I have always been very impressed by the professionalism and courtesy of the Sheriff's Office. For example, my elderly neighbor recently had a small accident and the Officer went well out of his way to ensure that she was safely home and that somebody would be there to take care of her before leaving the scene.
I was very impressed with STPSO Deputy Matthew Tanner. He was very professional and went out of his way to assist me. I cannot say enough kind words about this officer. May God watch over him and the rest of the hard working men and women of the STPSO.
This is a "good old boy" ran sheriff's department. The have zero integrity or regard for anyone's lives. I'm sure they have a few good ones....but they're few and far between!
Officers do not practice social distancing or even wear masks. I have had two close and scary encounters with this situation. With St. Tammany Parish having the 2nd highest rates of COVID in the state, you would think that the people who are supposed to set a positive influence for this community would do better. As somebody who works in a hospital this is so disappointing and dangerous. Do better, STPO.
Had just left a park on Hwy 59 with my daughter here in Mandeville and as we were driving through West Hwy 22 I noticed there blowing around in the middle of the road was our flag of the USA. The very next second I watch a Sheriff pull out of nowhere, pop on his lights, jump out and grab it up. This man didn't have to step out into traffic to do this, but he did because it was the right thing to do. For that alone, 5 stars today boys. Thank you for your service.
Although I was unfortunately involved in an incident that involved the police, under the circumstances, I had the good fortune of being in Deputy Thomas Arsenaux's custody. I was with him for hours during the absolute worst time of my life and while I'm sure I was not thrilled to have his company at the time, I'm certain he wasn't my biggest fan either as I was not in the best state that night. We talked on the phone months after my incident and had a great conversation. Like countless others I'm sure, he's a great guy who's just doing his job like everyone else. Police officers do not get enough credit for the jobs they do. I have more respect for their profession than ever. There are some really good ones out there, and this is coming from the most unlikely source. I would be glad to meet him under much different circumstances in the future and thank him in person. Thank the next police officer you see because they're out there dealing with a lot of things so everyone else doesn't have to!

Firing a deputy over using a f bomb agaisnt a miserable old woman who is politically connected should tell you enough about Randy Smith..... if thats the case you need to probably fire most of your deputy's because I can guarantee you at some point theyve cussed out a criminal.
I saw this website had 2 stars and I was a little scared to make the phone call, but I did and my experience could not have been better. I called the Civil Dept. to check on service of papers. I spoke with a very helpful, very polite Dty. Buchanan who went over and beyond to help me!!! Anyone needing help in this department should be so lucky to have Dty. Buchanan assist them.
