Not only has our business account been screwed up MULTIPLE times, we ve lost thousands of dollars because random services keep getting shut off with no explanation such as our voice mail, our caller ID, our phone was completely off for FOUR DAYS. No explanation. No offers to make it right with us. This is seriously the worst company I ve ever dealt with and if I had the option to go anywhere else, I would.
One of the worst customer service I spoke with in my life. I paid my bill on time every month for the last 2 years. I also paid my bill on time last month electronically. They drag their feet so they can just charge me a late fee. It may be just a couple bucks but wow! An electronic funds transfer is just that. Then they wait 4 days to post it. This way they can charge you more money. Then to top that off they send me a bill one full week after I made the payment and say my bill is still unpaid. I call customer service and she was acting like it was my fault. Again just to try to get more money out of people when it is their mistake.
I was immobilized following a surgery. SMU shut off my internet because they can't take a payment over the phone. They're demanding a reconnect fee plus deposit.
Guys, no one owes you a bonus for your refusal to accept your own payment.
Well!!! After someone whom shall remain nameless and had his mail forwarded then took his name off the account, I had 0 clue when cutoff date was, I called crying not to have my services shut off, a fine example of narcissism 101, Ruth belittled, humiliated, and mocked me then said thank you Sara, goodbye and yesi yelle1d profanity back sobbing my eyes out at how cruel she was just like the estranged being who left me in the lurch like he did to land me on the phone with that awful, god-complex named Ruth!!!
Hopefully her parents didn't name her after the one named in the Bible as she is the WORST example of humanity ever in the history of mankind!!!
If I could give SMU negative stars between this and countless other times I would. Trust me I am NOT alone here!!!

Just moved back here after being gone for 30+ years and still disappointing. My internet goes down every night and yet you want to charge larger city pricing? At least you should have continuous service...its not dial-up!
The general manager of Spencer MU helped me out recently. He went above and beyond to assist me. What a great guy and such a great community.
HOLY METER CHARGES! Like other reviewers, my electric bill has also never been so high and I've lived in several states. The website is also horrible and not user-friendly. I just wanted to log in to pay my internet bill and the only bill I can find is the exorbitant electricity bill. I recently moved here and this is just another awful thing about the town. Funny how the SMU building is one of the few nice things in the entire town.
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE WE HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. my mother passed away in December. none of us siblings live near spencer and work fulltime. we were given a week s notice to upgrade the cable. none of us could get there on a weekday. so we canceled service. we had to return the cable box and remote to receive the $210.00 credit that our mother had originally paid. Since we have trouble getting there within a couple of weeks I was able to return the products. They didn t want to talk to me because they had been working with another sibling. finally accepted my return and said the credit would be applied to her utility bill. after numerous calls and rude customer service people we still haven t received the credit after 4 months of returning the products. Don t understand how this refundable payment can just be kept by them. extremely shady business policies.
