Having worked in several long term residential treatment centers I am sympathetic to the over burdened staff who work in such facilities. Having that been said, the staff at this facility is disrespectful, rude and completely unorganized. There are releases of information in place for the counselor to speak with me. My emails go unanswered and information I have requested never gets sent. Furthermore, the client is on probation and I have the probation office calling me stating she cannot get an update from the counselor and has yet to receive confirmation that the client is at Straight & Narrow (they've been there for 2 months now). When I got the counselor and probation officer on a three way to call to sort everything out, I get an attitude from both when I am asked to be cc'd on the email from the counselor to probation. I emailed the counselor again today and cc'd probation, asking for confirmation that everything that was requested has been sent to probation...... crickets. Not a response from either

HOW DOES THE STATE ALLOW THEM TO GET AWAY WITH THIS?
Does anyone realize that newborn children are kept at an this unsafe unsanitary facility? Child Protection services would have a field day with this place if they weren't run by the state. Corruption at its finest the mayor of Paterson was just arrested for corruption please raise awareness so these children do not grow up in an unsafe environment.
Unprofessional staff is rude and corrupt. Simple communication is next to impossible to have I pray the state looks into this place because I know for sure I am not the only one who has had issues with them.

For those who have never been to Paterson or have been once or twice, I go there everyday and am around that area and it is NOT drug everywhere I use drugs and would know so believe me when I say this it is in the most desirable part of Paterson and the best area for a rehab in Paterson, so I would recommend it very good area wise.

I spent 2 months in this place majority of the staff is uncaring ignorant they place u in rooms with woman who are covered in sore with diseases they play favoritism and give extra privileges to who they like the place is dirty rooms are so small 2 people shouldn't be in them they allow sexual relationship between the woman stuck in there by jails and dyfs. They force every patient to go on welfare so they can take all the benefits while the state is already paying them

Paterson location was great staff was pretty good for most part you respect them they ll respect you seacaucus location sucked the staff their is just on one big power trip and rude as hell no one on one counseling provided horrible experience for my first time wish I would ve stayed in Paterson

I was there threatened by another patient. I was told I couldn't used the phone as I missed a meeting. They announce meals and meetings by yelling down the hall. I slept through it due to my meds. While I was addicted, I'm not a child and wanted to talk to my loved one. I checked myself out after 3 days. They told me I won't get any meds or scripts to take with me. I felt very unsafe there. Too many patients for the number of personnel. Got to Discovery Institute you can.

How is this place still open? I was a client in the Mommy and Me program for 6 months. I recieved the worst pre-natal care, i was forced to eat expired food. They force toddlers to stay strapped in strollers all day. The facility should be deemed un-livable. rotting floors, mold, mice, exposed wires, rat traps where the children are kept. DISRESPCTFUL STAFF. My counselor LISA BUSSANICH and her supervisor JASMINE SCOTT falsified documents. No treatment is offered, the schedule they provide DCP&P isnt accurate. They are unprofessional and i almost didnt make it to the hospital when i was in labor. Staff curse and attack clients. not safe for children. THE STATE NEEDS TO SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN

I just completed this program and although I am thankful for the changed I've made I wouldn't recommend this program to ANYONE, especially a pregnant woman or mother trying to be reuinfied there. Not only are the staff ignorant and rude but the place is absolutely disgusting. The showers have mold in them, there's mice that get into your dressers and toddler beds/cribs, they constantly feed you expired food and give out moldy juice, we even found a mushroom growing IN the daycare, where mothers are expected to leave their children. Please, don't ever go there if you have a choice, they WILL break you down and never build you back up.

Terrible. Would not recommend to anyone. Counselors don't return calls. At parent meeting the leader reads off a piece of paper. Patrons have to walk three blocks three times a day for meals. Can easily get drugs. There are mice there. The food is horrible. Place should be shut down. As a parent whose child used while there it took me a month to get my daughters money back. Tried to donate toys to day care, my call was returned a month later. I can't imagine bringing a baby in there

I was a client in Alpha 1 (women's unit) for 10 months from September of 2020-August of 2021. My experience was horrendous. Straight and Narrow is ran by Catholic charities and they don't care about the clients or the program. Ignorant uncaring counselors and management, floor staff cusses clients put on the daily and shows little to no respect for clients well being or privacy. MEDICAL staff is rude and arrogant and dismisses any health concerns you may have. It took 2 months to get a prescription for a bladder infection.. Mold everywhere, MICE all over, always. The food is half rotten. The building itself is in shambles with wires hanging from the ceiling. The actual program offers mandatory groups that aren't unique at all. The same criteria is forced upon you in every group. No therapy. You see a psych doctor once every 2 mo if you're lucky. HORRIBLE PLACE. DONT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES.
