Perfect location but overpriced as usual in London

Good hotel which meets all your basic needs. There are lots of places to eat within walking distance. Covent Gardens is within a 5 minute walk. The room is small but most hotel rooms in London are small. The room was very clean and service was good. There is a place to store your bags if you arrive before 2pm. The underground is close and there are always taxis near by.

Stayed here with my parents for 2 nights. I had a great experience. The lobby is big and modern. The bed was comfortable. The room and bathroom were clean. The staff was very friendly as well.

I would definitely go back for my next trip to London.

Location is great for tourists and businessmen alike. Beds are comfy. Staff is attentive and nice. The interior feels a little dated. My room was small yet big enough. The bathroom was a decent size. Recommend making a stop at the Gin Palace on the ground floor.

Welcome to 1990. This place only counts for it's location. The whole place is very dated. Especially the downstairs area. If you have the money for Strand you can spend them anywhere else with no need to travel in time.

I went here 5 years ago and then it was awesome.
Last week I stayed 4 days over here and it was disappointed.
Every time the people came to clean our room we found a lot of hairs in our shower, the shower is to small for normal people. My bf is 1m75 and had to bend down to take a shower because it was just to small. The bad was like heaven and the cookies we got were also very good! When we turned the shower on it made a lot of irritating noise. You could feel the cold coming trough the window even when it was closed.. The ventilation in the bathroom was also really loud, so if you were sleeping you could here this and it would be super annoying.
There was in the room also a lot of dust. And if someone closed the door of there room you would wake up because it was super loud.

The staff was friendly and really a bonus! The cocktails were delicious! You have a lot of choice of breakfast, but it was sad you always had such a little glass to drink your water from.. I saw same people fill there glass, drink it till it was empty (standing still where the drinks were) and than fill it up again. The eggs were also a bit to runny + Not a alternative for yoghurt for people who are lactose intolerante (like me).

But overall it was an okay stay.

Room does not correspond to what you booked
unbearable in summer months (NO AIR CONDITIONING)
Beds are uncomfortable
way too small
no refrigerator
to the "inner courtyard" where our room was ... you could hear the ventilation of the kitchen and construction work

Big improvement since the revamp. Nice clean rooms although they do lack air-conditioning and the bathrooms could do with some further renovation as the showers feel a little dated.

Room blacks out nicely and the free wifi works well. Favourite of mine is the 'lazy Sunday' offer allowing a check out up until 5pm on a Sunday, which is great if you're out on the Saturday or want a room to come back to in the afternoon.

Lovely hotel. Very clean and tidy.
The room I was in was very small and suitable for one person but full value for the price.
Located very close to tourist centers restaurants cafes train and bus.
A.Boker was pretty bad and not worth 12 pounds even though the price of A.Boker was very reasonable.

Stay away! Sold rooms with renovated pictures instead gave us a very old room, bathroom with a clogged sink and maintenance couldn't fix it. Reception tried to change my room to a lesser room. When i asked for a complimentary room mangement tried to charge me 70 pounds extra per night! Unbelievable, just stay away!

Stayed at this hotel for a work trip. Glad I didn't have to foot the bill because what a disappointing stay. Don't be fooled by the door staff or foyer, trying to market themselves as an upmarket hotel but the rooms are smaller than a average premier inn and outdated. It's in dire need of a deep clean and modernisation. The bathroom shower was extremely loud to operate, paper thin walls where you can hear other rooms TVs and even people sneezing. Breakfast was chaotic, people seated at dirty tables that had old plates on, no coffee/tea provided. The kettle in my room was also broken, I went down to reception hoping to collect a new one. I was met by a rude reception member who reprimanded me for coming down to the desk to resolve my issue rather than use the phone. Completely uncalled for, rude and unprofessional. To top it off, the kettle never arrived.

Went for afternoon tea. It was okay, but apparently you need to state on booking if you want plain rather than fruit scones - despite menu saying both. Also substitutes were made, which happens - but should be confirmed beforehand rather than only admitting after we confronted them about it. The food we actually received was good with nice flavours.

The hotel is boring, old fashioned, good for elderly people who need and want a a central, safe and reliable place in a big city. The location is hard to beat but the rooms are small and VERY BASIC.

