Ordered parts and tools for my first build. The site is easy to navigate, price is for most budgets, and quick turn around time for delivery. My experience was only muted (lol) because my order didn't come with every thing purchased. Their customer service was great though. The next day they had sent the missing pieces and closed the ticket. I'm excited to see how this thing ends up, hoping to be a repeat customer!
A little disappointed. I was in Toronto for a few days and wanted to get some diy kits. I would rather see it with my own eyes before buying. However, the showroom is closed due to covid. and I find it a little odd now that most other businesses are operating normally. Monsieur who was in the store said that there is no way to make a purchase live. I was forced to leave.
I feel like it s pointless for this store to be in retail form. They should just stick to selling online. The selection in the shop itself really isn t that great. A lot of the kits, necks, bodies, and other inventory are in the back warehouse, and not available for customers to browse in person. What I found really surprising was that basically nothing in the shop had price tags. We kept having to ask the staff how much each item is. The only good thing I have to say about the shop itself was that the staff are very friendly and knowledgable. Other than that, there really isn t a point of going to the shop in person. You can call them if you have questions, and you can browse their inventory and place your order online.
Took a bit to find the store but once inside I was made to feel very welcome. The enthusiasm displayed by the staff was infectious and definitely enhanced my interest in playing guitar(I m new).
Great little shop with super friendly and helpful staff. Great for anyone wanting to build a guitar from a kit or repair guitars.
Bought some parts online, there was a slight problem, super respectful and helpful staff, will do business with them again!
You can't trust the product reviews on the website because they don't approve negative reviews. I don't think the reviews are fake, but if you pick any random product, you will only find positive reviews. My negative, but factual, review is only visible to me and is "Waiting for approval." If there were honest reviews I wouldn't have taken a chance on cheap products. What I ordered has five stars and other customers said the item was perfect. What they sent me was defective. Even though the item is defective, I have to pay for return shipping. Sleaziest of all, the guy I talked to said they were going to put the defective item back on the shelf and sell it to someone else. Deceptive advertising, poor quality product, an unfair return policy, and knowingly selling defective products. I will not be doing business with this company anymore. Amazon, Stew Mac, and Philadelphia Luthier supply have much better products and services.
I had an excellent customer service experience! They are extremely knowledgeable, patient, and friendly. I would recommend this place for any of your music related needs.
Extremely helpful staff with who helped point me in the right direction with all my guitar upgrade questions. Highly recommend going into the shop, if you re in the area.
Fantastic staff and great diy guitar kits, part and accessories. Special shout out to Matt for helping with everything I needed for my project.
Ordered online. Quick shipping and amazing service. The guitars that came in were different from what was described online. They gave me the option to change my order before it arrived. Sent pictures, very good post sale service, IMO. Product is quality and I will definitely re-purchase once this kit is up and playing (PRK-1 electric guitar kit).
Friendly and helpful staff, and an awesome selection of guitar parts!
Best experience ever. Great staff, excellent customer service, fantastic stock. 6/5 stars in my opinion. Keep it up guys.
Great shop. Helpful people and always got what I need. Would love more 7 string options in terms of strings but aside from that fantastic !
Excellent customer service. Had an item damaged in shipping & they went above & beyond to make it right.
Great place. Great service. Happy with my purchase and experience.
Great place and stuff is extremely helpful. Highly recommend!
I built a twelve string telecaster from Solo and only had an issue with the saddles not allowing enough travel to become intonated for the different string gauges. After contacting solo they remedied the problem and are sending me replacements. This is a huge deal because buying a kit directly from a foreign company I probably wouldn't get support. I'm going for an SG next, once they are back in stock.
Seems like great people to deal with. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Will buy again after setting up my first purchase.
Very special place and great staff, friendly and helpful. Anything Fender and Gibson. All sorts of DIY guitars and apparel. My exclusive store bar none.
knowledgeable/helpful staff, huge selection, and high quality parts pretty much a one-stop-shop!
Excellent customer service very helpful and knowledgeable. Recommended for any and all guitar players
I'm yet to visit their store - but my online shopping experiences have been nothing short of exceptional. I've ordered two DIY kits from them as well as other parts, and my father is a very frequent customer for his business. They have been a pleasure to deal with, and I have been so happy with their products
Solo has a great variety of do it yourself guitar kits, parts and accessories. The staff is very knowledgeable, helpful and pleasant to deal with.
Outstanding customer service, and great selection of quality parts.
THE BEST customer service experience I have ever had. Had some minor issues with my kit and the guys at Solo bent over backwards to resolve. Very impressed with Solo and the kit. Will buy again. Pic attached; notice Roland GK3 pickup beside the Phatcat P90s! Super custom guitar.
Hey Chris, u were right about not getting the amp , but I still did. Thank you for Ur help and time yesterday December 19. Ur honesty about not pushing sale on me and instead u advised otherwise and u were indeed correct, I appreciate the time given just for buying nylon strings. Cheers!
