South Bay Holiday Camp Review

Very helpful got in to chalet 4 hours early so we got extra day

Lovely and clean, the caravans where imaculate, enjoyed the entertainment in the clubhouse, indoor and outdoor pools and well stocked shop. Bus stop right outside site if you want a break from driving

The caravan they gave us was the wrong one, didn't have enough cutlery they liked to use it for fly typing but in all nice place, good pool, okay shop.

South Bay had to be one of the worst sites I've been to and I found it boring the problem with the site is that it really doesn't have much to offer. The Arcade is a small room that mostly has Fruit Machines and hardly anything for kids to play even then when I was at South Bay most machines were broken. The Club Oceana looks like an old workmen's club it really needs updating even that place was rather depressing the entertainment staff did try their best though. The on site cafe I didn't use it but when I seen people use it was just mostly microwave meals at rip off prices. The Wi-Fi in Club Oceana was super low. The bus only runs till 6pm so you plan on leaving the car at the caravan and want to go to Torquay or Paignton for the day then you'll have to get a Taxi or walk from Brixham up those steep banks.

The only good thing about South Bay are the walks which are round the park but if you plan on going to the beach then you will have to walk down some steep banks and then walk down some steps and it's quite far from the park. If you are still near the beach near sunset then I'd make sure you leave while you have some light as once it does get dark you won't be able to see a thing it's quite creepy.

This is the only time I've been to a John Fowler site and I'll never visit one again.

You have lots of stuff to do like crazy golf and swimming and play area

Second year here and I love it ,park is within 5 minutes of cliff walks and coast path .Really beautiful coastline ,and Brixham is really nice

We had a bronze caravan and it was lovely. The staff couldn't be more accommodating. Brought me a freezer as I needed one and a cheese grater, extra duvet and pillows and a can opener. I was very impressed with the staff xx

Great base to explore devon ... really good clean site .. not just going through the motions to get the site open through the corona virus ... they are cleaning everything everywhere.. as soon as people stand and leave the bar and restaurants the seats and tables are sprayed and cleaned .. these folks are having a go at doing it right ..

just returned from a weeks holiday here ,very disappointing, very little to do, nothing open, could not even buy a coffee, caravan was fine and clean but comparing it to other parks was not my idea of holiday park.

Family holiday i highly recommend great for your young ones

Didn't let us know deb/visa has to be used in bar.We don't use.Had to get in touch with family for help.Staff in rec not really helpful.Best help came from staff in bar.Caravan seems not deep cleaned enough. Not like government expects.Dont think will visit here again
Food from previous left in cupboards.Toaster full of crumbs,so obvious not checked. So many dogs on sight plus some owners don't clean up after their dogs.

Park and caravans are generally clean, just be careful to get a pet free one of that is important to you. The facilities are okay but not amazing, the pool is never too busy, there is a crazy golf that is free but not amazing, there is a shop on sight but It's a little expensive. It is a fair walk to the nearest beach but if you do go it's a very quiet and secluded beach which is great. Since of the caravans have some great views. There is a small play area.

Quiet park in a convenient location, has all amenities and is close to the beach. I would definitely book again!

Nice caravan site with a little club house, good base for exploring

Fantastic place Brixham is beautiful. The caravan at South Bay was spotless. All staff are really friendly and couldn't help you enough, even down to the life guards! Matt the entertainment manager was so friendly and his act Amanda H was absolutely brilliant. Would reccomend this place to all my family and friends.

The first caravan was discussing! Damp and infested with flee's. They moved us to another van that was better but still was not clean the electric radiators did not work. Ended up spending a lot of the holiday trying to clear the dog's of flee's. In-laws were also stayed in there platinum van and they also had to clean dirty plates be for being able to use.

It's about time the renewed or refurbished their Budget caravans they're tatty and dirty

Great place to go. The caravan was lovely, it was nice and clean and a good size to for 5 people to stay one problem was that the freezer didn't work properly. Good entertainment during the evening.

Good swimming pool although water walkers and aqua gliders are only 4 minutes sessions which is way too short. Very few activity areas for the kids. Nice refurbished enterainment area. Probably the best part are the meals prices, much lower than at Havens.

The accommodation is excellent. It's worth the money alone for this. But the entertainment is a bit naff. Don't worry you don't have to go to it, might have gone a bit more if the drinks had been cheaper but it was cheaper else where. The staff were very polite and helpfull. And I do think a lot of the place, ive been twice now and enjoyed my stay each time. Please try. Xxxxxxx

Pleasant place, been multiple times. Can find anything from badgers to penegrin Falcons there you can often find rabbits and squirrels around the park when quiet too.