Avoid this place for at least several months (I'm writing this in October 2018). They were doing construction immediately below our room and we were woken up early every morning by the sound of drilling into the ceiling of the room right below us. We came back for a nap later, but again unable to sleep because of construction. We had trouble talking with each other in the same room with how loud it was.

I get renovations must be done, but they can't leave one empty room buffer between the work zone and where guests are staying? And the desk was of no help. They just told me construction has to go on, and there was nothing they would do about it.

Handy for the theatre's. Easy walking difference from Waterloo. Superb, comprehensive, breakfast buffet. Bedroom was comfortable, but unfortunately no aircon. Also, toilet cistern took several minutes to refill and groaned in pain towards the end.

The hotel staff very helpful and overall had a pleasant stay. It s centrally located and we used the HotelTonight app to get a great deal so that was another plus. Tons of fun stuff within walking distance and there was minor renovations happening inside of the hotel and we heard NONE of it while sleeping.

The location is perfect, it's close to public transport, but within walking distance to the London eye, big ben, etc. The room was clean and cosy, the only thing is that the bathroom had no door. But i didn't mind. Lovely hotel and i hope to come back again

Just visited The Strand Palace for a few nights on s pleasure trip to London, the room was quite small but clean and tidy although tea and coffee making facilities were not replenished after our first night. Location is great but very noisy on the Strand.

My main gripe was that we asked for a cot to be made available when booking but this was not in our room when checked in, it took a further 3 requests over a 5 hour period before it eventually arrived.

Staff were all pleasant especially the doorman who is a credit to the hotel and the reason for 4 stars instead of 3.

Such a lovely hotel.

Such a lovely hotel.

The staff were polite and attentive, and were very helpful when I mentioned the problem with the sink in my room.

The room was very clean, comfortable and cosy with lovely themed decor.

I have booked another stay there for my next trip to London for School of Rock.

My favourite hotel in London so far. Good location, and close to do many attractions.

The location of this hotel is awesome. Its right in Covent Gardens and is a quick walk to many tourist locations. The room was clean (it smelled a lot like bleach when we got in so I know they definitely scrubbed it), bed was comfortable and the price was great. I'd stay here again for sure. As with many hotels in london don't expect a huge room or over the top decor. Its basic but nice and thats really all you need when staying at a hotel, unless you plan to spend a significant amount of your day there. To me this was perfect to come back, shower, sleep, etc.

Extremely helpful and friendly housekeeping staff. Room fit for purpose but lacking attention to detail with cleaning. Lamps not working properly and bearly could hear anything on the phone when calling the concierge. Only one set of towels for a twin room. Very expensive bar. Not sure if I would want to stay again, one night maybe, more than one night, no way.

The first room cold, heating did not work, so the exchange. Instead of a room that could not take a shower when all the waters came to the toilet floor, where there was no floor drain, again to change. These rooms should also have an adapter for their own electrical equipment to be paid separately. The third room just finished the 4 star requirements.
I also left a card with a pen with my friend. The card has still not arrived in Finland, the card has been left 6.4 or the month has passed. So you probably put it in the trash.

For the money, its ok. Rooms are on the small side and a little dated although i believe some are being refurbished, but for the price I can't complain. Breakfast is buffet style with a good choice. Be careful of prices in the gin palace More

The room on the 9th floor was comfortable and quiet. However, I did not appreciate being woken up by the maid twice despite only staying for one night and having a do not disturb sign on the door!

I stayed her back in July of 2011 in the summer. I had always dreamed of going to London so me and my best friend decided to book a trip and my mistake was booking this hotel.
I booked the cheapest room a basic 1 bedroom. The room was extremely uncomfortable NO A/C
it was hot especially in the summer. But one night at around 4-5 am someone opens my door and looks in for a moment then closes it. I immediately the next day called the front desk and they sent the manager and security up to my door. They scanned the door with something and just apologized and didn't give much more information or even inform me who tried coming into my room at 4am-5am all they mentioned was that housekeeping is the only one who has access to our room but it wasn't housekeeping. I was seriously freaked out by this experience especially being 2 young woman visiting a foreign country. I would never stay at this hotel ever again in fear of getting kidnapped and abducted. AVOID THIS PLACE