The best shop for modding your guitar in Canada! If you are planning to mod your guitar, then this is the place to go. Like walking into Wonka's Chocolate Factory. Every kind of pickup, string set, a room full of original Fender and other parts, tuners, the list goes on and on. I went in for a prewired Strat pot kit and was blown away. You owe it to yourself to visit this shop. It is mind blowing! Great staff and good prices.
This is the place to go if you're in need of just about anything guitar or Luthier related. Best kit guitars. Awesome necks. Been here over a dozen times now. I drive from Hamilton and it's worth it.
The owner and management staff at SOLO are amazing! Definitely worth a look if you're thinking of taking on a custom guitar project :)
Great guitar shop. Great staff. If you want to find anything guitar to build or fix... You can't go wrong here. They have everything.
Bought my Son A guitar kit from Solo and it's a great product. Staff were excellent and helpful.
If you build or like tinkering with guitars check out Solo. Lots of stock and a spacious showroom. Great knowledgable staff.
Visited Solo's new showroom and was very pleased with the experience. Friendly, knowledgeable staff with a nice selection of luthier tools, DIY kits and guitar parts and accessories. I met with Padraig--a seasoned guitar tech--to purchase a DIY Tele kit and he literally answered every question I had from soldering to assembly. His patience and insight were invaluable. Definitely looking forward to starting my first build, thanks Solo!
Got a pedal from them online, looking foreward to checking out guitar building stuff when lockdown is over Dave is a great help!
great place with amzing staff! Matt helped me find the perfect bridge for my project and they sell titebond! ive never had a bad experience in the store and every time i go they have great new stuff in
I was going to try one of their kits, simply to make a quilted maple frankentele, but they were out of stock. Maybe that's a good thing since the kits and necks they had, needed serious reworking and fret dressing. Frets were so rough I'd be worried I'd cut my fingers if I tried to play one of the guitars without some very serious fret work. Price is a little high in some cases, others, not so bad. If you want to have them hold a guitar, call to check stock before you go there. I did and then checked the internet, but ended up spending $50 in gas for nothing, because they didn't have stock. Apparently, they've fixed their website inventory. They have a pretty good selection of luthier tools, I just didn't see any fret dressing tools, go figure lol. The people seem pretty good there and they are helpful, I guess.
excellent customer support. I had an issue with a guitar kit and they got back to me in a few days and proposed a solution I am happy with.
Great little store that has many parts and accessories for any guitar project you have. From unfinished guitar kits, to painted guitar bodies, and double neck guitars, this store has it all! They also have assembled kit guitars that you can try out, which is great because you can see the fit and finish, and hear the guitar in person before you buy. Owner Matt is extremely helpful and friendly. I picked up a Telecaster style kit. I am very happy with my guitar now that it is finished. It turned out very well, and sounds amazing!
I am writing this 5+ Star review as I feel that Solo went above and beyond to rectify and issue that I had with a pre-wire kit. Their follow up and open communication were exceptional. I cannot express enough, how refreshing an experience this was. I will highly recommend them and look to them for further product ordering. Top Shelf, Cheers
Lockdown ended months ago. We all wear masks and socially distance. This is the only guitar shop that is still closed. Neat, you have curbside pickup, so does every other shop, but those places allow customers to see what their buying before they buy it, Because the government has allowed retail store to open for months now. Unless they open the store to the public, don't bother with this place. Go to one of the many other guitar shops.
This place is a parts haven for Fender and Gibson owners. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
Sent me a kit with missing and damaged parts. Said they'd send replacements and never did. The parts were minor... so I just took care of it myself, but I would never buy here again or recommend them to anyone. Special thanks to Solo for the xmas email that reminded me to write this review.
Great staff, very knowledgeable and friendly. So glad to have a Canadian store fill this need
I was able to get a black pick guard to fit the Solo JB kit.
Bought a guitar kit a year ago now and only just finished the project. I m happy with the guitar considering what I spent on it. However there were some issues from the day I bought it. Went to the store and this was the only kit instock. I thought that would be a good thing, people are buying these like crazy! Got it home and took everything out and it was missing all of the electronics... no big deal I called and they were going to send me everything. Weeks went by and nothing. Called again. Oh they were just sent out but we ll throw in a pack of strings... ok that s fine. Finally arrive and keep messing around with the paint job for a few weeks. Go to install and clearly not the same hardware for this kit. Wiring diagram is coded differently and the jack is a different shape then what s suppose to come and doesn t fit. Tone nobs don t fit against the raised middle of the body. Holes to bolt on the neck don t line up and the holes for the tuning pegs are not level. Plate to cover the wiring doesn t fit. I was very excited for this build but after all of this I was very disappointed in the product
Great place for Guitar spares ,diy guitar ukleele kits, guitar accessories.
customer service is incredibly helpful and fast! Highly recommend for guitarists, bassists and tinkerers. Great to support Canadian companies.
