Love this place! Just moved to summit county and already have already spent so much time here because of how awesome this place is. The owner and his daughter are very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend coming here instead of buying new cause 9/10 times the clothing is in almost new condition!
Terrible! The man and woman running this store yell and swear at each other in front of customers. When I asked to get my things back the man told me to go find it myself and pointed me to the basement. They grossly underpriced a pair of skis and as the contract states, they got half so I ended up with close to nothing. When I call and leave a message, no one calls back. They said they sent my check to me since I live out of state and I never received it. When I finally got a hold of someone he told me since the (incorrect) address on file was in Breck, I needed to just come get it and questioned why I couldn't just drive 20 minutes. How ridiculous.
New to skiing. They worked with me for an hour and a half to find boots that fit me and were also in my price range. Very helpful and friendly people
Great selection of gear all ages and prices. Very helpful staff, assisted with buying the right product, knowledgable to very great extent. I highly recommend if you don't wanna buy a 1,000 set up at a retail store.
Was told over the phone I could expect to get a board bindings and BOA boots for under $200 total. $426 later with non BOA boots in hand I headed to the slopes. I regret not going to Play It Again Sports in Aurora which was my original plan until I called Recycled Sports and got the under $200 quote. The staff was nice but mostly useless. I had to drag them over to the snowboard area to ask a few questions.
Great place to find super deals on high-end stuff. The staff is amazing especially Brad Harding who's in charge of the ski's and Boots downstairs. Brad is so knowledgeable it's amazing he will set you up with the gear you need and take amazing care of you along the way! If I could give 10 Stars I would I would highly recommend them to friends and family! If you shop anywhere else for winter gear, do so at your own risk!!
Great store to get gear or sell, especially for fast growing kiddos. Awesome community resource and family run business.
I had a phenomenal experience at Recycle Sports, this store is a bit crowded and staff seemed short, If you can handle waiting a bit during peak hours or going during non peak hours you will receive amazing service. I bought a pair of powder skis and found out that my boots wouldn t fit the bindings, when I went back the next morning they found me a ski with bindings they could remount for my boots. The customer service was very enthusiastic and the guy that mounted bindings and tuned the skis seemed genuinely interested in providing me with a great ski experience. I later did a price check on marketplace and with my skis, binding mount and tune and my price was still $200 less than any marketplace post. I ll definitely be back for my upcoming trips!
If you are looking for old cheap ski gear, it's a decent place to go - but with a little deal searching, you could find way better stuff elsewhere. There are deals to be had here but most of their stuff is either overpriced for what it is or it's new gear for the manufacturer's msrp. Their service isn't great either; the shop guys are loud and rude and really seem like they don't want to help. I asked them about pole baskets without bringing in my current poles and when I walked away because they needed to see my poles and couldn't help me, they talked smack about my question - really unprofessional. The place is musty and looks like an old goodwill, yet they charge ski boutique prices. If you're on vacation and looking for some bad cheap one time use gear or apparel, this could be your place. If you're looking for a good deal on equipment for the season (vail employee), don't bother at all. There are tons of locals and pro deals around on what you really want.
O.M.G. don't do business with. You will regret ever trusting these people. LIARS
We had a great experience here... my wife and daughter found some great shoe/ sandal values. We returned to rent bikes... also a good value. The bikes were well maintained and in excellent working order. The owner was very helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back. Thanks!
I can't speak about the store, but I can tell you one of the things they do. I had a couple of old bikes I wanted to get rid of. They were mostly functioning and I hoped to find someone I could give them to who would fix them up and give them to kids or something. Rebel Sports looked at them and said they would put them in the dumpster. The Frisco fire station told me that the Silverthorne Police Station takes bikes to fix and give to kids at Christmas. On my way to Silverthorne I saw ReCycle so I stopped and asked if they do anything with old bikes. They fix them up, post them online, sell them and give the proceeds to the Breckenridge Mental Health organization. What a great thing to do. I left the bikes with them.
U can definitely find good used gear here, but one of the techs messed up a mount for me last season AND DIDNT TELL ME. I just found out about It from a tech at a shop back home when I took them in to get them remounted. I already bought new sticks so I don t care that much, but that is beyond bogus imo to not even own up to drilling an extra set of holes in my skis. Like I said, can find good gear, I would never have anything I care about worked on at this place again though.
