and customer support from Stripe on this issue when I tried to contact them direct letting them know I indeed authorized this purchase.

God aweful customer support. Over 1 week spent trying to receive funds from a collective period of 3 days, stemming from a fraudulent charge-back that we (the vendor) were not given the option to dispute.

Over 12 hours spent with their "support team"; frankly they're all beyond incompetent and should be fired. Only 1 employee has been honest stating, "I'm sorry I don't have the ability to directly do anything to assist you." The employee continued to add, "from my end Stripe doesn't even make sense. The problems are impossible for us to solve."

As a vendor I expect to speak to someone who has the ability to give me a direct answer. I expect someone that can (if applicable) directly do something to resolve the issue. I do not expect to speak to someone who struggles with English, cannot answer a yes or no question, or refuses to answer to me asking for the direct contact information to resolve the issue immediately.

As a vendor your support system should just be done away with. It's worthless and does not support the vendor in any way. While the service is flawless 99% of the time it is abhorrent to refuse to payout to a vendor with 1 dispute in over 1,000 transactions.

We will likely be switching processing companies.

Stripe have suddenly decided to freeze my account. I have provided written consent fromm client for transaction, ID, you name it I have given it over. Suddenly from being able to call they have become faceless. So my emails go ignored and funds just sit there with the date getting pushed back. As a startup cashflow is king. Stripe is destroying me with no good reason for when, why or how. I just checked again and the date has been pushed back for payment. Sent maybe 20 polite emails yet get nothing but automated response. i will try headquarters today as i have the phone number now. If no luck i will release phone number to public to assist in anyone needing a result getting one

Terrible experience. The service that this company provide is very expensive, worthless, and problematic. If something goes wrong you won't find a solution; the customer service is terrible. Nobody can help and Stripe must be the winner at all cost no matter if the service that they provided is done incorrectly. If you happened to be unsatisfied there is nothing and nobody to assist you. The customer service representatives' emails do not provide their last name or any information about their role within the company or phone number. All the customer service used the same email address just different people answers at all time. Can't get in touch with them; they have to get in touch with you. Their generic emails do not answer your questions... good luck to you! Further, they will hold the payment received for about 10 days and the exact charge for the transaction is calculated by them using percentage and cents. Customers will only know about the exact charge based on a percentage and until the other person pays you... the higher the amount the higher the fee.

I first heard about Stripe during an interview with the founders by 60 minutes. The two young men seemed to want to do the right thing, offer an exceptional product for e commerce business regardless of the size of the business. I started with Stripe in 2017 and have not been disappointed. The fee is fair and lower than most, emails are responded to within 24 hours with proper solutions. Best of all Stripe gets payments into my account and I have not had a problem even with refunds. Thanks

Had an issue with one of there customers being a serial scammer. They pretended to provide evidence of the service delivered as "compelling evidence". I ordered physical products and they said it was for Project Feed. No phone number posted. Sent evidence to dispute via fax. NO response. Are there others with same experience? Maybe a class action?

Terrible customer service...Same issue as others....we are a small business and our account has been frozen for about a month now and we can not get anyone to help us!!! We had to set up a personal account as we are not able to access our account AT ALL, just to get someone on the phone...the person on the phone is not able to help us...says someone will be in touch but they simply HAVE NOT contacted us!! Very frustrating and they are sitting on approx. $10,000 in revenue that is ours and revenue our company needs access to. I am trying all avenues to contact Stripe, even LinkedIn...someone better help soon!

I do not have a Stripe Account, but was scammed with an e-mail supposedly from Stripe indicating that more than $2,000 would be deposited in my bank account by end of day yesterday. Not expecting any money, I did not try to open the Stripe dashboard which is what the e-mail directed me to do. Beware that this business is being used by scammers.

Avoid Stripe. They keep the 2.9% transaction fees for any returns, including fraud returns. The 2.9% fee is excessive and damaging to businesses all across the us. Strip waves costs for large clients but will not do it for sellers on platforms such as Shopify.

If I could give this company a negative I would. There is no contact number or email to call or leave an email. I received a fraudulent charge in my bank account from Stripe which I didn't authorize and they don't have contact number for this. If you run any type of banking/credit card/payment company you should have a fraudulent department to handle these types of calls. To me this is a sure sign of this business not being on the up and up.

UPDATE: They updated and released my funds shortly after this review. Unfortunately the company still wants to charge me a $30 fee even though I refunded the money to my customer. I still cannot ever recommend this service.

The customer service is horrible. Let me clarify a few things, there is NO customer support phone number and there is NO live chat available. They are lying when they say they have anything resembling a service dept. I would never recommend doing business with these guys as they will hold your money, block your refunds, and in general just ruin your business by holding your transaction hostage. This is theft and I want my money. Now. At least give me a number to call if you want to save a little face. If I don't hear a response by 5PM 2/4 I'm filing complaints with BBB, and Consumer Affairs.

A won chargeback dispute can be reversed by stripe. This is a long post as there are details that needs to be highlighted about Stripe.

I had a chargeback dispute from a hotel guest who did not want to adhere to our cancellation policy. Funds were deducted anyway even when the guest clearly agreed to our cancellation policy. I submitted relevant documents and waited for the verdict. A few weeks later, i received an email stating that i won the dispute and the funds deducted from my accounted was returned.Yeah!

But not for too long... 2 weeks later, stripe emailed to say Sorry we made a mistake, the dispute was supposed to be a lost dispute. And they took the money out from my account just like that.

How can we trust a payment system that just decides to take money from your account as it wishes. A won dispute can actually be reversed just like that?

Please beware of how stripe handles chargeback disputes.

So another 2 weeks past and i received an email from Strip that says, sorry we made a mistake, we cannot do anything about your loss in this matter as it is in accordance with our service agreement. So basically they don't take responsibility for their mistake that result in seller's loss.

I cannot trust a company like Stripe, so i told them that i'm closing my account now and to return my balance funds to me. And they told me that sorry, we need to let a special team that handles closing of accounts and it will take some time to get your funds back.

This is like closing your bank account and your bank manager telling you that they need to discuss about when you can get your savings back.

Please beware of a payment/transaction company like Stripe. There is no reason for a big company like them to behave this way, even during Covid 19.
