I purchase a Premium Subaru Forester 2015 on 2 October 2014 from Stohlman's and was assisted by an efficient and knowledgeable salesman - Mr. Thomas Calvert.

Mr. Calvert was not only detail oriented but was also patient during the car selling process. He was thorough when explaining the new Forester's features, and during the insurance and lengthy finance process which involved much detail (He also took the time to explained the benefits in purchasing the additional insurance for 60,000 miles; one which I now plan to acquire.) More important however, Mr. Calvert did not loose interest even after the transaction was completed, the new car was already in my possess, and when I still needed his assistance. He responded quickly to my phone calls, and provided the additional item I requested. Thank you again Mr. Calvert! Katherine B. Keikuatov

So, I have been searching for my car for months now. Most dealerships were trying to have me pay a crazy amount per month for my SUV. My sales person at this location Sam was generous, not pushy, honest and got me the best deal I could get. I appreciate his patience and warm customer service. Ask for Sam Estaniss when you come in to get your new car!

Car buying is not easy. Takes work, takes patience, takes thinking, takes math. After spending over 3 hours and driving away with exactly the car we wanted, I still have to say it takes work, but it was truly pleasant work. To the person, everybody at Stohlman was really there to help and to educate. We left satisfied that we felt good about the entire process.

We purchased 2 cars from this specific dealership both in a 2 weeks time frame. A 2016 certified Jetta sport for my brother and a 2018 Passat SE w/ Technology Package! I couldn't be more satisfied with the EASY PROCESS, KNOWLEDGEABLE SALES CONSULTANT, Who Never EVER pushed for even a small part of sale and anything else!
Tabish was my sales Consultant and Nehad was the Finance Manager whi handled the deal and what's beneficial regarding the warranties and the terms. They both patiently, carefully, and constantly were there for us to make sure of each step and WHAT'S BEST FOR US!

Definitely I recommend you these 2 people, Tabish, The Sales Consultant, and Nehad, The Finance Manager!

Do not go there! Worst place ever! I bought a used 2006 Jetta from there and got it inspected in MD a week after and find out they sold me a car that has all of the wheel bearings that need to be replaced. When they sold it to me they told me it was in great condition and nothing is wrong with it. It costs over $1400 to get those parts replaced! They took no responsibly and said it wasn't there problem!

Tried to bill me for $825 of service that was NOT needed! Attention GM or SERVICE MANAGER: my invoice number is VWCS471220 - call me if you want to make this right.

I took in my 2013 VW because the trans was shifting very rough on cold mornings. The service writer told me that they observed the problem but they would not fix it under the bumper-to-bumper warranty because the trans was filled with the wrong fluid. The service writer also told me that the the trans pan drain plug was stripped. They wanted $825 to flush out the old fluid and do a regular trans service (filter, gasket, etc) and also to install a new oil pan and plug. When I asked about the stripped plug, the service writer did not know whether the threads were stripped or the fastener hole was stripped.

Being a car guy, I put the car up on a lift and took a look myself. I drained the fluid and it was the correct fluid... though quite burnt/worn out. My buddy helped me perform a fluid change and routine trans service and the car is now back to normal. The trans plug had been tampered with, but because of the design, it is totally inconsequential. Even if the plug is removed, there is stem in the pan that prevents fluid from coming out. Also, the trans pan was 100% fine.

The bottom line: They tried to bill me for $825 of stuff that I did not need, including a fluid change that should have been covered under the bumper-to-bumper warranty. Service tech ignorance was probably passed on to the service writer, who then passed it on to me without fully understanding the problem.

On the plus side, the service writer was friendly and gave me some information on what kind of trans my car had so I could buy a $135 DIY trans service kit. They also replaced discolored dashboard A/C vents under warranty and performed a recall inspection on the rear suspension.

Again, if someone at VW wants to make this right, my contact info can be found through the above Stohlman service invoice number. The sad part is that most people probably do whatever the service tech says the car needs, whether it actually needs it or not. Sad for the consumer, probably not so sad for the dealership...

Alan Soon made the car buying experience much less stressful than expected. He is very straightforward, honest, and pressure free. He approached our interaction with the perspective of what would be the best decision for me and was very helpful throughout the process. He was clearly putting in a lot of effort to help me, and clearly wanted to help guide and assist me to the purchase that would be best for me - even if that meant not buying. He is the dealer you would hope for when looking to buy a car, highly recommend.