Entertainment is mainly aimed towards children aged around 3-12 with activities such as swimming and foxy club. However theres games like air hockey and pool there for adults aswell as singers and other games that take place after 9pm.

Near the site is Brixham a town with various shops and restaurants. A common thing to do there is crab fishing with equipment bought in the stores there.

Also theres a nice natural walkway that starts on the site which leads to a nice, outdoor area by the coast.

It needs toilets decorated ants in there with bait boxes not good for families with small children and a lot of residents on site

Great caravan park. Good range of facilities for the whole family and the activities were good too. We'll priced and a fantastic base to explore the rest of the area.

Lovely place to stay. Friendly staff and reasonably priced. We stayed in a chalet which was a nice standard. Beds a bit old but comfy enough. Nice swimming pool on site. There's also a convenient bus that comes into the site every half an hour that takes you into Brixham town centre. Would definitely recommend and would like to stay again. Thanks for a great holiday :-)

Beautiful holiday park for a family break, the kids absolutely loved the entertainment and even us adults got involved, and the beach cove thats only a short walk from the site is postcard worthy.
Will hopefully return

Great Holiday park all you need for a great holiday and a 20 min. walk into Brixham

Caravan was good for the price, the entertainment was questionable for the first few days until Thursday nights entertainment. Paige was the sound out stripey!!!! If you stay here just hope you dont have to listen to the bald one sing!

This is a lovely campsite where nature and tourism blend beautifully. We didn't have the best of weather but it really didn't matter

My friend of over 35 yrs had a gig there which I enjoyed!! But the place itself seemed friendly, little pricy in the bar, not an amazing food menu as a camp but didn't 'stay there'. Trick place to find too, thank heavens for google maps!

I really can't sing the praises of the John Fowler sites enough. Every JF site we've ever been to is brilliant. A great place to holiday with the kids or grandkids.

only down point is the food is nasty burger was pouring out water n my boyfriend ended up wit bad gutts n burger dont taste of beef or it where it gone off

Great holiday park, highly recommend, plenty for the kids to do.

Came to visit relatives who were staying here. The accommodation they stayed in was a very good size and nicely kitted out. Swimming pool was a bit small so could be rather full in peak season. Good little mini golf area. The restaurant is a good size although if eating a little later it is also in where they do the evening entertainment so can be a little noisy for some maybe. Food was very reasonably priced and a good amount for your money.

Simple, no frills holiday park that does exactly what it says on the tin. Clean spacious caravans and large communal spaces. Great spot for a weekend away.

Lovely spot if you like a slightly quieter site. Immaculately clean every where. Wonderful views and lovely beach close walk from site. Although it's 105 steps from top to bottom so you will need to be able to manage these. But worth it. Great for walking coast paths as base.

Lovely holiday park, well maintained grounds and friendly staff. Can't comment on other facilities as didn't use them due to Covid.

Caravan was great. Entertainment was dire... Family's looking for tables as park was rammed for the bingo.. Camping fields were allowed on.

Had a pet friendly chalet. So 80,s in desperate need of refurb. Bathroom with painted sink ,bath with plug on taps shower head, fine if your 2 foot 6 inch. No electric in bedroom, 1socket in kitchenette. Carpet held down with gaffatape, More

Lovely and peaceful very quiet Lovely coastal walks except for disabled people which isn't very good especially if your partner is disabled. Can drive to the beach then disabled friendly. Caravans not to good depends which one you have. But it's a holiday park you get what you pay for other than that Lovely place

Great park friendly staff and beautifully refurbed club house since are last visit

The beds arent good but the place u stay is in are great they are spaced out like a real living room and kitchen.

The hill face position gives a good view when the sun shines, but it can be knackering to walk up in the evening . Indoor pool 25c in March, which is nice. Shop on site is good enough to live out of. Accommodation warm and clean. Free evening entertainment great value.

Another fab holiday at south bay for our family.. this is a great caravan park. We all love staying here at south bay. Our caravan was great (b12). Great site for the kids, park indoor and outdoor pool, crazy golf and our daughter enjoyed the sand art too. The only tiny moan would be the arcade needs updating but thats a little moan. Great entertainment team and club but stripey mattie is our family favourite. Good well stocked shop. Also easy to visit surrounding areas. And great beach.. thanx for another fab holiday xx

Good position for the coastal path walk. Facilities are fine. Good pool.
