Great nuclear power plant!

Great nuclear power plant!

I found the control board of the nuclear reactor pretty intuitive: physical switches are easy to use, button is nice and red. So it s easy to stop the nuclear reactor in case of danger.

They re also using VVER nuclear reactors instead of RBMK (which had mixed reviews in terms of safety features), so the work environment is friendly and safe.

South-Ukrainian Energy Complex is the only enterpr...

South-Ukrainian Energy Complex is the only enterprise in Ukraine with integrated use of basic nuclear and maneuverable hydro-storage capacities, as well as water resources of the Southern Bug River. It is located in the north of the Nikolaev area.

Today, the energy complex includes the South Ukrainian NPP, Oleksandrivska HPP and Tashlyk PSP.

The energy complex on the Southern Buza annually produces 17-20 billion kWh of electricity, which is about 10% of total electricity production in the country and about 20% of its generation at Ukrainian nuclear power plants.

The project provided for the creation of a new type of energy enterprise, solution of the problem of complex and rational use of energy, which is generated by nuclear, hydro- and pumped storage plants. The construction of the South Ukrainian energy complex was intended to provide the south of Ukraine with a sufficient amount of electricity, using maneuverable pumped storage capacities and water resources of the Southern Bug.

Construction of the nuclear power plant, consisting of three power units with VVER-1000 reactors with a capacity of 1000 MW each, and the satellite city of the nuclear power plant Yuzhnoukrainsk began in the spring of 1975. In December 1982, the first power unit was connected to the power system. In 1985 and 1989, the second and third power units of the station were commissioned. For 10 years of operation, the nuclear power plant has generated over 100 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity. The installed capacity of the station is currently 3000 MW.