David Jennings made this car buying experience stress free and enjoyable! My wife and I already decided to get a new Subaru Forester so it was just a matter of picking a dealership. We did a true car reports and were then contacted by multiple dealerships. Not only was David able to find the specific model and color we were looking for, but it also included all the features we wanted, which was fantastic. He worked with us almost his entire shift to make sure that we left with exactly what We wanted. He also took time to show us the ins and outs of our new vehicle. I would wholeheartedly recommend David to anyone looking at buying a Subaru; not only is he knowledgeable but he made the entire car buying experience fun.

"Phenominal Customer Service"

Javan is incredible! I have purchased three cars from him, and every time he has provided a seemless, enjoyable experience. He takes the time to get to know you and your needs, and helps you get into the car that fits your lifestyle perfectly. I highly recommend visiting Javan to purchase your next VW. Every step from test driving to running numbers to financing was seamless. He helped me understand all of it, I couldn't be more thankful for him! His sales manager Kenny was great, and Mr. Wally in finance got me in my car with a short turnaround. Thank you Javan!!

I went in to get my cars oil change at this location and they were happy to take care of the fuel filter which needed to be replaced. Which I am happy that they did it. But the the hard thing is that I am always reluctant to go to dealerships because they find issues and to replace my brake pads just they quoted my almost 1000.00 dollars. As well to replace my tires for almost 800. Why are dealership so expensive sometimes?

For me shopping is tiring- including online, so after searching for about two weeks for a reasonably priced vehicle I came across my 2012 VW Passat TDI SE. I am new to VW brand and without the generous assistance of Gerry Moore I would have never joined. Shout out to my man Gerry! From the onset, when I called to inquire I was welcomed with respect and invaluable customer care, this meant a great deal to me with everything we are facing as a nation during this pandemic. I was able to secure a good price and added a six year bumper-to-bumper while staying within the confines of my loan. I financed through my credit union and am unable to speak of their financing options. With the service I received I would recommend them to anyone in search of purchasing- either new or used. I worked for a dealership some time ago and know some of the underhanded things people do to make a sell. This team of people were very transparent and were readily willing to answer my hundreds of questions- that speaks volumes, and validates their integrity. I will add this, their bathrooms are exceptionally clean- this also speaks volumes. Thanks Gerry! Thanks Stohlman!

Making an online reservation means nothing. I dropped off a VW for a 1045 appointment and was told it would be ready in 2-3 hours. No problem because they offer free shuttle service to Tysons Corner Mall. I returned from the mall 4.5 hours later and was told the car would be ready in 30-45 minutes. 45 minutes later, still not ready. Altogether, nearly 6 hours for a scheduled oil change.

Not your average dealer experience--Way better! Buying a car is usually frustrating and uncomfortable, but Edson Mejia Jimenez made it a breeze and treated me like a person, not just like the next sale. He and manager Bill Brayer weren't pushy, but still confident and straightforward, plus Bill had a good sense of humor for a sales manager :) . I bought my GTI here because Edson made it an experience, not just a sale. Other dealerships could learn from Stohlman. Thanks guys!

Just had service done at VW Stohlman and wanted to say that my service advisor, Jack Smith, was exceptional. Jack was very knowledgeable about my nuanced check engine light issue and really put my mind at ease, as I had a bad experience with a third party shop the week prior. Jack advised I desperately needed pads and rotors, which I was aware of, and had initially rejected their offer to do them, but figured it had to be done anyway and went ahead. I paid 40-50 dollars less because I was given a discount, and I found out that not only was the check engine light issue under warranty itself, but so was the diagnostic. I paid much less than I would have at VA tire. Everything is back to normal and it didn't hit me nearly as bad as I thought it would. The whole experience was assuring and I will certainly be returning there from now on.

Stolhman is among the oldest and most trusted VW dealers in the area. If they were doing shady business they wouldn't have been around as long as they have. I remember going there 17 years ago with my last Jetta and now that I have a new one (although I didn't buy it here) reminds me that the service is top notch. The Service Techs are always there to answer questions you might have about your car. All in all one of the most trusted dealers in all the DMV.

