IMAX is kinda hit or miss I think, with most people quite happy to see the 'regular' releases of movies on screen. It is very impressive and immersive, I have watched Bladerunner 2047 again at home, and I must say the trip to IMAX was worth it. Not being acquainted with the mall, it does take some time to explore. Which wasn't as bad as I expected. Seating in the cinema was super comfy, if you have saved yourself a pair of 3D glasses, take them along. When do we get a 4D experience Ster-Kinekor? I kid. I really don't want to be sprayed with water during a movie.

The staff are unfriendly, refuse to help and act as if you were doing them a favour. When you ask for a manager there is never someone avalible. And this on a Tuesday lunch time, so no excuses about being busy.

Always up to date with their movies. They have nice big cinemas with a range of options (3D, 2D, D-box, prestige and imax). Catering for all. The lines are generally quick, and its helpful having self service, and it's great paying for snacks in advance. Comfy chairs with good space and love the couple chairs.

{This review is specifically for the Ster-Kinekor T Mall of Africa}
This Ster-Kinekor is my absolute favourite in Johannesburg. The ticketing system is entirely self-service, though their are service people who eagerly wait to help if you need it. You also order your tickets and your refreshments at the same time, so no need to Swipe your cards twice. The cinemas all have love seats as well. There is a lovely waiting lounge and lifts that take you up to Cinema Prestige, making you feel very VIP. I haven't been to the Imax yet but there is one availalble at the cinema.

This place is so poorly managed. The system they have implemented for queues is so bad that I have missed the start of movies because of lines. Even after arriving 15 minutes or more before the movie starts. The queue for 3d glasses is the same queue as for popcorn and drinks so even if all you need is glasses they make you wait. If you are going to watch any movie that is even slightly popular go somewhere else or come an hour early to get everything you need.

Very well organized and friendly staff.
Sanitation protocols are well in place and good social distancing has been practiced in the cinema.
And plus, who doesn't love an IMAX screen ;)

It's better to pre-book or purchase you tickets online when viewing popular or premier movies, to avoid delays when purchasing tickets or snacks.

It also has an array of self-service ticket terminals where you can pay with credit or debit cards.
