The Whim Museum is beautifully preserved as a monument and historical testament to the plantation era on St. Croix. The museum has several preserved buildings, including the Great House, kitchen, outbuildings, windmill, etc. All document the time where slave labor was used in the plantation system during the 17th and 18th centuries. The history of St. Croix itself is also well documented here as a glimpse of life history and present day for visitors and residents to see.
The musical concerts inside the Great House are magnificent!!
The experience was exceptional. The history of the plantation with the education concerning slavery and its impact on the people. The displays and historic references provided me with new information and awareness about slavery. The accommodations by the staff to support a person with a disability was wonderful. Valerie and several staff members were really first class in making our experience educational and positive. The grounds the house and the overall material was well done. I would recommend a visit and I will do it again. Hank Goldberg
