I always know I m getting the best care at Southern Orthopaedic, thanks Dr Ogden!

I am looking for a place to have one knee replaced and possible two. It seems from the review on Southern Orthopedic Specialist that the Dr.s are capable of the surgery but the staff is sub par.
As a person who has had many surgeries and looking for possible 2 knee replacements I can tell you I will do more research on this place but a Dr is only as good as his supporting staff, And if they do not know whats going on around them then mistakes are made. I am living proof from that, Little details were missed in my surgery by supporting staff and I ended up with nerve damage that had my arms pinned to my side for 6 months and then was treated like crap later, so I appreciate all these reviews and will do more research. But if any one can recommend a great Ortho Surgery Doctor please respond and let me do some research on them to make and appointment, I didn't do this the time I got hurt, so now I am very vigilant in doing my homework. thanks

Terrible experience! I took my wife there for a problem she was having and we sat in the waiting room for over two hours. It actually cycled twice in that time. We got up to leave but noticing that they hustled us into an exam room where we waited for over 35 minutes more. So we got up to leave again and they hustled the doctor in there and he spent five minutes with her and told her to go pick up a prescription for a pack of steroids and come back in three weeks. For all of this they charged $320 because they listed her as a new patient even though she s been going there for 30+ years and just didn t happen to be within their three-year limit, which never existed before, and of course they weren t going to tell us this or the associated charge for this listing. So for five minutes with the doctor it works out to be $3840 per hour. I guess they figured we were cash cows. Never again!

BTW: I forgot to mention we arrived at SOS ahead of our scheduled appointment time and still sat there for over two hours waiting. Putting this in context with an opposing experience I took her to a different orthopedic institution where we saw a doctor for the very first time. Appointment time was 1:30. Arrived 1:35. In the exam room at 1:40. X-rays taken at 1:50. Doctor in to see her again at 2. Dr. spent 20 minutes with her and actually administered a treatment. Problem solved, no drugs, and the whole event took 45 minutes. And no charge for being a new patient. Compare that to the above. Case closed.

Love doctor Hoffman, easy to speak with and participate in my care planing.

The entire staff is capable and compassionate. They were able to work with me, and as a result I am having my surgery Monday instead of weeks down the road. Professional to a T, and caring as well, I would recommend them to anyone in need of an orthopedic specialist.

Great Experience with surgical staff as well as the physical therapy dept. Did my homework and am recovering quickly.

I m new to the world of Physical Therapy and after some confusion with my insurance I m very happy with Southern Orthopaedic Specialists.All of the therapists that I ve worked with have been awesome. They are all very supportive and very knowledgeable!!! Having suffered a broken hip I wasn t sure what to expect. They treatments feel like a workout but my hip feels so much better after the session is over!!!!

Everyone here makes you feel like a V.I.P. The office has a warm & friendly yet professional atmosphere. Dr. Williams goes above and beyond to meet the needs of his patients. I like knowing that my concerns are important to the doctor and the treatment is geared towards my healing.

I do not think I would recommend Southern Orthopedic to a friend. In just my second visit the office failed to correctly reschedule my appointment in the system after I received my MRI. The most frustrating aspect of the situation was beyond the ineptitude to schedule an appointment correctly; it came from the very unapollagetic response from the office. Not only did I not receive an apology ,but rather I received an attitude as if it was my fault and was rushed out. In my experience from running my own business customer service is great indicator of how much the business cares about quality and Southern Orthopedic's customer service has proven to be sub-par.

My experience with Dr. Finney turned out wonderful. I've waited 16 months after shoulder surgery to write this review. I feel fully recovered. I can swing a golf club again! I had arthrex screws and worried about how it would feel after they desolved. I still can't raise my arm without a little tug of extra effort but I didn't expect it to be perfect after a large tear at my age.
My only complains were these.
The doctors assistant had me wait for her call for several weeks to confirm I could have the initial MRI which was unnecessary and delayed it longer than needed extending this painful experience.
The outpatient facility I had the surgery at was great except for one nurse that belittled me as I came out of the anesthesia too slow for her. Her comment was hurtful.
I saw Dr. Finney and had physical therapy at the Metairie Road location which was wonderful. The physical therapist's were so kind, professional, and helped me cope emotionally and physically through the pain. I didn't need as many appointments in the beginning and could have used them a little latter in my recoverery if the receptionist had understood my insurance ran from Oct. to Oct. and had not rushed in more appointments than needed to get them in by the end of the year like most insurances.
Dr. Finney is very skilled and I will go to him again if the need arises. Thanks for no scars!

I have been using Southern Orthopedic and Dr Michael McNulty for over 5 years. I have found them to be most responsive anytime I have had a Orthopedic Issue, He has fixed my Rotator Cuff and helped me with my Arthritic Knees. Truely a 5 Star Practice

The doctor was thorough and readily explained my problem and what needed to be done for it.

Great Physical Therapists! They are knowledgeable, professional, and caring. I have had PT for several different issues including replacement of both knees at the same time. Marsh and everyone there helped me recover quickly!

Scheduled appt online - never got confirmation call so called the office. Took 3 calls to get through, recpetionist said, "Oh the online scheduler doesn't work". Saw Dr. McNulty who is great. Warm, knowledgeable and patient. Schedule a procedure, office tells me my insurance did not approve. I paid cash. Staffer told me they would send me a paid invoice to send to insurance hopefully for reimbursement, never received it. Then I find out from my ins that they never denied it, Dr. McNulty's nurse didn't submit the correct paperwork to the correct place. They had records of several voice mails they left, she never called or submitted the paperwork. After procedure, not one person called to see how it went and my insurance co is still trying to get someoene to send the paperwork in. Done with them. Poorly run office.

Dr. McNulty is so wonderful, and I highly recommend him. The process of getting the MRI was quick. I ended up having a full ACL tear and had a lot of questions, such as if ACL reconstruction would be the right thing for me, what kind of graft he recommended, etc. He answered all my questions and eased my concerns. It's been almost 2 months since my ACL surgery, and I definitely made the right choice with Dr. McNulty. He is a great surgeon and has excellent bedside manner.

I also do physical therapy at this location with Marsh. The physical therapy staff is amazing, and I am making a lot of progress. The advantage of having the orthopedist and physical therapy under the same roof is that there is strong communication between the two.

I've also been to the location in Metairie, but I prefer this one because it has free covered parking. That's a luxury.

Liked the Doctor but issue after issue with getting an appointment and getting things sent to my insurance, they never call you back and when you call them you get a 30 min hold or just leave a message.

Great physicians and physician's assistants. Friendly staff and very helpful.

What a disappointing patient service experience. The authorization process for a prescribed test by THIS OFFICE was a nightmare and I felt as though I was doing the work that the staff should have been doing.

The doctor seemed knowledgeable enough, although I'm not sure I'll be able to see if and what my treatment plan is considering I cannot get a callback from the office to follow up.