Snagged a like-new Arc teryx gore Tex shell from there at $150 which retails new around $750 so total score! I also have gotten all my skis and board tuned there and the dudes downstairs are always super chill And get stuff done in a timely fashion! Thanks guys!
The owner is a rude grumpy bidder person. I went in looking for a bike for my 4 year old daughter they had pieced together old junk bike for 50 dollars I walked out after asking a question and getting a bidder rude answer. so I went to wal mart and got her a brand new one for 50 dollars. I will never spend a dime in his store. Well today 1-13-18 I had the misfortune of going back to get a cheap set of skis so I can ski with my little one. I bought a set of skis even though I did not want to give them a dime. After inspection the skis at home in light you could see in,they sold me a set of skis with edge damage. I could not see it while in the store but saw it once I got home. The owners are still bitter people with no I repeat no customer service who have no problem selling damaged equipment. The guys down in the tune shop were great though. That will be the last dollar they ever see from me. Hope they get shut down.
The best place in Summit County to stick up on quality, used sporting gear
I always try and stop here when I come to Colorado. Recently bought pre-owned ski pants for a fraction of new MSRP.
Its an ok shop, dont expect any great costomer service here.
Great customer service with quick turn around & lowest prices in summit county
Wow, what a resource to buy/sell quality used sports apparel and equipment! We bought snowshoes to try the sport, but they're plenty good, so no need to replace with new ones! The friendly staff regularly reconditions my daughter's snowboard at a ridiculously reasonable price. Definitely check this place before investing in new equipment, shoes, sports apparel - it's a treasure hunt & super well-stocked!
If you're buying ski boots, get fitted somewhere else before buying them here. I got a pair here and an employee helped fit me for them, and they turned out to be way too big. I have since been to several boot fitters and they all say the boots are way too big for me and I shouldn't be skiing in them at all. In addition, the boots I got (which were new and "marked down" a ton) are actually cheaper on several websites. Maybe you can find some good ski boots here if you already know your size and what you're looking for, but don't expect the staff to help you out with that.
I'm giving 2 stars because they do have a good selection of used gear, but the customer service is lacking. We had a simple question for them after we purchased some gear (we've spent at least $500 at this location last year). We left multiple messages on their voicemail & they have not had the common courtesy to call back even once.
Staff was so helpful in finding a complete set up of ski gear (boots, skiis, poles) all for $200. We took back a pole that broke while skiing, and the staff member let us exchange it for a whole new pair no charge. This place is definitely where you want to go for your mountain needs!
ive never been in this store but just reading the rude comments written to one of the folks that brought in stuff to sell, tells me they are not worthy of my business..grow up ..people have options
Owner gave away our money to someone who claimed to have the same name. They don t even check ID s to pick up money. His response was sorry this doesn t happen a lot . What a joke. DO NOT trust this place with your equipment. Horrible customer service, he didn t even apologize. He said he might be able to give us a few bucks in store credit, as if that would remedy the situation. Extremely frustrated
My experience here was so weird. First of all, there s very little organization and poor signage, so it s not easy to figure out what s going on. So I wanted to ask a one quick question about something that wasn t marked with a price and the only employee who wasn t helping another customer was this one guy working on installing a computer sensor on a bike wheel. I stood next to him for a few moments and politely tried to get his attention. Without looking up from his work, he mumbled if ypu need something to go talk to one of the three other employees. I look around. There s no one else in the shop except for customers at that moment. I then ask who he was talking about? He says I don t know isn t there someone else? If I don t focus on what I m doing I ll never get it done and continued to ignore me. Finally I was able to ask someone else and he said the item I was asking about wasn t for sale. Even though it s right on the floor next to the sign for what it was. And to cap it off, as I m leaving, some other customer walks up tot the water pitcher that s sitting there for people to fill their bottles. One employee yells stop! Don t drink from that i don t know how old the water is in there So to summarize, they are rude, they display used equipment that s not for sale, and they leave old water out that they are afraid might not be good enough to drink. So weird
Completely willing to sell defective and dangerous equipment, and unapologetic about doing so. Check everything thoroughly before trusting that equipment.
Great fixer uppers. We've stopped here a number of times with bicycle problems.
I've never seen more used skis in one place. Prices are very fair. Definitely go here if you need some cheap boards.
