Solar Power and Light LLC Review

My wife and I signed a contract with Solar Power & Light as part of a co-op seeking to obtain bulk (lower) pricing on a solar installation. Solar Power & Light did have a very low price for the installation and initially we were eager for the process to begin.

It has become an enormous headache. The company has very poor customer service - they simply do not communicate their intent and plans to the customer, makes unfulfilled promises, and I suspect they outright lie. Below I've copied the 5th email I've seen to them over the span of 2 months about our solar installation detailing the issues. This email was sent on January 17th.

I challenge Solar Power & Light to respond to this review stating anything I said below is untrue. I could provide email copies of all communication except the phone call.

For the record:

* We were given a 3rd week of December install date at the end of November. Karen and I cannot possibly see how this was true given you still did not have the necessary permits by the first of the new year - Jan. 2 2020. You ignored our email stating scheduling conflicts until the very last minute.

* We were given a Dec. 29-31 installation date. Again, these days came and went WITH ABSOLUTELY NO CONTACT ON YOUR END. Not once were we notified that a crew would not be there, that these dates would not work, nothing. My wife was left to wait out the day wondering when the crew would show up. She emailed politely asking when a crew would show up and that she was just trying to plan out her day, but this email was ignored as well. This is unacceptable, rude, and unprofessional.

* During a telephone conversation prompted by us on the evening of Dec. 31 with Daryl, it was said that the permits were being pursued and they were waiting to hear back from Clark County. AGAIN, if you were going to install on the 3rd week of December then the 4th week, how did you not have the permits already?

* Another ignored email was sent on Jan. 9 asking for an update on the schedule.

Solar Power and Light does excellent work! Function, fit and finish, and service and availability for questions after the sale and installation, all top notch!

It's so refreshing to deal with a company with such integrity and pride in their workmanship, I will be dealing with them exclusively for all my solar power needs!

We met the Solar Power & Light team through the Greene County Solar Cooperative in the spring of 2019. They installed a 7.2 kWp system in late October for us. The SP&L team s sales and project management process was excellent and, most importantly, enjoyable. This is a group of empathetic solar professionals who have plenty of experience to rely on. They designed and procured for us the latest solar technology and installed it in double quick time and it works perfectly. We have been delighted with SP&L s service and responsiveness to date and look forward to many (at least 25 ) years of support. We couldn t recommend this company more strongly.

I contracted Solar Power and light to install solar panels on my property for a 19.5 Leo system and I love it. It has driven down my cost of energy by a few hundred dollars a month from April to September. I am on pace to have the savings pay for the system in 9 years and then it is all gravy. I wish I had done it when I moved in 10 years earlier but as this is my forever home it will pay for itself 4 or 5 times in my life not to mention the increased value to the property. I didn t do a battery back up system but a net meter so it I only pay the difference between what I generate vs what I use. I have a back up propane whole home generator for power outages and now I do not have to worry about battery replacement cost. I had an inverter go bad about 4 months into it and I reached out to solar and power and they came out immediately and got it exchange at no cost. Even after the completed installation they have stayed in touch and are very responsive to questions I have. I love the APP they have to monitor the generation of power. In just over 1 year I have saved $3778 and planted 390 trees equivalent and prevented 51,600 lbs of co2 gas. Highly recommend to anyone that has the space. Also the state of Ohio had discounted interest rates at several lenders to help mediate the cost of the loan.

Professional, timely and honest - just what you want in a company that is installing an expensive and long term investment on your roof! We are so thrilled with Solar Power & Light, I recommend them without question.

After deciding to go solar I begun investigating multiple contractors, with an eye towards quality, experience, and a competitive price. SP&L had squarely won my business on these attributes, plus they were conveniently located nearby. We worked through multiple iterations of the design to optimize production and I truly could not be happier with the result. Most importantly, my energy bills have been reduced to a mere fraction of what they used to be, and my home looks great. I am especially grateful to the management team for their personal attentiveness to my many questions, flexibility, and advocacy through the permitting and inspection process.
