Update: I updated the review from 1 to 3 stars. My wife went back and they exchanged the gloves and skates. They indicated that the poor fit was because my son's feet were different sizes. I'm sure that is true. All of us have that. If Joe wasn't in such a hurry for a commission, I think he would have paid more attention. My wife ended up paying extra for much nicer skates than I would have bought, but I can't really blame them for that.
Ultimately, I will likely be back. To my previous point, I don't think anyone else around has the same selection of used equipment.
I've gone here lots. In my opinion, it's the only show in town for used kids sports equipment, and in my opinion, they know it. I've been there looking for used ski equipment, hockey equipment, bikes etc. for the kids and for myself. I always feel like the prices are a bit of a scam, but for many items, you'll pay at least double for junk at Canadian Tire and even more for good stuff at Sport Chek. Any time I bring stuff in they typically say it's too old and wouldn't give me any credit. Some I can agree with, but other items, I've just kept and given to the local thrift stores in Abbotsford and Aldergrove.
My latest trip might be the last straw for me. I needed almost all new hockey equipment for my son. I was extremely annoyed by the employee that was trying to help me. I told him more than a couple times that I was good and didn't need any help. He obviously works on commission as he was extremely pushy, and wanted to make sure I knew his name was Joe and to tell them at the front desk. In an attempt to get him to leave us alone, I told him that was fine and that I would tell them when I checked out, but we didn't need help. He continued to press on. He tried to sell me some piece of junk kit for $100 that I wouldn't think was worth half that at best. When I told him I didn't want that, he said he didn't have time to keep helping me. I said that was quite fine and we could fend for ourselves, yet he somehow found the time to keep helping us. To make a long story short, I ended up leaving there and getting home with a pair of skates that were too small, and two right handed gloves. I was extremely frustrated about the skates as I had argued with him in the store that they were too small, but my son thought they were cool and Joe insisted that they fit. When we got home and my son wore them around on the carpet in the house, he complained that they were hurting his feet. The two right handed gloves was just the icing on the cake. Now we have to make a special trip back to attempt to exchange both skates and gloves.