Overall happy with our experience at Stohlman VW. Went to check out their used inventory and was impressed with their selection of quality Certified Pre-Owned vehicles. Although they were slow to get a salesman for us, once we got Sam all things fell into place. Sam is honest, personable, and not a pressure sales guy. Highly recommended. Stohlman is the place to go, Sam is the guy to see!

This was my first time ever buying a car and becau...

This was my first time ever buying a car and because of this had some pre-conceived fears and reservations about interacting with dealerships. My experience at Stohlman debunked every fear/reservation I had very quickly, due primarily to my experience working with Tom Ryan, Trent Norris and Sam Kasraie. I had a great time working with these folks and would strongly recommend this dealership to anybody purchasing a vehicle. In short, I was very impressed with every aspect of the car buying process.

Tom Ryan was the sales person I worked with, and he left me feeling very confident in my decision to move forward with the 2016 Passat R-Line. During the sales process, I experienced virtually zero pressure from Tom; I feel that I was treated with significant respect during each of my four visits and could not have asked for a more painless car-buying experience. Additionally, communications from Tom were well-timed and non-intrusive. After my first interaction with Tom, it was clear to me that he would be a trusted adviser throughout the entire process.

When it came to sourcing the car I wanted, Trent was exceptional in this regard. Because I had very specific demands for the color, packages and timing of receiving the car, I was worried about receiving the correct vehicle. Trent went above and beyond to get me the car I wanted, and in the end was able to source the vehicle from North Carolina. The dealership was able to turn around this request very quickly, which I was impressed with given the requirements I had listed for the vehicle.

My experience with the Finance team at Stohlman was perfectly consistent with the high degree of moral fiber and respect demonstrated by the other lines of business at the dealership. Reflecting on my interactions with Sam, he created a very comfortable and honest atmosphere for a traditionally challenging element of the sales process. Sam was not only patient and respectful of my financial concerns , but he took significant measures to ensure I knew exactly what I was purchasing. He was diligent in addressing all financial aspects, from the extended warranty to the monthly payment amount.

I would strongly recommend Stohlman Volkswagen to anybody who is purchasing a vehicle.

I wanted to wait till I made a decision on the car...

I wanted to wait till I made a decision on the car I would buy before leaving this review. I highly recommend working with TJ if you plan on purchasing a new or used car. He will work and be in your side during the time of negotiation. On the other hand, I recommend being wary about one of the Pre-Owned Sales Managers: Kelvin Irizarry. I would have left a 5 star review even though I didn t buy a car from this dealership, however Kelvin completely killed that with his games/story telling.

I came by Stohlman VW on October 12th around 8:30pm around the time they close. I met with TJ and had a great experience test driving a 2016 Civic Ex and learning about the car. My biggest concern from the get go was the amount of miles and I let TJ know from the beginning that I would be comparing cars. He did not hesitate when he recommended that I take the car for the night and get it inspected. After I agreed, he went to get approval from Kelvin his manager.

Kelvin comes back and tells a great story and explains to me why I can t take the car to get it inspected. If I could star Kelvin for a role in a movie as a Used Car Salesman, I would. He had the classic hard handshake and did not miss an opportunity to project his voice.

My biggest pet peeve is being lied to or being treated like a fool and Kelvin did both. He wanted me to believe that the car I looked at was in the process of a deal that night and that the lady that was sitting right behind us earlier had to have a credit approval before they would let her take the car.

An ordinary person may have believed Kelvin but one thing I kept from the dealership is that I am also I Sales. And I know a made up story on the spot when I hear one. If it is too good to be true, it is too good to be true.

Kelvin could have simply explained that he did not trust me, or I came in late and he did not feel comfortable letting me take the car. Too bad for him I was ready to pay in cash.

Once again my experience was not completely negative and TJ did a great job accommodating my needs and answering all my questions. 5 stars for you TJ great follow up as always!

On Thursday, July 14th, a careless driver ran a red light and totaled my beloved VW Golf. Mercifully, no one was injured, but I still had the daunting challenge of finding a new car in a very short period of time. I really wanted another Golf and I had some very specific preferences, including manual transmission and a black exterior. I searched and searched, but to no avail. Then like magic, I found Alan Soon at Stohlman VW in Vienna, Virginia. I told Alan what I wanted, and he spent an entire day calling every VW dealership in the country to find it for me He was unbelievably helpful, kind, patient, funny, reassuring, and most of all, HONEST. Within 3 days, I had exactly the car I wanted, and at a phenomenally good price, too! I have never had such a positive experience with a car dealership or a salesman in the 40 years I ve been driving. I would very highly recommend Stohlman VW and Alan Soon to anyone who needs or wants a positive experience in purchasing a new car.

