Everything was so delicious!! A friend and I went here and we tried a few different items. The pulled pork fries were so good. A must try! We both had different burgers (the popper and the beer cheese burger) that were just perfect and some onion rings and garlic parmesan fries that were so delicious! Best I've had anywhere. We each had a flight of wine and I must say that the strawberry and honey & peach were my favorites! I will definitely be returning soon with an appetite and more friends. Cannot wait to try more tasty treats! This place is a new favorite!!

Good food, terrible service. Food order wasn't taken until 30 minutes after getting drinks. Salad didn't come out for another 20 minutes. Dinner didn't arrive until we had been there for 65 minutes. She checked on food once about 1 minute after it arrived, never came back to refill drinks. Didn't see waitress again until 20 minutes later with the bill.

Drove up from Grand Rapids to try a new brewery. Don't waste your time . Beer was alright , however the food was terrible and our service was worse. Mentioned that the food we got didn't even half all the ingredient that were listed on the menu. Then I received an attitude about it and they asked if I liked to see the owner. When I said yes I was given an excuse that they were too busy to see me and got a free lecture from the waitress about how my terrible food was made.

My son and I had stopped in while the lunch specials were going on. It took roughly 10 minutes to even be noticed, when they had little to no businesses whatsoever. I had ordered off the "15 minutes or it's free" menu, and my son ordered from the kids menu. The food came out in literally 15 minutes, and although the kids menu suggested homemade root beer, and a free root beer float with purchase of a kids meal, they were "out" of the homemade soda. I wasn't compensated for the fact that no "free" root beer float came with my son's meal, nor given a option to a different desert. The seasonal veggies were just a small round bowl of overcooked peas and onions, and I wasn't offered a refill at any point in time. Ultimately unhappy with the food and service, but the environment is a beautiful place.

Swiss mushroom burger was good, fries were extremely greasy. Service was mediocre at best. Beer was good. You should change your flight presentation. It was hard to identify what beer I was drinking. Seating in the dining room was extremely uncomfortable. Hard seats and benches.

We came in for dinner on a Sunday, place was somewhat empty, we ordered the tots that are supposed to be stuffed with bacon and cheese, they came out with burnt bits on them, and we couldn't find bacon in any of them. Then our nachos were burnt. they did cut the nachos off our bill and made it right.

Waitess had no personality, did not even come around and see how our food was, my husband ordered medium steak and came out well done, my pasta was dry. We got our bill faster than our food. The only good thing was the sangria, and my husband said he would of ordered another beer if the waitess would of came back around.

First stopped into the place on 7 mile . Sat around at table for 10 minutes. No service. So we figured we can give Sparta a shot. They have a brown beer that's real good. The rest of the beers I had were ok. Service was great. Atmosphere was also great. The chairs look cool but not something you want to spend more than an hour in. That's a real issue to me in a bar. Food was ok but the spinach dip was runny. Maybe 3.5 on food. Room for improvement on food but priced accordingly. Cool brewery but not a place to hang out for the long haul with buddies.

Beer and food is very good, the wait staff is pretty bad.. very very slow or they're very under staffed/trained.

UPDATE 08/23/19: We figured we'd give it another try.. same thing.. HORRIBLE service. Waited 10 minutes in the dining room for anyone to acknowledge us.. no luck. One waitress folded silverware the whole time while the other one was struggling. Moved to the bar area, no difference. Great beer and food if you can get it. I dont feel bad for tipping poorly. Still understaffed and undertrained. This is a management issue.

The new location has an amazing atmosphere and that's the only upside right now. I was seated promptly but waited 20 minutes for a waitress to even acknowledge me, was barely offered drink refills during the meal, and my friend's beer was ordered but took 15 minutes to arrive at our table. The evening was not terribly busy so we were not impressed with the service. The classic burgers tasted like pre-made frozen patties as well... The beer selection is good but if you enjoy decent services AND a unique meal, don't expect too much.

It's a pretty decent place, considering its relatively remote location. Food is fair bar food, although the cook could use a salad making class. (Not really bar food. I know, I know...)
Beer is quite good, from the three I tried (Incapacitated IPA, Irish Stout, and a New England IPA whose name escapes me), but don't challenge the bartender. And by, "challenge," I mean, "ask for a mixed drink." The cosmopolitan that was ordered at my table was not at all good and the martini that was ordered turned out to be a vodka and tonic. Good beer. Not so much for the bartender.
Despite that, a fine time was had. All in all, pretty good for an 'upscale' joint in Sparta, Mi!

I really like the beer here. In my opinion it's better than the other local breweries. (Rockford Brewing and Perrin Brewing) The prices are reasonable and they roundly have something going on every day. As of this review they are still doing construction on a new location. I give four stars because the food here is pretty basic (hotdog's and chips mostly). The new location will have a full restaraunt.

My best friend and I decided to try this place out as she is new the the area and I am not from around here. It was a slow Monday night with a ton of tables open. They were doing trivia in the dining room so we decided to sit in the bar area. At first we chose a high top table right behind the bar. The waitress informed us she cannot serve us drinks if we sit there we had to go up and order at the bar ourselves. Also if we chose to sit at the high top table we couldn t order from the full food menu we could only choose from a small menu of appetizers even though the place was dead. After moving to the bar so we could receive full service, our service was below average at best. The waitress asked how food was a few minutes after it came out but never checked on us again to refill drinks or anything. I would have liked to order another drink but never had the chance to do so. After she didn t come back and check on us we literally had to flag her down to get our bills. Food wasn t the greatest and the one cider I got to try wasn t the greatest either. Not sure we will be back!

