My company and I were here a couple of weeks ago and the food was alright. Our waiter seemed really awkward and nervous and you would have thought he would take advantage with a big group like ours willing to spend some cash. He didn't really check on us and often times we were trying to find him to order more drinks. I had the baked chicken entree with risotto and it was just ok. The risotto was a bit under for my tastes. The apps were pretty good, I recommend the meatballs. Drinks are good too. Overall would have been a better experience if our waiter was more attentive and knew more about the menu.

A 3.5 Star establishment. It's a solid place to go for lunch (pizza and burgers are both pretty good), the service is also fine. The ambiance and location is probably what it has going for it the most.

I went for an early lunch with two family members recently in October. The day was warm and sunny, so the dining patio was full. We were seated further inside the dining room but with a clear and open view to the patio and Newbury Street beyond. The decor was appealing and very comfortable. The food was delicious and upscale but not pretentious. Service was attentive enough and not at all overwhelming. I'd definitely go again!

Went there with a friend because she recommended me the place. We both were disappointed with the food, but mostly with the service. We got the fettuccine and also the crispy noodles; they both were quite bad. The waitress was careless from the beginning and never offered more water or a second drink, which we would actually had gotten if asked! Espresso martini and the croquettes were delicious th...

Great large scale cafe/bistro in Old Boston. We had a party in the wine room downstairs and the food, as well as the staff, was first class. The place was packed upstairs, so I recommend calling ahead for a reservation. Everything here is first rate!!!!

While unassuming, I've never been disappointed here. Their fish, especially the salmon, is par or better than Atlantic Fish on Boylston, yet much less expensive. It can get very noisy here at night on busy evenings making it very hard to hear conversation. They somehow think that blasting music at night on top of the chatter of the dinning room is good for ambiance. I should dock a start for that.... but the food was too good.

My favorite things to get are the espresso martinis and oysters. Went for the first time after quarantine and the experience was slow and appreciated. It was a nice kick back as we enjoyed our drinks and oysters. The oysters were fresh and delicious.

We ordered the package 1 and 2 meals for Easter Dinner (Ham and Lamb). The restaurant was spot on with timing for pickup. They provided instructions on what temp to reheat things at and timing. The food was delicious, and on point (especially enjoyed the raspberry tart). The problems we had was that the roasted potatoes were missing from the order. The bigger problem was that the containers of sauces, oil, and other flavoring items, were not labeled. We were also missing some of the containers we should have gotten (some form of whipped cream, a chocolate sauce, and a container or two more). Even with missing containers, we still had 5 or 6 small containers to guess at what was what since they were not labeled or numbered. I think it irks me more that the meal was somewhat expensive, albeit fair. But when paying that much, labels should be on everything so that there is no question of what is going where. The customer should not have to play "guess the flavor and what this is" when trying to cook an Easter dinner, which was purchased for the specific reason of saving time. We did call the restaurant to notify them of our issues and a gift card of some form is on the way. I appreciate them trying to rectify the situation and make amends for it. Overall, the food was delicious, and if we hadn't been missing some items, and if all of the containers were labeled, this would've been a 5 star review.

Not a bad breakfast. Delicious pancakes and pancakes. Benedict's eggs are medium.

This was the best food experience in Boston in 25 years. The food was perfectly on point. The wait staff knows the menu and has tasted it all listen to their recommendations and order it!!!

Staff was not very helpful when we had a problem. "Homemade" pasta was no better than store bought out of the box and for a pasta dish without a protein the portion was ridiculously small. One of the signature drinks, strawberry elixir somethingorother tastes like Robitussin cough syrup. Most definitely NOT recommended for parties more than 4 people. I'd go back and give them a second chance only if it's with 4 or less people.

Interesting food. I appreciate large portions, but this was not a place with huge portions. However, the olives appetizer was surprisingly big and good (at least 30 olives). Fig pizza was interesting. Place is quite loud and a bit dark. It's in a fun location, and the front opens to the street

Absolutely disgusting food and horrible service. We were served water with cups that were not washed. My cup had someone s left over lipgloss on it. Server did not apologize when I asked for an exchange and silently switched with new ones. The cuban sandwich was soaked in pork oil and unedible. The beef consomme was basically chinese herb medicine. We almost threw up after lunch. Not coming again.

Place was recommend, asked for a table for 6, knowing it might be busy...the hostess looked at me and said, hmmmm no, but the bar is first come first serve... we walked out. She didn't even look at her reservations, ask around for open tables or really even acknowledge us, just said no. We left, checked opentable and got a reservation for 10 minutes later... we were seated. Food was good, our server was EXCELLENT. But honestly, a judgemental hostess ruined the experience, left a bad impression. The food wasn't that good to be so exclusive that we couldn't be welcomed. Not a good look for the restaurant

Good place for brunch or dinner. In the warmer months there is a section that overlooks the street where they have an open storefront. The food is good, but nothing amazing. Prices are pretty reasonable given it's location on Newbury Street. It can get crowded, especially when the weather is nicer, so reservations are recommended.

I, in fact, came back. I love this place and stop by rather often. Today, I wasn't in the cheeriest of moods. I was welcomed, my Benedict was grand, and Caitlyn kicked my sour mood to the curb. She even convinced me to try a Bloody Mary (my first). I enjoy it here... Late night specials or for brunch. Good stuff!

