I go here just twice a year, once for Ash Wednesday, and again for the passion service on Good Friday. Very active parish, lots of music.
I love St. John's because the people are so friendly and the mass choir outs on a beautiful "show."
Awesome. Grow in my faith more than I could ever imagine.
The congregation is an international mix of people from all walks of life. The people are the church.
In addition, through out the years, the choir is a wonderful rejoicing that could only be topped be the choirs in heaven.
Large place. Great for a wedding. Priest is very nice.
Simple but beautiful church with a great community. Was a great church service there.
Wonderful and welcoming place in the heart of East Lansing.
What an amazing place to grow in your faith and relationship in Jesus! The Priest and staff are really awesome! There are really amazing people here that you will meet here that will become your friends forever! St. John's is definitely a place to be as a Catholic college student at Michigan State University or Lansing Community College.
This is a fantastic church especially for students. The priests make the homilys funny and relatable to students. Very upbeat and welcoming parish.
I've lived in Lansing for a couple summers now. I attended St. John's most weekends except when I went to St. Aquinas. I liked St. John's because I am a college student and some of the things they did there were different and interesting. Like the previous reviewer I found the changes to be non-gender specific to be odd. The sermons were also quite general and unspecific on certain topics. For a whole summer I never heard the teachings on abortion, premarital sex, gay marriage, even though some of the readings pointed to a homily on it.
Overall, St. John's is a nice Catholic church with caring priests. If you would like a more conservative church, you might try St. Aquinas Church, which is a short distance from St. Johns
Beautiful city. Beautiful church. Excellent homily. Friendly people!
