The South Vancouver Neighbourhood House is amazing. They are friendly, caring and understanding. I would like to give a huge thanks from myself and my family to Julie Diesta the manager that helped me. She is the most caring, friendly human being I have ever met. Her vibe and enthusiasm is so cheerful that when you talk to her you instantly get happy. Thank you so much Julie Diesta for everything you and your company has done for me and my family. the the stars could go above then five she would fill them out.

Last fall my Dad became a client of SVN, at 94 years young and living independently he was needing assistance for he was starting to have difficulties maintaining his daily routine. My Dad started receiving light housekeeping 1- 2 times a month, had some yard work done and was interested in the shopping shuttle and transportation services. Jeannie and Jennifer were very helpful and supportive regarding the needs of my Dad who has recently passed on. I'd like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank SVN for their support and services.

Very uncaring for senior medical transportation. M...

Very uncaring for senior medical transportation. My doctor of more tan 10 years is in West Van.I used to live close to her. I had to move into a co-op in South Fraserlands as my income dropped. Until recently I could get to appointments on my own. My health has declined considerably. I urgently need to visit my doctor for a medical issue. I was hoping to find a ride service but HandyDart does not go directly to West Van. They take you to the sea bus entrance where there is a very long ramp to walk. (I use a walker) Then you get on the sea bus. Exiting the sea bus is another very long ramp. Then you have a half hour wait for a different HandyDart to pick you up and take you to you doctor. It takes a very long time from home to doctors apt. Going back is just as hard. When I phoned the neighborhood house a very unsympathetic and uncaring person told me no volunteers would help me. I explained that I'm seeing the doctor because of dizzy spells and falling. I have cataracts too. I also have no one to help me as all my in town friends have died. She was very cold and uncaring when she blew me off. I had hoped she could suggest other places I could try but she was in a hurry to get off the phone. It made me realize that I would have to go by myself and risk falling and hurting myself as well as becoming exhausted by the end of the day and increasing my fall risk. Only rich seniors count it seems. So that's what I have to do. I won't be asking for help any more. Posting so other seniors can skip calling this neighborhood house when special circumstances make travelling dangerous.

Had 2 kids in the out of school care program here....

Had 2 kids in the out of school care program here. When they started there 3 years ago the care, in house and off site programs were excellent. The more experienced staff moved on to other opportunities. The new staff while good, did not have the same experience. The quality and frequency of their off site programs diminished to nearly nothing. I don't recommend the out of school care program.