My wife and I went to this dealership to buy a new car and we had a poor experience with the sales manager. He was very rude and did not act like he cared for our business. After reaching out to the vice president and general manager, I received no response. I would not recommend coming to this dealership for anything instead go to Sheehy of Springfield or somewhere similar.

Hands down the experience I ve had in car buying. Originally came here to help my sister find an Alltrack and I ended up having some questions about the Tiguans on the lot. I had no expectation of buying a VW for myself when I arrived (was in the market for an Audi Q5). The entire staff at Stohlman from Christian, the salesman that helped me, to the finance manager, Hamid, everyone was respectful and fully transparent about the cars, prices, financing options, etc.

I never thought buying a car at a dealer could be anything but miserable, but the people here proved me wrong in that respect. The next time a family member or friend needs a new car I m sending them to Stohlman.

Just bought a 2013 Subaru Forester from Stohlman. Overall very happy with the purchase and experience!
I worked with Mike Sepulveda (in the preowned side of the building) for the car/price stuff, and Hesham for the paperwork and other 'goodies.'
I had already test driven a few Foresters to get an idea of what I wanted. After extensive shopping around in the DC area for a couple months, I checked out Stohlman's website late one night and saw a few new-ish (demo/loaner) Foresters, priced VERY competitively, and had my mind pretty much made up that I was going to go get one the next day. The following morning, I called the dealership and spoke to Mike on the phone. He answered all of my questions, seemed enthusiastic (not pushy- enthusiastic meaning, happy to help me out and answer all of my questions on the phone without being in a rush). I headed over there for the test drive, and again, no pressure at all from anyone (maybe they had a sense I had already made my decision... ha ha). Everyone was totally straightforward with me, gave me a ton of information about my car's trade-in value and WHY they priced it the way they did-- which was great to know and, honestly, made my decision easier since it was obvious my car was going to need a lot of repairs soon... which I sort of knew. They just let me know *exactly* which repairs they would be and why my trade-in car was acting/sounding the way it was, etc.

Then, Hesham did his thing, broke down all the warranties and extra stuff that I know the dealership is obligated to do. Normally I would have dismissed all of it, but I decided to ask for breakdowns of everything.... *EVERYTHING*. And he was very patient, giving me all of the numbers I asked for, sometimes having to go and look things up, but in the end it benefited him because I did end up purchasing the maintenance plan and extended warranty (with a $0 deductible), too. On the surface those things may seem like "Ugh, they're just trying to scam me out of more money!" But if you have the time and aren't already sick of hanging around, ask for details- it may not be a sensible option for everyone, but on this car, it made sense to me (and my husband).

So early this year I took my 2016 VW Beetle Conver...

So early this year I took my 2016 VW Beetle Convertable in for an oil change and multi point inspection. Stohlman said it would be 30 mins, it was 1 hour 20 minutes. I let that go and paid the $79.70. The only thing they mentioned in the checkout was a couple missing plastic push pins on the under skirt. Twice this summer I got stranded for 15-20 minutes because the car went dead, only to start up fine later. I took it in the Fitzgerald VW in Frederick MD, to diagnose the problem as it was under warranty still. This second VW dealer told me that the battery terminal was loose. How did it pass Stohlman's QC to cost me over $100 at another dealer? (VW would not cover this under warranty, even though it was their battery and assembly) Part of buying a car under warranty is the piece of mind that service is covered. Part of taking a car to a dealership is believing they are the experts of that car. Stohlman's pencil whipping their inspection process shows they lack the attention to detail (which cost me money) and VW's accountability of dealers, like the faking info on the diesel engines shows it's only about the money.
Conclusion: Find a different dealer for service, one that stands behind their work. Find a different manufacturer, one that stands behind their products.

Sales is great, finance is terrible and doesn t check their numbers (and took half an hour for us to correct them, but would have resulted in us paying an extra $4k for the car), and service is wonderful in person. However, they don t offer loaners unless you were affected by DieselGate, which is annoying, and it takes repeated visits for the service department to actually investigate noises you report to them if you re under warranty.