The kits are prefabricated in China they are the middle men. The quality of some kits like mine "alder body stratacaster" was poorly prefabricated. The neckbolt holes on the neck and body were off center and crooked. I was told when I called that was normal for the money I was paying and I could return it if I liked. I felt the effort to listen and genuinely help me was unsatisfactory. I even sent pictures. Look below would you accept them telling you that that's normal or ok..? Does that look properly aligned to you. ?? I think not. Buyer beware. Do your homework on DIY kits from Solo. Thanks
They really know their stuff when it comes to guitars and guitar kits. Awesome and helpful people as well.
My first time at Solo Music was exceptional. The staff, especially Matt, was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Matt walked me through the steps and helped me in choosing the right kit. Even after purchasing, he was very adamant on offering help during the progress if need be which was very thoughtful. The selection was surprisingly large as well, having a wide selection of pickups, necks, and other guitar parts. Very pleased with my experience, will do most of my guitar related shopping here now. Could not have asked for anything more, excellent service.
Great service, good attitude. Looking forward to my new Tele.
Anyone who tries to build a guitar or an amp in Canada with parts or kits sourced from a Canadian supplier always faces a challenge. I was very please to find Solo. I was doing my first complete fret dress on a Fender Custom Shop Nocaster because the previous 'techs' I took my baby to couldn't even do a decent set up let alone a refret or a fret dress. I found what I needed at Solo and am doing the work myself. First rodeo... I purchased my stuff from Solo and picked it up covid safe at thier Concord location. Good products, fair & reasonable prices and a crisp & clean curbside pick up. They even had a few items I bought that StewMac didn't sell. Solo will now be my first choice 'go to' place for guitar repair tools & equipment. Nice people as well... Thanks for the tools, I hope my fret work is good.
Like building your own computer. So much more bang for the buck here
8" Steel? fret leveler, nice weight. Narrow width surfaces have bevelled ends. The various grits of Kovax sandpaper rolls are good quality with glue exposed. Fast shipping, quality products. Special thank you to Padraig, excellent support!
Dave was extremely helpful. I have not had customer service like this from anywhere. He was quick to respond, and answered all questions that I had. Amazing service, and will be giving more business in the near future.
Incredibly friendly, knowledgeable service. I purchased a beautiful unfinished bass neck in person at their showroom in Mississauga for a steal and was walked through how to treat it and do the work of installing it. Really happy with the result. Customer service like this is rare in music stores, thanks!
Matt and Solo music have been stellar with their guitar kits. I had a couple small issues and Matt took care of them no questions and with quick turnaround. I have 3 kits I have ordered from them and 2 I have completed and they turned out really nice. Good action and intonation and just really nice guitars to build. I will definately order additional kits from this store. Thanks Matt, for the great service you provide. Dan S.
From top to bottom my experience has been absolutely amazing. Christian explained my options when selecting a kit and answered any questions I had. Even the customer service after sale was amazing, if they missed my call they called back and helped me out. I had an issue with one of my tuning pegs and they replaced it for free no questions asked! I will never buy another pre made guitar again! Thanks guys!
Helpful staff, good prices. I got one of their strat bodies and it was exactly what I wanted.
I ve had good experiences and bad. They do offer gear that you can t seem to find anywhere else though so there s that.
Great place to buy all your gear and order the custom kit!
I cannot tell you enough about this place. It is like Disneyland for guitar players. Anything and everything you could possibly need is all in one spot. I highly recommend this as your go-to place. The prices and the customer service are excellent. I bought a kit and I know I'll buy more many many more. If you're looking to shop for guitar and guitar accessories this is it!
Always has what we need and offers convenient, friendly curbside pick up!
Received bass guitar today. My boyfriend was blown away. We are so looking forward to building it. Would reccomend to anyone. Thanks!
Solo is my go-to place for guitar parts and accessories, and their kits are a lot of fun to build. When I was recently looking for Tusq picks, everything online was expensive and slow, especially with shipping (no amazon prime). Checked Solo and they had them in stock, picked them up that day. How do you beat that? Here's a couple of kits I made, pre-final assembly. The Les Paul plays as well as my two Gibsons. Always friendly and helpful service!
Great store if you're a guitar builder or modder. All the bits and pieces you could ever wish to see and more. Friendly helpful staff and decent pricing. Or order online. But worth a visit to browse around.
Great service, fast delivery and good choice of Luthier tools and equipment, guitar replacement/upgrade parts and guitar kits. It's Canada's answer to what 'the evil empire', Stewart-MacDonald supplies from Ohio, USA ... without the hassle of foreign exchange, duty taxes and long shipping times.
Chris was very helpful in choosing my first (of many hopefully) DIY Tele kit. Great place to learn different techniques for finishing the Guitars.
Great selection of luthier tools, amazing service. I m really impressed guys!
Great products and great prices . Very happy with my Seymour duncan pickups.
The kits and parts they have are great quality and priced really well, but it's the service that's the best.
Thank you for helping to choose strings. It sounds awesome
Fantastic guys to deal with, knowledgeable, helpful
A store jam-packed and well-organized store with excellent products related to guutars, guitar modifications, and building. Great staff.
Knowledgeable staff.... extensive inventory... and a great repair shop!
