I got my first two Strange Bikinis in 2017, both were custom made by the owner, Ali. Since then, my collection has grown to 11 swimsuits from this company! It's been great that over the years her size options have grown so I don't have to get custom tops to fit over my large chest, lol! The store in Reno is so cute and they throw really cool events throughout the year. Definitely a staple business of our community. My swimsuits from her latest line are my absolute favorite because the fabric is so insanely soft!
Strange bikinis is unique in that Ali will work with whatever you want. If you go custom, she stays in touch with you and gets it done when she says it will be done....unlike other custom bikini small businesses I've ordered from in the past. She made me some custom costume pieces for Burning Man a few years ago too. This review is loooooong overdue, but I bought my Strange bikini a while back and am still obsessed with it! I've had quite a roller coaster with some body image issues, and I have to say the adjustable scrunch bottom made me feel super booty-licious! And it has remained a comfortable fit even when my size has yo-yo'd at times; no pinching or "muffin top" nonsense. Plus, Ali was fantastic at working with me via email on narrowing down what I wanted, and what my options were with fabric choices/what worked well together. The fact that it's been over a year since I bought it and I still remember that it was such a pleasant experience says something. I own a custom monokini and several bikinis and monokinis from Strange Bikini's collections over the last 3 years and I can honestly say I love every piece that I own. The attention to detail in each design is unparalleled. I have taken all of my swim suits on adventures in Hawaii and in the mountain lakes and they always hold me in where I need it while looking flattering and feeling comfy at the same time no matter what activity I'm doing!

I m really picky about swimsuits. The bikini I bought here is so ridiculously comfortable. The fabric is amazing and it s so well made! I have a larger chest and this actually fits me! I ll be adding a lot more to my collection! I always recommend this shop to friends and family because if you are going to wear a swimsuit all day, it better be comfortable. The fact that they are also flattering seriously is the icing on the cake!

I tell everyone I know to get a suit from strange when they re looking for one for the simple reason that they are extremely high quality and fit perfectly. I purchased my first strange bikini last year and haven t looked back since for any other bikini brand! I love how versatile their styles are and honestly the most comfortable suit I ve ever bought.
In addition to their products, if you care about the source of the products you buy (which I hope you do ) the owner is very compassions about the environment to have biodegradable fabric! We all have a responsibility to leave this world better than we found it!
Such a disappointing company! Killer advertising and cute handmade swimsuits? Totally! The owner sucks though. I called them out for their use/promotion of the word 'gypsy' and educated the owner (or whoever responded to me personally) on the history behind the word, and she goes on to tell me what she thinks the word means herself (a traveling carefree spirit and nomad) eww barf -- and that if she were to act on the feelings of everyone, she wouldn't have a company. And then she blocked me? A CUSTOMER who has bought 4 bathing suits from her company who was just communicating my feedback. Excuse me but this is irresponsible and sad. Not a surprise her clientele is predominately white women... maybe do more to be inclusive or at least illustrate that to someone clearly showing concern. YIKES.

Price seems steep until you realize the material is made ethically near their stores and all the suits are hand made. I have 3 suits and they are all great quality, comfy and form fitting. Also one of their strange sweatshirts and it is so cozy and one of my favorites! This is an amazing business to support and I can say enough positive things about them. You ll just have to take a look for yourself.

I was so excited when I found Strange Bikinis. Especially Ali, who custom makes swimsuits! Being a plus size girl I already find it difficult to hunt for swimsuits when either the top is uncomfortably small or bottoms that make you look like you have a saggy diaper. Unfortunately the the SB s XL does not fit. My size is 14-16 bottoms, 38 DD-top so I get my suits custom. If you order a custom, be patient and expect at least 4-6 weeks. Trust me! It s worth the wait. What I appreciate is Ali s commitment to detail and ensuring all her customers are satisfied. I feel confident wearing her bathing suits. My husband thinks I look incredible! So I m sold!

A few years ago I ordered a one piece... I m small on top and bigger on bottom... so it gapped a bit in my rib cage. I wrote in to Ali about it, she asked if I could come by the shop so she could alter it! She had to deconstruct the suit to alter it, but it was done in a day or two. How often do you get a custom bikini with a custom fit to your body! It was lovely... I ve been a die hard fan since.
My most recent bikini was the Stryker.... I was waiting for my size and color to show up on their websites for restocks but I grew too impatient, aka, way too excited! So I wrote to her account on Instagram. They found one in their Santa Cruz store! Took my payment super quick and easy and had it in the mail to me within a few days.

During a pop up on Maui, Ali took the time to measure me in the suit, make a few adjustments so that it fits perfectly! I love my strange bikinis!!The material is super buttery soft and stretchy with no tight unflattering elastic waists. I usually have a hard time finding flattering bikinis because I have a larger top and a bigger bottom , yet strange bikinis feel like they were made just for me!

I've always had a hard time finding a bikini due to my chest (DD); one that would fit properly and be flattering without tons of padding - Strange Bikinis has done the trick! Both tops I ordered fit PERFECTLY, giving me the support and flattering cleavage (no big cleavage gap like other tops) that I have been looking for without all the extra/unnecessary padding. I don't know how Strange Bikini's does it, but I'm EXTREMELY HAPPY! I LOVE my strange bikini. Earlier this year I had a baby so I haven't felt super comfortable in my own body since having my baby. I have multiple Strange Bikinis and I love them all! My suggestion is to really read Ali s tips about sizing on the website. A snug fit dry is the perfect fit when wet! Nothing worse than a bikini that starts falling off when you swim! I have two bikinis and a monokini - I think my monokini is one of my favorite things I ve ever owned. I feel super sexy and confident in it.

Even though these bikinis are a little one the pricey side they are soooooo worth it! The material is so soft and hasn t faded a bit. I ve bought about 4 pieces and have taken them everywhere from the river, beach to the swimming pool and they are still just like new! The fit is also great I have thick thighs and wide hips and they fit like a glove! Definitely my new favorite brand of bikinis!