If I could put a service rating under 'poor' I would.
BEWARE!!! Don't sell your stuff through them. Their consignment contract gives them full ownership of your stuff if it doesn't sell in a certain period of time. So, they mark it higher than it will sell then when your time runs out they drop the price and sell it. The owner laughed in my face when I tried to collect my consignment sale. After years for buying my ski gear from them I will never go back. Rip-off and very bad business practice.
I was very disappointed today when I went into Recycle Sports. I used to spend a ton of time and money here as a kid. The service used to be amazing and the people the same. Today took all of that away. Having not stepped foot in Recycle Sports in over 10 years it was something I looked forward to on my return to home. Sadly, Kyle (I think was his name) took all respect for this store away. The store wasn't busy at all today. No other customers when I got there. The two employees couldn't take the time to even address our entry, let alone try to sell any merchandise. When I asked about the trade in / consignment program Kyle was less than pleasurable to deal with. His patronizing attitude turned me away from any desires of spending money here. He did say the owner was out of town - hopefully this issue can be addressed quickly.
Small place but everyone is very fast and efficient. great place to pick up some high end ski gear as well.
Great way to make a couple dollars and recycle that gear your kids have grown out of.
Pretty sure if I lived in Frisco I would be in this store every day. Constantly getting new items in and top notch quality at that. Don't mull over a purchase or it may not be there the next time you stop by, just buy it!! Really wish we had this store where I live.
I wanted to get a kids mountain bike for my son for his 10th birthday. Problem is, it's in October when all the sports stores are pulling out the skis and putting away the bikes. I looked in Denver and Summit for two days and couldn't find a single store that had a kids mountain bike, new or used. Unless you were willing to spend $1000. Which is way to much for a kids bike. I finally remembered Recycle and called them. They had two new high-quality name brand bikes for under $300. I couldn't believe it. When I realized I wasn't going to make it there by closing time, they stayed and waited for me. When I was short $30 for the higher end bike they discounted it. My son got a beautiful bike for a great price. I can't thank them enough. I highly recommend.
Hit or miss, but when they have the right stuff for you, it s good.
Lots of used equipment to choose from, saved me tonight. Lost a ski in the woods today, and got an upgraded set for beyond a great deal.
Great store to buy inexpensive used outdoor equipment
I was told they would be sold for one price when I called to ask for my money they said they sold the for a way way lower price than what the price I set for them was. I felt like I was robed in the end and no way to prove other wise. They sold a like new pair of Solomon boa boots that my kid out grew for 35 dollars. Save your time and money and eBay or Craigslist your gear. This place ripped me off, BIG TIME!
Great place for affordable equipment, especially if you are just getting started skiing or boarding and dont want to spend a lot of money
Excellent shop! Great second hand gear for really good prices.
We have brought gear in and found good stuff here for years. They take pretty much everything we brought in from neck warmers to skis to bikes two jackets to rollerblades to snow shoes We really like to support local businesses and we really respect the fact that this family has been around so long in this community, and provides recycled and fair price point gear for locals and visitors alike.
I found my dream board a vintage Terje Haakonsen. I asked the clerk to put it on hold while I picked up my husband from the hospital to show him. I was gone for 20 minutes, and as got I back to the store the board was gone. Someone had seen it behind the counter and the clerk decided to sell it out from under me. I was very bummed and frustrated, my husband's been having medical problems and this would have been an amazing gift. I feel this is incredibly bad business. I wish they would have taken my phone number and I happily would have put a deposit down if they were that eager to sell the board out from under me.
Always find super sweet scores here to prep for the upcoming season! Deals for days, wide selection and very helpful staff. Outdoor ski/snowboard gear. Bike gear in summer.
Buyer beware!!! I had a horrible experience. My opinion of this establishment....close the doors. I am disappointed that rip off artists are able to do business in Frisco. Buyer beware!!!
It's a very nice store. But be careful, most of the time, you can find the same or better deal for a new one. That was my case. A Salomon helmet for $50. I thought it was a great deal, but later on Vail I found it for $48 new.
I have had great luck with Recycled Sports. The owner is very helpful. You have to look for deals. Such as when I bought my son's skis the first time no luck, we went back 2 weeks later and found a great pair of skis.
Extremely helpful and patient. Helped me me decide between two options for a mountain bike.
