Paid the hotel, more specifically the 3 bar a visit a couple of times a while ago since my friends were in-house guests. They weren't quite impressed with the receptionist's not so nice attitude looking at everyone like they are her dessert or sth. I on the other hand am not impressed with what they serve as "prosecco". That's some cheap fizzy dump from Waitrose, honestly. The cocktails were fine, food tasted like plastic, especially the burgers, staff all around the Ground floor looked absolutely dead. I appreciate the waitress' great sense of humour, made my day, but I could see she was freezing to death with that mini dress that looked like a potato bag and was absolutely jaded no matter how much she was trying to smile. Give that girl a bonus...or some decent clothing!
Met one of the other guests there, they said they spoke with some of the staff regarding their miserable looks. Staff had complained about management talking and acting behind their backs and not listening to them. Especially the HR. Read something like that in the employee reviews.

The management at my work place recently had a meeting there and had the same comment: staff looked miserable and jaded.

Don't think any of us is going back. Obviously nothing had changed.

Great service, very clean and large rooms with a lot to offer. Great bath/shower.
I really liked the hotel as it's also a busy place by locals. Restaurant and in the basement or the one on the top. The badge for the elevator was a bit of a pain.

The service was good for me but some friends ordered from a waiter/waitress and the drinks never arrived. The manager kindly offered a free round but we need to leave. So they made a mistake but they were eager to fix it.

South Place is cool, a great location, good value at the weekend and has a Michelin starred restaurant. It was regularly our go to place in the city but somehow the shine has been lost a little. I think the major drawback is not being able to get a late drink even as a resident.

Great hotel in a solid area. Super modern with excellent service and high quality amenities. Bathrooms in particular were fantastic. The location is good for the city and a 10 minute walk to Shoreditch for pubs and clubs.

Venue was lovely, attended my older brothers wedding but management was a bit frustrating and service questionable at times.

All staff were amazing on arrival but throughout the day patience was clearly running thin and rude undertones, attitudes were not appreciated, tolerated due to the occassion but very disappointed at times never the less.

On a whole though the place is very nice.

I miss from Paris the incredible offers for brunch the best thing to do with friends at the week-end. The luxury of having the time to enjoy an informal lunch, the sipping forever of fantastic coffee or tea, still a bit sleepy, waking up slowly and chatting. So much more comfortable than the seriousness of lunch, too structured. This is week-end time. The trend is arriving in London and the South Place Hotel has a very tempting one that includes complimentary Prosecco, Bellinis and Mimosas. What better way to celebrate?

You will love the easy transition to a cocoon space leather sofas, lounge atmosphere with a skill for design touches, dandelion effect on the walls, glass window overlooking the street for people watching, choice of individual tables or a long communal ones, morning papers

I ve just got back from a wonderful stay at this hotel with my wife. The staff were very friendly and helpful, making sure that all our needs were attended to.
Our room was spotless and the king-size bed very comfortable. The complimentary soft drinks from the minibar that were provided with our room were a real nice touch! The meal at the Angler restaurant was out of this world, every plate was exquisite and Every dish was a real explosion of flavour!
To top it off, This morning we ordered breakfast which was brought up to our room. Breakfast in bed in style. Our stay was the definition of luxury at great value for money.
We ll definitely be returning again!

My friend hosted her birthday brunch yesterday for...

My friend hosted her birthday brunch yesterday for about 20 people with a time a lot of 2:45-4:45.

My one star is just because my chilled pea soup and sweet potato rosti main was very good. I also had a fab time with my friend and her friends despite the foul ups.

The problems with the staff started almost from the very beginning.

I would say most people were seated by around 3:10pm but at this time the prosecco bottles for the bottomless mimosas still hadn t arrived. My friend s friends had to start inquiring and bottles were finally placed on the table about 3:30. At this point, for those who had ordered, STILL hadn t gotten our appetizers. Waiters told us it s coming, it s coming. At this point the restaurant wasn t even that crowded so I m flabbergasted as to what the holdup was and can only attribute to incompetence.

The staff also did.not.seem.to.understand the basic instructions on getting multiple carafes of water for our side of the table; rather they kept refilling the same carafe which obviously went quickly among six women on my side of the table!!! Rather we kept getting carafes of juice, which of course cost something. Cheeky eh?

When our mains arrived, about 4:15pm or so there were also issues. My rosti was lukewarm and the woman across from me had a burnt burger bun and her burger was cold, as was the friend across from her. I saw a waiter take it away and make a scowling face in the back with his other colleagues (a tall, blond guy) which is outrageous considering YOUR kitchen is messing up!

With the delayed start, one of the waiters had the audacity to try to stop the bottomless aspect right at 4:45 but thankfully some friends explained and the bottomless brunch continued.

However, with all these delays, my friend lost her rooftop bar reservation slot. This is just another indicator of the rubbish (I would say much stronger words here if I could) service this establishment offers as my friend was penalized for the restaurant screwups.

Desserts also arrived much later. My friend had a surprise birthday cake.

South Hotel, shame on you. This is another reminder to me, as a US expat, how AWFUL service can be in this country and you get away with it. Manager should have come over to apologize profusely to us at some point and given significant discounts off the bill.

I m going to make sure to post this all over so that more people don t make the mistake my friend did. I very rarely write reviews this terrible but this is well-deserved.

A really funky hotel tucked away discreetly in the City. Has some delicious Sunday brunches you get with unlimited cocktails/prosecco which is a total bargain given the high quality of the place. There is a really nice bar and roof terrace on the top floor which has some good views. Generally this place is quiet quiet offpeak.

Horrible!

Horrible!
The room is described with a huge marble bathroom ...indeed there is.... but they forgot to mention that are no windows in the room! Actually there is one that you can only partly open ("oh sorry there might be a problem with the motor" unfortunately the maintenance is not available now". I just wanted to see the morning light. Maybe to early)
And the lower part of that window is actually a "view" on the bar (and vice versa!) and cigarette butts on an terrible fake greyish grass carpet!)

On last Thursday I met a friend for drinks and dinner and ended up at 3 South Place. The place has a very upmarket feel that is obviously appreciated by all the suits that were present at the establishment.
The decor is very much contemporary, modern with an affluent feel. The staff were very attentive, both at the bar and in the restaurant but not overly so that you feel pestered. They really made you feel that they were there to help you with anything you needed.

The restaurant was well staffed and busy, I would recommend reserving a table as the restaurant isn't very big and filled quite quickly. The a la carte menu has a nice selection of different cuisine with sandwiches for a lighter meal to steaks which sounded divine to seafood dishes.
I went for the pork belly dish whilst my friend had the lamb curry. Both were well portioned, nicely presented and tasted amazing. I'm always very disappointed by a poorly cooked pork belly dish but this was done to near perfection and aptly paired with cubes of black pudding, cider pickled apples and what I think was swede.

All in all, the whole experience was excellent and I would definitely not hesitate to visit again.