The food is average, but if you get a coffee and sit in the big unfolding storefront on the street edge on a nice day-- you'll have one of those 'this city is wonderful and I'm apart of it' moments.

The atmosphere is good, but the food leaves much to be desired. The moules-frites was disappointing with the muscles tasteless and the fries served with ketchup rather than aioli. The skate was prepared like a piece of haddock. Sonsie is likely a good place to go for drinks, but it should be avoided if seeking a quality meal.

Excellent lunch experience on Newbury Street. Roast beef sandwich was incredibly tender. We sat right in the front open-air section, great for people watching. You can fit three around the tiny oval tables but it is a little cramped.

I went to Sonsie for the first time in years. I went with my nephew and his girlfriend. Sonsie is a hip place for all ages. The best part was the food. Yum. I don't remember Sonsie ever being this level of food excellence. I can't wait to go back again!

Cool place to have a drink on a cold night! There is a blizzard happening outside while we were there were roaming the streets of Boston and ran across Sonsie, and it was perfect for bellying up to the bar having a few cocktails and talking with bartender. Very cool and chic environment with a great drink selection.

I was literally thrilled to be back at Sonsie last night. Have been coming here for years and am so happy they have weathered the storm this past year. Carly continues to make our evenings so much better when we are at the bar and the food (especially the Pizza) never disappoints. I can t wait to be back!

Service was incredibly slow but my food was good. The rest of my group only somewhat enjoyed their meals but I also think they picked pretty boring brunch options. FYI they only seat you if your entire party is present, regardless of if you have a reservation or not!

I love the atmosphere but bad service can kill a place for me. The female bartender was very rude and belittling when we asked anything about menu. I thought maybe it was poor judgement but the man I was with on Oct 5th asked if we did something to offend her in a past life. Lol I gave 3 stars cuz the other worker was great. Miss the cozy wine bar downstairs and nice atmosphere . Good pizza and trendy. Always was my go to comfort spot for food or a martini

Sonsie is a mediocre restaurant in a great location. Reasonably well decorated, if a little dated, the space is comfortable. Unfortunately the food was decidedly average, not bad but nothing special. The service was terrible, we waited an More

Worst dinning experience in Boston ever! - the table next to us was dirty and plates were full of food the whole time we were there. - the english muffin in the Benedict was extremely hard to cut, i mean you will try with all your strength! - the burger was burnt and the buns were stale. - no body came to check if we needed anything after the food arrived. The water was the only decent thing in the restaurant

Came in for dinner last night and was blown away with my experience! The food was ok but my server made up for everything. Jinelly was attentive, helpful, and super caring. She provided us with great recommendations for drinks and things to do after dinner. Would come back just for her! Quite a gal!

I love Sonsie because of the genuine care and attention I received from Cindy!! She s the best person that restaurant has and has the most in depth wine knowledge. She really creates an excellent atmosphere for guests; something I have never experienced before at Sonsie. So thank you, Cindy.

Can I give a one-star review if I haven't even tried the food? I don't know. All I know is that we had a terrible experience regardless. Came Friday night with my friend around 11pm. It's a pretty big restaurant with a more casual seating area, fancier seating area with tablecloths, etc, bar, and sofa/lounge area. Host told us we could sit anywhere, so we sat by the window in the casual seating area. We came intending to get some drinks, not food, so we only looked at the drinks menu. After closing our menu and deciding what we wanted after at least 20 minutes of sitting down, the waitress hands us 2 glasses of water, doesn't say a word, and leaves immediately before we can order. Okay, it's not super busy, but maybe she needs to help another table. We were going to order the Cranberry Crush and Vanilla Spiced Mule, but the waitress never came back. There were other tables around us getting served food and drinks and the waitresses checked on them often, but every time we tried getting anyone's attention, their backs were to us. Ignoring us? Really not noticing us? Your guess is as good as mine. So in total, we sat there 45 minutes. We had a shuttle to catch, so we just drank our water, and as we left, a waitress thanked us for coming. Like no one even noticed that we hadn't ordered/received anything. Not being served for 45 minutes at a popular, well-known restaurant is pretty appalling to me. I would have come back to check out the brunch, but I don't really want to deal with that kind of service again.

Ok service, but food was not very good. The little bread basket with blueberry muffins were dry and tastelessness. My Juevos Rancheros was a bunch of nacho chips with some beans and an egg on top. My friend's steak and eggs was cooked incorrectly and very poor cut of meat.

Looked nice but very disappointing night, was like it was their 1st night. Limited menu as it was Christmas eve which was fine but way over priced for what we got and they were way under staffed . We counted 6 tables around us that had problems and were complaining to the manager. Waitress tried but she was overburdened and under experienced. Ordered a 2nd bottle of wine when the food was served ,never saw it. It's the holidays so we will move on and wish them well , but we wont be back. A rare statement from me.

The prices here are fairly high, as one would expect. We enjoyed a couple pizzas, which were tasty, but not generously topped. On the contrary, the desserts were delicious, --I recommend the flourless chocolate cake or the tart for those who like lemon. The drink menu included an extensive list of cocktails and mock-tails. The restaurant itself was dimly lit with tiny tables that would barely seat 2 people comfortably. The music was trendy and seemed out of place. Lastly, a few guests had a puppy with them at the bar, which did not seem appropriate for the establishment.
