To the Writers/producers of Army Brat - Ennada Rascalas,

This is in regard to the Army Brat video posted online. My friends and I who happen to be Defence officer s children have viewed the video. I am writing to you to register our collective protest. I am glad that this video was made to begin with. There are several points that any army, navy or air force brat will agree with. But it is absolutely unacceptable to talk about our Jawans in a condescending manner. Sahayak/Batmans - Please understand that these are slurs. They have no place in a 21st Century modern Army. A Batman or Sahayak is quite literally a slave.
Jawans are the backbone of the Indian Army. They are the silent majority. They come from remote rural areas in the hopes of creating a better life for themselves and their families. They are on the front lines often first to face bullets ahead of the officers. The enemy is cruel to them sometimes even beheading these brave men. Imagine having to receive a headless body of your loved one. They do not have a voice. I am sure the speak in the video will not disagree with any of what I have stated above.
For your information there is a movement underway to do away with Sahayaks especially in the fighting arms like Infantry. Soldiers, who are trained to hold guns in their hands should not have to polish the shoes of the officer, serve the memsaab afternoon Tea, be a surrogate for the officer s child and pet dog. Over all the Indian Army is in need of serious reform. The current lifestyle is unsustainable given the environment in the country. Bottom line if you need help with household chores get a maid (And pay for it!!!).
I do not know who the speaker is. Perhaps he is well known in the Chennai community. This person does not speak for all Defence kids. The moderator who answered viewer queries posted online that the speaker was the 'Son of' an Army man with X, Y Z experience. I wonder if it is the speaker who directly posted the responses on your behalf. I can sit here and talk about what my father has done. I am immensely proud of my father and his achievements but I certainly do not 'pimp' it. All Army kids learn about maintaining decorum at an early age. I guess here it is a matter of upbringing. Also it is a matter of having personal accomplishments. All in all the Sahayak part reflects poorly on the Army and on this individual. Totally unimpressum this time!!
Secondly your moderator was unprofessional. It may be your content but when you put it in public you should expect feedback. You are not special. In your profession it is quite common. Just ask the AIB Guys (love em!!!) and Karan Johar & Co. It is the genie that does not go back into the battle. Would you make a frivolous video about Rohith Vemmula or BR Ambedkar in this day and age?? You will almost certainly invite trouble of every sort including legal.
I look forward to a response from you guys although after the encounter late last night I doubt if I will get a response. Which is also implies this son of an army man is a coward and cannot take the heat. At the very least you should put out a clarification on the YouTube page.
Cheers!!!