I worked with Alan Soon over the course of several weeks trying to track down a rare VW Golf. At the same time, I also engaged with another local dealer in the hopes of finding this car. I can state unequivocally that Alan Soon was the best salesperson I have dealt with. He is incredibly responsive, professional, and goes above and beyond as evidenced by his constant searching of local and national inventories. Ultimately, I wound up purchasing the car from a dealer that had the car I was looking for in another state, but I wish I could have given Alan the business; he certainly earned my trust. I do plan on using Stohlman for my servicing needs. In a day and age where the true meaning of customer service seems to be in peril, Alan Soon gives me much hope.

First off, I want to say how happy I am with my 2021 VW Atlas. Secondly, in all my years of purchasing cars I've experienced highs and lows in the car buying world. I'm happy to say that Christian Corrales provided the best sales experience I've ever had. Not only did he get me the best deal, but he devoted time and effort to me that I would say all sales consultants should model after. I'm so pleased that I'm telling my friends to only deal with Christian. I could not be happier with my choice in car and blessed by the fact that I was matched up with Christian. He deserves some recognition for his work for sure.

Boy do these people not take no for an answer. The reviews that say there is "no pressure to buy" are definitely not true.

Recently, I came here to check out a used Subaru that I found online. The appointment process was easy, which was appreciated. I went on the test drive. I was familiar with some features of the Subaru, but it had been a while since I went to a Subaru dealership so I was hoping that someone could explain them to me on the test drive. I asked a lot of questions during the drive like "what do these buttons do" and "how do you activate this," but I could tell he wasn't familiar and couldn't answer my questions fully. It's a Volkswagen dealership so I can't blame them for not being Subaru experts - but I just wanted to note this for anybody coming here.

Finished the test drive, went back inside to talk pricing, etc. FYI not all of the salespeople have closed offices, so my family and I sat at a desk in the open area of the dealership which I didn't feel comfortable with since we kept negotiating the price and everyone could hear our conversations.

The problem with the people here is that once they sell you the car, they are DONE WITH YOU. They don't go the extra mile to make sure their customers are satisfied. All they care about is the price WHICH I understand because this is their job - but also I am in my 20s. This is my first car and a huge purchase. I have never shelled out $20 some thousand on anything in my life so I m sorry if I wasnt ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN on the spot. The entire negotiation process was me politely saying, "this is my budget, I really didn't want to go any higher than x," and being told "well your budget is really too low to be looking for a car like this." RUDE and unprofessional! Then they tried to sell me other cars that were apparently in my budget that I didn't even want. I said multiple times that if they're unable to meet my budget at this time for this car, then it is perfectly OK and I can leave and come back when I have enough saved up. I literally got up, had my jacket, thanked him for his time and information, and these people WOULD NOT let me walk out the door. Let me be clear - PLEASE RESPECT YOUR CUSTOMERS! If they tell you respectfully that they will need to take some more time, THAT IS WHAT THEY MEAN. He says, "why do you need more time? You like the car right? Well I really don't understand what you need more time for," with a straight pissed off face. Look, I understand the hustle (I have worked in customer service and held down two simultaneous jobs all through college). Maybe I needed to think about this biggest purchase of my entire life?!

At the end he pulled his manager over because I guess I was being a "difficult customer" to try to make a deal with me. The manager was a little bit more professional than the salesperson and at least kept his smile on the entire time. Ultimately I purchased a car that was slightly above my budget but I felt was a reasonable enough deal and at this point I had been at the dealership for HOURS and was ready to be done.

Here comes the apathy. I noticed a small paint chip on the car which I asked politely if they could fix. No. I was told that the paint shop was closed and he wouldn't even be to get his hands on a bottle and that I would need to go purchase my own $10 touch up paint. I approached the manager I just worked with - once I asked his smile immediately faded and I was told that this was not included in the deal. He put on a straight face and told me that he would have to talk to the other salesperson because "he is more familiar with the car." FYI other dealerships DO fix all paint problems and allow their customers to return. Once I made the deal I had been literally TOSSED TO THE CURB.

Though I have my new car, I hope I never have to return to work with the same people again. I would not recommend coming here for anyone interested in purchasing a used car. If you are looking for a professional team who will actually provide some quality customer service, do not come here.