The beer wasn't bad but the food and service wasn't great. The chicken was overcooked and my poor boyfriend got fries poured on him when we were being served. The server brought an extra serving of fries but we were still stuck at the table with fries scattered around. The chicken also half fell off the plate when the fries got spilled while being served but we weren't offered just a fresh order. Instead my boyfriend pushed the chicken back on the plate. It wasn't a great first experience but we'd like to try it again once everyone is used to the new place and food menu.

They have quite a delicious selection of apps and entree's but no decent desserts and they got rid of the creme brulee. Their beer is pretty good and their Apple pie moonshine is a must have.

After waiting about 45 minutes, our food came out...my Mac n cheese had clearly been sitting under the heating lamp for quite sometime, it was dry, flavorless and stiff. My boyfriends salmon was okay but his parm/garlic fries were cold and soggy with very little seasoning. Our side salads were drenched in dressing and soggy as well. Nothing was done to compensate for our poor food quality. Overall horrible food.

Our waitress was nice though.

Stopped in for my first time last week. Nice ambience, and friendly staff. The craft beers were priced accordingly with other breweries in west Michigan. The wings were good, but I would not give them top 10 rated in Michigan. The only reason for 1 star lost is the wait, the staff needs to move a little faster, and pay better attention to the clientele.

They make they're own vodka. Doesn't taste like vodka at all but very smooth. Even the whiskey was smooth. Food, meh... Mine anyways. My SO said he liked his sandwich. But nice atmosphere, clean.

Decided to check this place out because the city of Sparta had so generously given us coupons. Brought along my sister's family. We love finding new breweries to frequent. We were seated at a filthy table with a bench we had to wipe off ourselves because it was covered in food. While we were there another table asked to be seated elsewhere because they waited so long for service. The manager was horrible. She traded lifetime customers for her confusing coupon statements. Poor management. It's too bad because the cider was good. The food was ok-ish. We would have gone back. But I wont give my business to anyone with poor customer service/ business ethic.

The beer here is decent - it was definitely hit or miss. A few beers we really didn't care for - just plain no flavor. But there were a few that we thought were pretty good. We ordered 2 flights in order to try multiple beers which is what we like to do.
The service was good - the bartender for the night was the GM, so you know he's going to provide good service. It was pretty darn dead in there. They have a huge space, and not a lot going on, especially for a Saturday night. Cool view - they have beer vats right in the middle of the restaurant, and the bar is set up pretty cool. Very large bar. There were TV's above the bar, but they weren't on. The food menu looked okay, and the food that we saw come out, looked decent as well, but we did not eat there. Nice to check the place out, though.

Food was good, but the noise level inside wasn't pleasant. It was only about half capacity and we still had to yell to have a conversation. Same issue at Cedar Brewing. Maybe it's a new trend?

Great food great service! Double IPA and the cherry cider were great! I sampled the tootsie roll brown but didn't like it. Had the chicken "wich"...awesome! Can come both wrapped or on sourdough, it was great. Rebecca was our server. Coming Back!

Black Magic, Was pretty fond of that one! Not much else impressed me. Nothing negative to say, and of course this is all opinion so what is the point there. BUT, the pulled pork (touch of heat) was Very Very tasty. Nachos were a bit greasy and nothing special. I asked for HOT salsa, got mild. OOps!

Appeal, was clean and seemed more like a focus as a restaurant than a bar to me. Too dark though, had a hard time reading the menu. When walking in from outside, took some time for my eyes to adjust also. A little more light would go a long ways.

Service? They had that? Not a strong suit here. In fact, had to hunt people down to get served, food and drink alike. If they were busy, I could understand it. But the place was pretty empty when I was there with a friend and we still had to get up to get service. For that reason alone, I doubt I will ever go back.

Huge upgrade from the old place! The beer? Much much improved! The food? My burger was cooked perfect the wife s samich? perfect! Our server? Amazing! If you aren t taking advantage of the great beer, awesome staff, and live music then you re missing out. This is the place Sparta has been missing. Enjoy!

Name has changed to Brick Haus, and they are not yet open for business as far as I can tell. Walked in the door, but it's clearly under remodel. I drove out of my way while traveling because Cellar came up in suggestions only to find that it is no longer Cellar and not quite open yet as Brick Haus.

I have been to Cellar several times over the past couple years and the experiences have one consistent undertone. Blah. Most of the servers have no energy or people skills. No smiles or happiness to do their jobs. Today we were served by a young girl that has been there for a while and she should not be in the service industry. I have had her serve us at the bar and at tables. I dreaded the upcoming experience. We were the only customers when we arrived when you would expect a place to be busy. Service was delayed as the staff ate their lunch and texted while sitting at the bar well after taking our order. Our food arrived overcooked and cold.
I am done after several poor experiences. Sorry to bother you at work with our order, sweetie.

Meh.. Beer was Good, they did a nice job on the inside, the onion rings are over priced considering they were just pulled out of a bag and thrown in a fryer, service definitely needs to be improved it was garbage at best.

I've liked the beer here for quite some time. However, I took my visiting family from out of town in for food a couple weeks ago. For what I paid for my burger, I don't think it should have been in the form of a baseball on my bun? It was terribly overcooked and didn't resemble a burger much at all. My son had the flatbread and that was enjoyable! Glad he shared with me.

Nice environment. Burgers were decent, but their coleslaw was disgusting but the coleslaw is better than the service. Waitress looked at her tablet the entire time she was at our table, only looked at us when she asked how we were splitting the bill.

Not worth going to for the food.

I love this place! Close to home and good food. Love the burgers for sure. The only tiny complaint that I have is i would like to see more consistency in the quality. Sometimes it's amazing and then the same stuff is ok. For the most part it's damn good though.
