Very poor customer management. We had booked for a treatment for two of us on 6th Feb. At the time of booking we had clarified that this was Waitangi day and reconfirmed if they were open. We were given an appointment for 0915 hrs. When we reached they were closed. Phone was going to answering machine. Their website said that they will open at 10 due to the changed Waitangi day hours. So we waited. No one came. This kind of service is poor. . Someone should have conveyed to us if they were closed. If they had given the appointment by mistake someone should have called us a day in advance and told us. We wasted our time. Got up early to be there. Very dissappointing.

This is by far the best spa I have ever been to. The girls are so welcoming and it really feels like you are in a different world. I was beyond relaxed.. I just wish I could go every day! Go and experience.
I have been visiting Spa Ayurda for some years now. I love the unique experience, the ambience created with candles, buddhas and music. The specially-tailored treatments with specific health benefits are many and are an experience to be had so you too will know how you feel after visiting this worthy spa in Ponsonby. I highly recommend regular treatments if you like all things Ayurvedic and relish the generous amount of warm oils massaged into your precious body. The Ayurvedic products displayed are also of great benefit to health and do take the time to enquire about these and make your choice. I want Auckland to know about this special place called Spa Ayurda
I wanted to treat my special needs brother (Simon) to his first professional massage. I made contact with Spa Ayurda, their phone and email manner were very friendly and professional.
Parking was easy on this busy Ponsonby street, as they offered free parking behind their business.
Walking into their front door, we were met with a blissful flowery aroma, with authentic Indian furnishings, they also have a cool entrance sign.
Simon started off a bit tense, but soon found the massage to be pleasing and relaxing. The young masseuse was genuinely friendly and made Simon and I feel calm and comfortable.
After the massage, we were treated to a delicious herbal tea. The whole ride home Simon kept saying "mmm Nice massage". I was very pleased with the quality of the service, and how happy Simon was. He had the Shirobhyanga head massage and a Neck and Shoulder massage.
My partner and I got a Yogala Couple s Treat voucher for our birthdays and scheduled treatment at Spa Ayurda. On our arrival, we have been asked to fill out two forms which were totally unnecessary as it felt that no one actually read them or referred to what we asked in terms of the treatment.
After drinking up our tea (which was good), we entered the room and got briefed by our masseuses about the treatment itself. However, they informed us that while my partner gets a full treatment (both sides), I'm not to turn on my back as "he's a man and we're women and we're not supposed to turn him over" (!?) which makes zero sense to me as it made us feel uncomfortable and unwanted right from the beginning.
The massage itself was very poor, full with oil and felt more like a rub than a real massage; my partner asked the masseuse to use less oil however, she kept on pouring oil on her and totally ignored her enquiry. Hence, just before we got our shoulder/head massage the masseuses left the room to bring us water which has taken them more than 5min. Maybe we're fussy but it's a weird feeling laying there for more than 5min not knowing what s happening out there or if the treatment is over. Btw, you can bring the water beforehand and save the hassle of going ghost on patients.
The place itself is beautiful and the receptionist is super kind but I think in terms of value for money this place is extremely expensive for the quality expected and a bit misleading
A MUST MUST go to place in Auckland - Try the moksha massage and grab a shanti oil bottle - it is great for those days or nights when the world seems to rough! Smell it and apply it on specific points on body (the spa has info on it) and see the magic work ****Highly recommended**** I forgot there was a world outside once I entered into this blissful place of relaxation
Beautiful calm and serene spa with friendly staff. It really feels like you step into a haven once you step off Ponsonby Rd. The free parking at the back of the villa is a plus. I am 39 weeks pregnant and have been having weekly massages at various other places prior to this, so my expectations were very high coming to an upscale and award winning spa. I had the pregnancy massage and was a little perplexed they didn't offer any pillow or towel for my bump and legs to be supported. The positioning of the legs was completely different from anywhere I've had before and slightly awkward. The massage was ok. It was far too light for my liking (I usually ask the therapist to adjust pressure if not correct) but I wanted to experience the massage as they deliver it so I didn't say anything. I also expected her to ask about the pressure etc. Maybe I am not 100% up with the Ayurda benefits, but I just felt as if I had 2 litres of oil lightly rubbed into my body and body didn't feel particular massaged compared to other spas I attend. Once complete, the therapist then left the room for 6 minutes with no explanation (I was a bit disappointed as that is 6 mins of expensive massage time that was not utilised). This is just my experience and I was just expecting a higher quality and more specific pregnancy massage from such a luxurious spa. The spa is definitely extremely clean, tidy and spacious and the cup of tea and almonds at the completion is a nice way to finish.
I visited as I heard that they had won a Luxury Day Spa award. From the moment I entered the spa I was warmly welcomed by the staff and felt a huge sense of relaxation and calmness. I had the Moksha Spa treatment, it was a luxury experience with warm massage oil all over the body. My therapist used multiple rhythmic massage strokes to calm and stimulate the body, and explained that it was to unblock stagnant energy.
It was a lovely beauty Ayurvedic spa treatment, and it was finished off with approximately 10 minutes in the steam box to open up the pores and let the oil sink in, and made me feel amazing, relaxed and refreshed.
I even bought a range of the products perfect for my skin based on their skin analysis prior to the treatment and have tried them for a few weeks now and I truly love them. My skin feels smoother, calmer and more subtle.
I've booked in again next month for another relaxing spa treatment and have also included some small add-ons at the same time too, for some tinting & waxing. I'm looking forward to it.
By far the best place I have been to for a head massage. Customer care is top notch, welcoming and the team they served at the end really finished off the session nicely. The place is up market, clean and very calming. Probably one of the best things that has nothing to do with massage is the fact that they have free off street parking in Ponsonby. It's the only place I have rebooked with on the spot. You don't know me but that is the highest of recommendations.
Fantastic ambience. Enjoyed the mantras playing in reception. The Abhyanga massage took away all my blockages and freed me up. Blissful. I was given tea to balance an overactive dosha. Highly recommend.
Nirvana! Best spa experience I have ever had. Staff were friendly and professional, spa was beautifully clean and my facial and massage were heavenly. I really appreciated the reminder email and call as everyone knows, life can get pretty hectic and we all have a tendency to forget our 'me' time. I found Spa Ayurda when I was doing some birthday present shopping and they were very helpful with that process, which is why I decided to treat myself. So glad I did!
I was looking for a local spa that could provide me with not only my everyday spa needs, such as facials, tinting, waxing & massage but also somewhere I could 'escape' from everyday life & de-stress.
I came across Spa Ayurda as a winner of the Luxury Spa Awards under the Ayurveda category. I wasn't sure what to expect as sometimes these awards are nothing more than a pretty plaque on the wall.
I booked in and had a set of treatments, across the full range of ayurvedic treatments (part of a special spa package) as well as a facial & a steam bath... It was absolutely divine!
The location is great as there is plenty of off-street parking, enabling you to de-stress the moment you arrive.
The girls are extremely friendly & knowledgeable. Their massages are out of this world. And when you finish you get treated to a relaxing tea in the beautiful, calming environment.
Spa Ayurda lives up to its Luxury Day Spa award & is now a regular de-stressing place of mine.
Amazing treatment and lovely staff, definitely high quality spa! Only problem was I could hear people laughing and talking quite loud and a lot of crashing and banging from what appeared to be the laundry or kitchen which put a damper on my much needed relaxation.. Apart from that it was a great experience.
Its not even worth 1 star but had to give one just to send this post. They are not professional at all. Just charge for nothing. Don't waste your money.
