Truly a hidden gem. Great animal experiences, exhibits and playground
Something to do in every season for everyone who has an interest in Wildlife and Nature. We've been to the Raptor Spectacular day in September and the Winter Walk in January. Both were excellent value for money.
Amazing!!! The animal exhibits were clean and well thought out. The mountain lions were my favorite.
The best bit was us watching a garter snake in the wood next to the footpath catching and devouring a frog/toad. The whole process took about 20 minutes and it was fascinating, despite the blood and gore. Thank you, Science Centre.
Took the lake boat tour and our guide was very informative. We learned the history of the lake and residents. Lots of local history and got to see some of the wildlife. They even had blankets for those of us that got cold. This was a wonderful way to see the lake. Laurie was a wonderful tour guide.
This place offers a nice nature walk but was a little bit overpriced.
Such a fun way to spend the afternoon. Cool animals and a nice walking trail. There's a gun play area for kids and picnic tables for lunch.
Great chance to experience the wildlife of the Northeast in a well built, family-oriented educational facility
Great NH Day for Familia!! There's many added Attractions for the kiddos and always interesting things for Adults Aswell
My kids love this place with a passion that is almost unrivalled!
We loved it here. We spent 2 hrs and we didnt even walk the trails! Our 6 year old read every single word on the nature trail! He really enjoyed the bobcat, mountain lion and otters but his favorite was the bears! I wish we had packed a lunch. We only had some water and apples. We would have liked to explore the trails that were open. Just another reason to return!
Great place. Especially for kids, very informative and had a amazing play ground
An excellent hike and common Loon cruise. Bathrooms are plentiful, and learning is hands on!
Squam Lakes is an excellent place for the entire family. Great gift shop. Excellent animal exhibits. Could be an entire day event planned accordingly
Went here with my daughters and it was awesome. I could not believe I had not been there before the animals are beautiful and well cared for.
Wonderful place...great area for seeing migrating birds
Took the Loon tour. Very nice only they didn't tell us about the binoculars aboard which we really could have used. Probably they mentioned it before we got on board.
This place was awesome my 3 year old son loved it we were planning on spending an hour or two here but were here almost 4 hours because of all the amazing activities and everything to see.
I don't think I have missed a single summer of visiting the Science Center in 50 years. My kids are teenagers now and they still like to bring their friends here, walk the trails and see the animals. An amazing way to learn about and appreciate our surroundings.
The foxes and mountain lion were sleeping when we visited, but many of the other animals we saw were active, and it was enjoyable watching them in their habitats. Kids learned a lot, and the people working here were very enthusiastic and pleasant.
Beautiful trails to hike, wonderful natural habitats for the animals! Love to spend time there; it's always so peaceful. Love the Howling Coyote gift shop, too!
Great educational facility. Fun and educational for all ages. Very much enjoyed the sub-canopy boardwalk peppered with stations featuring different animals and ecosystems of the surrounding area. There are educational presentations with live animals as well as an otter exhibit. A few times a week, the otters are fed a "fishsicle" and it is amusing to watch them try and get their snacks. Didn't visit gift shop or go for a cruise. That's the great thing about this place, one can come back again and again and have a different experience. Locals or regular visitors to the region can purchase a membership and come and go. There is a nice picnic area and food during the summer season. It was not busy the day we visited, but I could see it being a lot busier. Educational, interesting AND shady.
Favorite place to go with the kids! We get a membership every year and it s extremely worth it!!! Love all the animals and play areas for kids, let s them be independent enough that moms and dads still feel good about it. I remember going here as a child and I am so thankful my kids get to as well! The trail takes about an hour ish or more depending on how long you spend at each exhibit. The dinosaurs that they have short term are some of the coolest things I ve ever seen. Over all: go here, is amazing!
We found this place driving by. It was a great afternoon and my three year old loved it.
If you're looking for a place where you can have fun, learn, enjoy nature as an adult or a child, Squam Lakes Natural Science Center is a great place to be!
You can also experience Squam Lake by taking one of their cruises. This is a must-do!
If you're in the lakes region of NH and you are able to make it here, be sure to go. You will have a great time.
This is a gem!!! Slightly off the beaten path, it made a great halfway point on a car ride from southern Rhode Island. Our party consisted of grandparents, parents, and two 3 year olds and each age group learned something about animals, nature and our environment on our visit. The hands on exhibits were a hit, particularly the Beaver dam exhibit. The kids even learned while playing in the indoor and outdoor play ground areas. The cheerful staff made us all feel welcomed. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy at the picnic area!
Great value! The kids learned a lot. Just make sure to bring lots of water if it's a hot day. There's no water out on the trail. The Squam Lake boat cruise was well worth it!!
A great experience, so many animals to observe, and the staff and service is excellent, giving you fun facts and giving presentations on different types of animals, such as ospreys, spotted skunks, coyotes, and so much more. If you love wildlife, go here and prepare for a fun and memorable experience!
The exhibits were very well laid out very educational Highly recommend visiting
We went there because the brochures showed pictures of a huge park with animals. We assumed that the animals would be more or less in large open spaces. When we got there, there was a short trail to view animals in tiny enclosures. They were housed in very small cages. For such a large park, they devoted very little space to the very FEW animals that were there. Most of the available land was not utilized for anything. We saw a mountain lion, the poor thing was going crazy in that tiny box it was given. They also had skunks on display, one of which was blind. However, that poor animal was clearly dying and shouldn't have been on display for everyone to gawk at. Overall, a very depressing place that left us disappointed and upset.
Super cool! A ton of local wildlife and so much information on each animal. A beautiful place! The playground is also awesome.
This nature preserve is one or the most important places in the State, or the country. Inventive, entertaining exhibits are sprinkled liberally in between live wild animals (all rescues that would otherwise die or fair poorly). Plenty of playground installations for the Rugrats to wear themselves out on. Every parent who can must take their children as often as possible so that the messages about nature and the environment have a chance to get across and be heard and understood. There are dozens of nature and wildlife live presentations every week. This is truly a national treasure.
Lots to do and see for kids of all ages. The grounds and buildings are clean. There is a picnic area with a snack bar. Just a nice place to spend the day.
A wonderful place for adults and children alike. A good variety of live local wildlife, science and nature exhibits, a large play area, and a variety of ecosystems. Shows and demos several times a day are very informative and entertaining.