Local consignment sports store with new items as well. Good selection of new and used skies and boots. Great prices.
Had such a great experience, the tech who worked with me yesterday helped select every piece I was looking for, and provided expert gear knowledge and tips for riding. Happily walked out spending less on a whole set-up than someone might spend on just one piece. Thank you for all of your help!!!
Unbelievable experience here buying used skis and poles. The guys were knowledgeable, helpful, and got me out the door in one hour with my skis remounted, waxed, and tuned up. I got on the mountain that same day and loved what I bought. I never write reviews, but HIGHLY recommend this place.
Great value for 2nd hand ski gear. Boots start at $80. Skis not quite so affordable. Loads of clothes, Poles, boards, accessories too.
A lot of great stuff here, even some new items, at discount prices! I was very impressed by their skis and boots selection!! They also had large numbers of boards and bindings, and several bikes. We will definitely be back!
We had a family reunion in Breckenridge and wanted to rent bicycles for the whole famly (9 of us). They did an excellent job fitting us to bicycles and providing helmets. We had a great ride around Dillon Reservoir. Price to rent was very reasonable and they were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
We used to shop here every year for our annual spring Break ski trip, but no more, I will not be back. The customer service provided by the owner of the store has progressively gotten worse over the years. Not by his staff -- they are fine, it is him that is the problem. Last year, my son needed assistance with finding bindings for his snow board and the owner didn't want to be bothered by us -- he was too busy hanging up several jackets that somebody had brought in. This year, my daughter was trying on jackets and the owner made us feel so awful that it sealed the deal on us never returning to this store. She tried on maybe ten jackets. We carefully hung them back where we found them but didn't zip them up. The owner came right behind us and tore each jacket from where it was hanging and slammed them over the rack and jerked the zipper up with great exaggeration. He was mad. Now I have worked retail for years while in college and straightening, zipping and buttoning is part of the job, not the customer's job. He should be happy we didn't leave the jackets in heaps on the fitting room floor. They were right where we found them, hanging nicely, but without being zipped. An analogy of how he makes his customers feel is like being an invited guest in somebody's home but being made to feel like everything you ask or do is seen as an annoyance by your host. My husband and I are business owners and we cannot fathom how he thinks it is okay to treat his customers so poorly. After this incident, I told my daughter "Let's get out of here." We drove over to Breeze and happily paid $300 for items and services that we could never get at Recycle Sports. The owner needs a careful look in the mirror. Maybe he is taking aggression out in the wrong places, I don't know his story. All I know is that I don't deserve to be treated so horribly and while I have a choice in where I shop, it will not be a place that makes me feel so poorly while I am there, spending my money.
We rented bikes fro the family to ride around Lake Dillon. They sized the bikes and adjusted for each of us. the bikes seemed new and all worked well. The manager gave us a great deal, so we returned and rented bikes to ride from Copper Mtn down to Frisco. Really nice manager took care of us.
Steve and Janet were so helpful getting me into the right pair of ski s! It was my first time skiing and they were able to point me in the right direction. Craig also did a great job fixing up my skis and giving me awesome advice from poles, boots and skis. Great prices and great staff. Highly recommend coming here for all your gear!
Used gear at a great price. I get a lot of my used hockey equipment here and will always walk around shopping for other things that I probably don't need :) Thanks again!
Awesome place! The boys from beantown are very knowledgeable polite and helpful!
Super helpful, friendly staff. Great prices too... Shop local!
Good customer service! We spent there about an hour and the owner was really helpful and didn't mind it was after closing time. We could take our time. They have lots of ski and snowboard stuff for great price.
This place is a great alternative to buying new or renting. It's not amazing, but it fills an option in Summit County if you need various sporting equipment. I've added snowshoeing, X-C skiing to my outdoor activities and enjoyment of Frisco area. I stop in here all the time. If you want used, reasonable ski's you can pickup a pair of 2-4 yr/old skis for the price of a one week rental. They also do quite a business in Snow Boards, Bikes and Winter Clothing. It's fairly clean and organized, but I will say other reviewers are correct, Steve will give you a bit of his mind if you're the slob trying on a dozen coats and leaving them thrown about. (They've had a rough year outside the business). If you are looking for spare parts or an extra pair, look here. They have a fairly new tech downstairs that is very good too. (It's not me, I'm just a biker that's always outfitting a visiting friend.)
